Chapter 16 - Cold CEO (2)

Before Cassie came in, the news that a new girl would transfer to the class had already spread throughout the class. It was the first semester of the senior year, already in the review stage, and the school had rearranged the classes based on the students' performance. Cassie was placed in the intensive class.

Due to the limited number of classes, the students were a mix of those who were serious about studying and those who were just trying to pass the time.

For someone like Cassie, who had connections, the school administration didn't pay much attention and promptly placed her in this class. Despite this, the excitement among the students couldn't be hidden. As soon as the morning assembly ended, whispers filled the classroom:

"I saw that woman from the administration office leading a beautiful girl into the office this morning! She's really pretty, petite and cute, with exceptionally fair skin!"

"Could she be our new classmate?"

"That would be great! I want to be classmates with the beautiful girl!"

"Prepare a seat for the pretty girl! Quick!"

The discussions didn't last long. After the bell rang, the class teacher brought in a new student, a girl. Despite the oversized school uniform, her exquisite charm couldn't be hidden. She had delicate features, and a glimpse of her fair neck was visible above the collar, radiating a beautiful luster.

Indeed, she was the "beautiful girl" they were all talking about. The girl picked up a chalk and wrote her name on the blackboard stroke by stroke.

"Hello, everyone. I'm Cassie, nice to meet you all."

In the unified classroom, a group of students studying together—something Cassie had no experience with. During her self-introduction, she felt awkward, but luckily, her lack of expression made it difficult for others to notice her discomfort.

In her memories, they often talked about the imbalanced male-to-female ratio in humanities classes. Cassie glanced briefly and found a relatively balanced ratio in this class—however, the classmates were quite individualistic, lacking the intense academic atmosphere and appearing more relaxed.

The teacher assigned her a seat in the last row of the middle group. Coincidentally, there were three seats in this row, with one vacant. The girl next to her was very enthusiastic, moving her seat aside and saying, "Classmate, come and sit next to me, don't sit on the edge."

Cassie complied and sat down. "I'm Annie," the girl said, resting her chin on her hand and smiling, "How's your math? Mine isn't great, so I'll count on my new desk mate to help me in the future."

Math? Cassie fell into silence for a moment and whispered, "Probably not good."

She had long forgotten what she had studied.

The seating arrangement in this class consisted of two large groups side by side. Jiang Yutong sat on her left, and on her right was a quiet and refined-looking boy wearing black-framed glasses. He didn't say much, and when Annie chatted with Cassie, the boy just glanced at her before continuing to focus on his own work.

Time passed quickly. By the end of the evening self-study session, Cassie, with her backpack on her back, walked out of the school gate and immediately saw the car parked on the side of the road.

The license plate of the car was well-known to the security guards. They had reserved a parking space, ensuring that it wouldn't be crowded with other vehicles.

Annie's car was unique, with only three limited editions. Given the high tuition fees of the school, the students were either rich or wealthy. Occasionally, there were ordinary students who earned scholarships based on their abilities. During the pick-up and drop-off times, it was like a large-scale luxury car exhibition. From sports cars to recreational vehicles, there was nothing the wealthy couldn't afford.

Cassie didn't understand all this, and after a simple greeting, she left. The driver that day was the same one, wearing a warm smile. "Miss Cassie, how do you find the school?"

Being a school of the Qi family, as the driver of the Qi family, he instinctively wanted to hear the opinion of an outsider.

Cassie nodded, "It's pretty good."

The campus was beautiful, the classmates were welcoming, and she hadn't encountered any chaotic situations. On the first day of school, she had a good impression of this school.

The driver became extremely enthusiastic, eagerly telling her the development history of the Qi family, which played a vital role in conquering various business sectors. As he spoke, he mentioned their young master, "Ah, our young master has been outstanding since childhood. While others were preparing for the college entrance exam, he had already completed a dual degree and gained fame on Wall Street. It's just a pity..."

Cassie, as an "outsider," shouldn't be told some things. He stopped talking about it, and that was enough.

The distance between the villa and the school wasn't very far, both located in the suburbs. The development had a history of several years, and it was famous for being a wealthy area. At night, with few pedestrians on the road, the orange light from the street lamps extended into the distance.

The housekeeper had prepared a late-night snack—sweet soup dumplings emitting hot steam. Back in her room, Cassie chewed on the dumplings while facing a dilemma.

Unexpectedly, what hindered her from continuing her life was homework.

Math homework.

At this stage of review, each subject had assigned a thick textbook, summarizing all the knowledge points from the first and second years and starting anew. The first unit left her completely puzzled.

She pushed the math homework aside and quickly finished the exercises assigned by other subjects. Then, she stared blankly at the math problems.

Feeling completely lost, Cassie decided to step out of her room and go to the balcony to get some fresh air. The night breeze, carrying the scent of the sea, gently brushed against her face, creating a serene and delightful atmosphere. It had to be said that Grandpa. Qi knew how to choose a location well—the villa, though a bit distant, excelled in its uniquely beautiful scenery. Just looking out the window could uplift one's mood.

After regaining clarity, Cassie prepared to return to her room and continue the struggle with her math homework. As she turned absentmindedly, she noticed a figure on the opposite balcony.

The lighting was dim, making it challenging to discern the person's gender from their back. The railing obscured a large portion of their figure, but Cassie could see that the person leaned against the railing, with a slender and graceful jawline exposed.

They, too, were gazing into the distance.

Far away, the vast expanse of the sea extended endlessly, and the faint moonlight illuminated the surface, creating sparkling ripples that blurred the silhouette of the person.

Suddenly, the person turned around.

Their eyes met in the air.

Cassie saw a pair of pitch-black eyes and the faint, cold curve of the lips, devoid of any emotion.
