As Gale bid farewell to his mother, he couldn't help but let his father's words echo in his mind. It was a common occurrence, but lately, his father's motivations seemed more frequent and charged with a purpose that eluded Gale's understanding. However, he promptly dismissed any unease. After all, it was his father, and all the encouragement seemed directed at his development. Nothing more, nothing less.
Lost in his thoughts, a punch to his shoulder brought him back to reality. Turning around, it was no surprise to find his school friend, Bato, responsible for the playful gesture.
"Good morning, Gale! Have you heard about the Fire Nation soldiers that docked on the coast today?" Bato asked.
Upon hearing Bato's question, Gale wondered whether he should confirm that, yes, he was aware of the Fire Nation soldiers' landing and the reasons behind their arrival. As the son of one of the tribe's elders, Gale possessed privileged knowledge about matters involving the Southern Tribe. The presence of the White Lotus, the Fire Nation, and the Earthbenders clearly indicated that something significant was happening, and the underlying reason for all these movements was intrinsically linked to the Avatar.
Pretending surprise, Gale caught Bato's enthusiastic question.
"Really? Tell me more about it, Bato," replied Gale with a warm smile. As the son of one of the tribe's elders, Gale knew the importance of maintaining a positive and friendly image. It was part of his role to be warm and well-regarded by the Southern Tribe, a lesson instilled in him since early on.
The conversation between the two friends continued animatedly until they reached the school.
