Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Fighting the demon(2)

With a thud, I crumpled to the ground, my body sinking into the unforgiving stone beneath me. The impact jarred my senses, and I became acutely aware of the dull ache in my side. As I touched the area, a sharp, stabbing pain shot through me like lightning. It dawned on me – I must have broken a rib, maybe even two. Every movement was met with searing jolts of suffering as I tried to raise from the ground

My gaze fixed on the demon who towered over me, his amused smile only adding to my frustration and fear. In the distance, a group of goblins began to approach, emboldened by my incapacitated state.

Clenching my dagger tightly, I prepared for battle as best as I could in my weakened state. However, before I could even make a move, the demon rose from his sedentary position and raised a commanding hand. A sinister voice echoed through the cavern, "Cease!"

The monsters immediately halted their advance under the demon's authority. His eyes locked onto mine, and he spoke with a cruel satisfaction, "You humans are more entertaining when you struggle. I'll let you savor the despair a bit longer."

The goblins, though halted in their attack, lurked in the shadows with a menacing presence. Their malevolent eyes glinted in the dim light, fixed upon me like predators stalking their prey. The demon, seemingly entertained by my predicament, sauntered towards me with a smug grin on his face.

As he approached, his piercing gaze shifted from the ongoing battle to focus on me, lying on the ground and gasping for breath after my tumultuous landing. His lips curled into a sinister smile as he remarked, "That must have been quite an unpleasant fall. Are you hurt?"

He then leaned closer, his cold eyes fixated on me as he spoke in a low voice, "I hope so, I've been terribly bored since my assignment here. Here's a proposition for you, human. If you manage to land even one hit on me, I'll spare your pathetic life."

Quickly, I lunged forward and swung my dagger at the demon's exposed side, aiming for any weakness I could find, not that I believed his proposal but I needed for him to lower his guard. But he effortlessly blocked my strike with his own weapon, seizing my arm in a vice-like grip that sent shockwaves of agony through me. With a swift motion, he hurled me towards a nearby wall, my body colliding with it with bone-shattering force. As I crumpled to the ground in pain, I could feel the demon's calm presence looming over me.

"Invoke me, Favian! This is your only chance," Baalkaroth's voice urged.

I gritted my teeth, torn between the excruciating pain and the decision to invoke the demon. Despite the agony, I resisted, determined to find a way out on my terms, after all had I invoked the devil , I would have killed the dog and allowed the tiger to take its place.....

The searing pain coursing through my body was nearly unbearable, but I refused to succumb to it. With every ounce of strength left in me, I forced myself upright, my muscles trembling with the effort. Blood flowed freely from my wounds, staining the ground beneath me and testing the limits of my endurance.

With a fierce determination, I thrust my dagger towards the demon's vulnerable stomach, hoping to end this fight once and for all. But he evaded my strike with alarming ease, his movements fluid and precise. In return, he delivered a brutal blow to my already injured stomach, sending waves of agony through my battered form. Gasping for breath, I clutched the hilt of my dagger tightly as I struggled to stay standing.

But in that moment, I saw an opening in the demon's stance. Summoning all the strength I had left, I swung my stump towards his head in a desperate attempt to turn the tide. The demon anticipated the move and dodged with a mocking smile on his face.

The arrogant prick did not even realize he fell into my trap....

My swing didn't end there,as it stopped right in front of that fucker's face - using my ability , I manipulated the blood from my injury to shoot out towards him.

For a brief moment, the demon was taken aback by the unexpected turn of events as blood splattered across his face, the bastard even gave a lick to the blood to taste it. As he turned his gaze back to me, I couldn't help but let out a devilish grin.

"DIE! YOU SON OF A BITCH! " I roared with all the fury and determination within me. And without hesitation, I focused all of my energy, the blood onto his face now transformed into small, deadly spikes made entirely of blood, these projectiles pierced through the demon's flesh - most crucially, striking his eyes and blinding him completely.

That's it , I still have a chance ....

The demon writhed in agony, his sharp claws scraping against the rocky walls of the cavern. His anguished howls echoed through the vast chamber, reverberating off the damp stone and sending shivers down my spine. Seizing the opportunity, I sprinted with my dagger gripped tightly in hand.

With swift precision, I lunged forward and plunged the blade into the demon's stomach, eliciting a guttural roar from the monstrous creature. Simultaneously, I harnessed my ability once more, converting the blood streaming from my arm into a small lance. The makeshift blade pierced through flesh and bone as it embedded itself deep into the demon's chest, with my stump directly touching his chest, and an half-meter blood lance passing through it.

Undeterred by my attack, the demon swung his massive arm with brutal force, sending me flying across the cavern floor. I landed with a thud, my body battered and bruised from the impact. But my determination remained unshaken, fueled by a burning desire to defeat this malevolent being.

Fucking hell ...how much are they hard to kill?Had I even suffered half of those wounds I would have died on the spot, yet the prick was still running around full of life.

Continuing the attack, this time from the distance, I pressed my hand onto the spilled blood from my missing hand, willing it to transform into small arrows that shot towards the demon. Each arrow found its mark with deadly accuracy, piercing through the demon's thick skin and eliciting agonized roars from him.

"Are you still bored? Don't worry, I'll make sure this fight entertains you to your very last breath!" I taunted him, conjuring even more arrows.

But amidst my frenzied attack, Baalkaroth's voice suddenly broke through my mind with urgent warning. "Favian, get away! It's a trap!" His words were like a bucket of cold water being poured over me,but I was as hot as lava in that moment.

I saw my chance to strike a fatal blow. With renewed determination, I conjured more arrows and sent them hurtling towards the demon, as I run towards it while holding the dagger. In the frenzy of battle, I felt invincible, heedless of the potential danger looming ahead.I was doing it, I was killing a fucking demon, the apex race in this shit-novel.

In a sudden and ominous shift, the demon's body contorted and twisted in an unnerving display of power. His eyes glowed with an otherworldly light, and his mouth stretched impossibly wide, revealing jagged teeth that seemed to glow with malice. With a foreboding gesture, his hands intertwined.

Baalkaroth's urgent shouts echoed through my mind like a warning siren.

"IT'S A SOULD PROJECTION , RUN!" he shouted, but his words were drowned out by the overwhelming fear that gripped me. How could this demon possess such terrifying abilities? Fucking hell, soul projections are not fucking candies; how the hell does he have one?

My mind raced as I frantically searched for an escape route, but before I could react, darkness surged from the demon's form. It enveloped me in its suffocating embrace, trapping me in his realm with no way out. I had fallen right into his trap...like a fly onto the spider web.
