Chapter 3
As soon as I woke up in my crib, I found myself face to face with a sleeping Elmesia. This is the first time I see her without her vale, and I must say she is truly beautiful, no she is the most beautiful women I have ever seen however she also looks sort of familiar.
'The empress is an almost exact copy of Sylvia El Ru; it can be assumed that she is a close relative of Sylvia. Also, she isn't truly asleep, like yourself she is unable to sleep due to being a part spiritual life form. Her current state is closer to meditation.'
I see then I guess she won't mind if I ask her a couple questions.
'Hey Elmesia, how closely are you related to sylvia?'
As I asked my question, I could see a teasing smile grace her face.
'Sylvia is my mother.'
Well, I should have seen that coming, I mean Sylvia is a high elf, in other words she is immortal until killed and I have no doubt that she is strong enough to at least flee any real danger. That was when I received another package of memories.
'Holly fuck! You're little Elmesia!'
The memories I received were of my time with Sylvia and when she brought a little rascal that would use my own employees to scheme against me. Cakes to the face the moment I enter my office. A rainy cloud that would follow me everywhere I go including inside buildings. Trap doors in the last places anyone would expect, damn she even used one when I was in the bathroom.
'You little devil!'
'Oh? Are you sure you want to speak like that to your mother? You kept mentioning spankings, how about I give you your first in this life?'
Chills went down my spine, if only I could have forgotten everything. I started backing away when the devil caught me.
"Now be a good boy and I will give you something nice, ok?"
I could only nod, I am now certain that this life will not be as relaxing as I hoped.
Elmesia took me for a tour of her castle, and I must admit it is the perfect balance between comfort and luxury. But what I like most about it were the gardens. The atmosphere there is simply enchanting.
Right in the middle of what I assume to be the biggest garden was a table full of sweets.
'Is that for me? Oh, Elmesia you shouldn't have, I doubt I could finish it all.'
She giggled. "Oh, little Althen, you are simply too young to eat solid food. Don't worry though mommy has prepared your own milk bottle."
I couldn't see my face, but I know that I looked like a dead man walking. She's too cruel, what have I ever done to deserve this?
In the end she did give me a pastry to eat but I won't be forgetting this! Revenge is a must!
"Come here, let me wipe your face." Elmesia came closer and whispered into my ear "Here I thought I could treat you like a big boy, guess its too early, you still need mommy to do everything for you, don't worry mommy will take great pleasure in changing your diapers, washing your little weeny, and I will even sing you lullabies before I put you to bed."
Good god, she's enjoying this too much.
"Also, I called for Grandma to come visit my little Althen I am certain she will also want to spend some good time with you."
Is it possible to die of shame? Because I think I am dying here.
In the end I did exactly what she demanded I do; at some point you have to stop fighting against your fate and just accept it. I even stopped talking, just letting everything happen as they should. If she wants to make a newborn out of me then I accept, one must choose their battles and I simply have no way to win this one.
Months passed and I adapted to my new life pretty easily, though I would hope to at least have a moment to myself but no, Elmesia spent every moment of everyday with me. At some point I started doubting she was the empress of some great country. That was until Erald Grimwald, one of those thirteen kings or dukes or whatever, visited for a consultation.
An important looking man approached us during our teatime, at first, he looked confident in front of the guards but once his figure came close enough that he wouldn't be so visible to the others he turned into a meek man.
"Lady Elmesia, the western nations are once more attempting to pressure us into adopting Luminism as our state religion. Though in truth they request we allow its practice in Sarion."
'What do you think Althen?'
Elmesia used thought acceleration with a telepathic link with me.
'What I think, isn't that obvious? There is no true god in the world, anyone with enough power could present themselves as one but are they worthy of the title? No, that goes without saying. There is only one being that could claim to be the one true god and even he discarded the title. Whoever this god Luminous is, they should never be allowed to influence Sarion the way it does the western nations.'
'Good boy.'
Does she have to treat me like a child? Oh, I forgot, I gave up on trying to change that the very day it started.
"So Erald what do you think we should do?"
"I… I think we should not give in or at least get something out of it if we choose to accept."
"Tell me Erald, who rules over Sarion?"
The man stiffened. "You your majesty, there is no questioning that."
"Good boy, now tell me who rules over the western nations?"
Oh, it looks like I found a brother in my misery, I don't know how old he is but I am certain he is older than me and yet she treats him just the same. When I grow up, I will be sure to be extra nice to this man. Oops, he saw the pity in my eyes, let's hope he misunderstands.
"Um, The Western council? Ingrasia? Farmus? The Russo family? The Western Holly church?"
"You see, you can't even tell. Now tell me, why should I allow my authority to be challenged and turn Sarion into another version of the west?"
The man grew silent. I honestly felt bad for him, he just got a verbal spanking, I too was subject to a couple of those in my first few days, that was until I learned that silence is golden.
Good luck buddy I will pray for you.
"How should I reject them? The church is growing restless, there are even calls to add the Elves and Dwarves into the category of monsters."
What? Are they insane? I retrieved much of my memories of my time as president of Ulgreisia, that's how I have a better understanding of the strength of each species. There is no way humanity could beat the Elves, especially when they've progressed so much.
Actualy my thinking was wrong from the beginning, does humanity even have an Ultimate Skill user? If they don't then Elmesia alone could solo them.
That's unlikely to happen since Guy Crimson and his demons might take the opportunity to invade the human lands but that doesn't change the fact that humanity can't win no matter what.
"Erald don't we already have the perfect way to avoid them?"
Damn she's really treating him like a child, she is even guiding him to find his own answers. The man took a bit to figure it out but, in the end, he figured it out just before Elmesia grew annoyed.
"You! I mean your majesty is also considered a god in Sarion; we can claim that you allow no god within your own domain."
"Very good Erald, you can go now."
I could feel the relief he felt after being dismissed though I hoped I could also be dismissed from time to time.
'Why did you ask for my opinion?'
'Oh, you are talking to me now? Here I thought you learned your lesson.' A shiver went down my spine at her words, but I persisted.
'It's quite simple, I need a new secretary and I thought that you would do fine.'
'Hey! I never agreed to that, anyway what's this Luminism?'
My real ultimate skill, change the subject before I really get a spanking.
'A new religion created by a vampire Demon Lord to keep the peace in the human lands. Apparently having humans fighting each other makes their blood taste bad, also humans being the vampires' primary food source makes losing too many of them a hassle. Honestly her plan wasn't bad, though her followers are getting annoying.'
'Ok, let's start from the beginning, in case you forgot I am missing about two thousand years of history so I will start with this, since when was there a Demon Lord apart from Guy Crimson?'
'You remember how Milim Nava the daughter of the Star King Dragon Veldanava went on a rampage? The lord of darkness Guy Crimson and the Fairy Queen Ramiris joined forces to stop her. After the battle and about a decade after your death they became an infamous group that was feared by all. This perception was only reinforced when those three were later joined by the Giant Dagruel, the Vampire Queen Luminous, and the Fallen Angel Dino. And so, the second generation of Demon Lords was born.'
'I know only of Dagruel but if the other two are on par with him then yeh I can see why they would be feared.' There are legends about how the earth would shake for days when Dagruel went on a rampage.
'The three that joined latter weren't on the same level as the original trio, hell only Dagruel could compare to them, but their power could not be denied. After that the title of Demon Lord became something of a goal to every madman who wished for their name to go down in history. I still remember when over a hundred self-proclaimed Demon Lords started acting like they were untouchable. That of course didn't last long, the war between heaven and earth culled their number quickly, leaving only the strongest of them. Although it has to be said that the original six never lost their position, though Luminous the so-called God took something of a retirement and put a puppet in her seat.'
'Bet everyone forgot about her by now.'
'Most races aren't as long living as the Elves, you can't really blame them for forgetting about her. Though it always amuses me when I think about how they are worshiping their self-designated enemy of humanity and a Vampire at that.'
Yeh the irony isn't lost on me.
'Now adays there are ten recognized Demon Lords, the four newcomers are Leon Cromwell whose epithet is the Platinum Saber, he's a former hero and a student of Sylvia, if you ever meet him be sure to be nice to him, the poor boy is always brooding, it would do him some good to have a friend. Next is Carrion the Beast Master, his father united the Lycanthropes and since then Carrion has been their king and protector. Frey the Sky Queen is a Harpy, she is obsessed with heights and has some delusions about taking over the world tree and making it her nest. Good thing she has yet to act on it or the demon lords would have become nine long ago. Last is Clayman the Marionette Master, he's taken over our old home and enslaved all the elves that chose to remain rather than follow mother here. There isn't much to say about him other than that he's a schemer and has a one-sided rivalry with Leon. Honestly the newest generation is made of weaklings except for Leon. I sometimes see it as being a miracle that the other three have yet to lose their heads, guess that's the influence of being an acknowledged Demon Lord.'
'So, the Demon Lords divide the world between them, one of which even enslaved your own kind, and you do nothing?'
Sigh 'It's not that easy, first of all there are some that are completely untouchable like Guy, Milim, Dagruel and even Ramiris since going after her would mean making Guy and Milim your enemy. The rest aren't exactly pushovers but that's not really the problem, the real issue is that the other Demon Lords might see one of them being defeated as a challenge or a provocation. That would mean that whoever eliminates one of them risks making the rest of them their permanent enemy where a coalition, at least amongst the weaker ones, becomes a reality.'
'I see where you are coming from.'
Elmesia is right, making an enemy of beings that stand at the peak of power in the world is simply not an option.
'You need not worry for you too stand at the peak of the world.'
'Dominus… how can you be so sure? I might have an Ultimate Skill but so does Elmesia and likely even Sylvia but from how everything was explained, it looks as though not even they are confident when the older Demon Lords are involved.'
'There are three major requirements to become a true rival to those ancient beings, the first and most important is having an Ultimate Skill, only an Ultimate Skill user can kill another Ultimate Skill user. This is an unbreakable law, though few Unique Skills can rival Ultimate ones it would be wishful thinking for one to believe that they do indeed stand a real chance of defeating one with true power as acknowledged by the world. Second would be a magicule count of no less than two million, you have passed this requirement after your naming, and you shall continue to grow your reserves for as long as you live for you are the Primal Umbra. This brings me to the third requirement; one must be special in some way. Guy Crimson is the Red Primordial Demon born of the great spirit of darkness, Milim Nava is the daughter of the creator himself, Ramiris is an intrinsic part of the world making her existence as eternal as True Dragons. Dino is a Primordial angel born of the great spirit of light. Dagruel is an anomaly the creator himself had to restrain. All those who matter are those who are born special in one way or another. You are the one and only Primal Umbra, you are an existence born foreign to the world, the void is yours to claim, and oblivion is your birth right.'
