Chapter 3 - C3: How to kill a Vampire

1 day after the call…

Jamie's white curly hair wavered in the wind as he rode his Wrangler across the bridge of June City.

The city stood majestic with the sun rising behind the tall structures.

His blue eyes were covered with his aviator shades. The wind wavered his leather jacket collars.

The sea breeze was cold and strong in June. All the windows of the car were wide open to let the breeze sweep in.

"You're messed up, kid. You need to get your mind off of this."

The words from Lacie came back to his mind.

With his hands gently resting on the wheel of the Wrangler, he pondered the words. He could feel the kick from the excitement coming back to him.

Memories of his Supernatural hunts with his uncle came back to his head – but as soon as he remembered his uncle, Jamie clicked his tongue.

"I hate that motherfucker." He muttered, speeding up the Wrangler.

But the lessons he gave him were hard to remove from his head. It took a motherfucker like that to let him understand how to put down a Vampire.

A confused grin drew on Jamie's face upon recalling his Uncle Jimmy.

By noon, Jamie was inside the hotel room he took for the day with a gigantic black suitcase filled with weapons to use against the vampires.

While recollecting the details of the call with Lacie, he started to prepare the weapons.

The voices from the call he had on New Year's Eve started to play on repeat once again inside his head.

Jamie: "So, give me the details of the Vampire. When and where?"

The young man laid the set of weapons on the clean sheets of the bed. One shotgun, one machine gun, one pistol, one metal crane, one mini-axe, one crossbow, and a case of anti-Vamps including the wooden stakes.

Lacie: "At night. Did you forget that too? Write it down. Your drunk ass might forget it so write it down in your notes or something."

Jamie grabbed the anti-vamps box and opened it.

Jamie: "I am writing it down, actually."

Inside, there was a large bottle of fresh garlic oil and a collection of silver bullets.

Grinning, he loaded the pistol with the bullets.

Lacie: "The location is the Marriott Club. You could never miss it. It's a shady club, of course. The hotel you're going to stay at the very next day ironically happens to be the exact same one above this shady club. Ask a server or any guy at the counter where the "Marriott" is… and boom. You're in. Well, you have to pay up."

After loading the bullets into the gun, he grabbed a bag and pushed in the wooden stakes inside it.

Jamie: "That's it? Oh, I almost forgot. What grade is this Vampire?"

Upon recalling the grade of the vampire, Jamie couldn't help but take a few seconds to stare at the metal crane. He had witnessed what a high-grade Vampire could do. Ripped his uncle's friend clean in two.

He grasped the silver metal cane and smeared it with the garlic oil, every inch of it. It was coated with black paint so that the vampires wouldn't notice its silver until it burned into their skulls.

Lacie: "Yeah, it's a Grade A vampire. But you're a fuckin' Helsing. You can take on anything, man. You can take on any vampire walking the Earth."

Jamie held the metal cane right in front of his eyes and smelled the garlic smeared on it.

Jamie: "Ugh… it's a high grade, Lacie. Are you sure I should take on this one? I won't die on my first solo mission, right?"

Lacie: "Do you want to be a pussy forever or do you want to go to Jimmy's grave and just laugh at it saying how better you were at killing vampires than he was?"

He gradually closed his eyes and kissed the garlic oil-smeared cane on its cold metal surface. A gentle and passionate kiss.
