"Rhys... let go of me," Slyvia struggled, as she tried to push him away,
But the more she fought against him, the tighter his grip became. "No!" he yelled, "I won't let you go anywhere. I'm not making that mistake again. We're staying here, together, for as long as it takes. I refuse to let that devil take you from me. You're mine! You belong to me!"
"Rhys... I swear, I won't leave," Slyvia tried to calm him. "We can talk when you've sobered up. Can you just let me go for now?"
At her words, I noticed a flicker of uncertainty cross Rhys's face. He gradually loosened his grip, gazing deeply into her eyes. "You promise... you won't abandon me? You won't leave me again?" he asked, his voice tinged with vulnerability.
She nodded earnestly. "I promise!"
But all at once, the storm within him erupted again. "NO!" he shouted, his eyes blazing with anger and hurt. "You're a liar! You've broken every vow you've ever made to me! I can't trust you anymore!"
