The scene cuts to the Robinson's house moments later. As the door flung open to its final extreme, noises filled up what had just seconds ago been a quiet and peaceful Robinson household.
"There had to be a reasonable explanation for all this," Jonathan said, stressed.
"You think?" Marcus asked.
"Maybe we were just drunk," Jonathan suggested.
"Drunk!? When did we all chug our beers together?" Eric questioned.
"Right? And how can you even say that! The kids wouldn't possibly be drinking!" Michelle retorted, clearly annoyed.
The scene then cut to an airport in the afternoon. Minutes before disaster could strike in New York, Dominic Brooks, a confident white businessman in his late 40s, stood at the base of the stairs leading to his private jet. A mysterious figure, presumably male and dressed in black, approached.
"Sir, your schedule is quite packed. After your meetings, you'll need to join the other board members," the mysterious figure informed Dominic.
"Yes, I was well aware. I'll be there; the board meeting is not until four weeks from now, Saturday, at 4:00 PM. It's marked in my calendar and etched in my mind. I have everything under control. The board won't start without me," Dominic responded confidently.
The mysterious figure then reminded Dominic, "Also, remember to collect some samples from the employees for further testing."
Dominic smirked, clearly pleased with himself. "Of course, I always make time for the little people."
The mysterious figure handed Dominic a tablet displaying a list of cities and a black flash drive. "These are the locations of the distributors. All this content is also stored inside the lab."
Dominic took the tablet and flash drive; his narcissistic behavior was on full display. Suddenly, his phone rang. He pulled it out and started a call with an important agency. Dominic quietly waved his hand, signaling the mysterious figure to leave.
"Uh!" Dominic exclaimed on the phone.
It seems like an inexplicable phenomenon occurred where Dominic and the mysterious figure started floating, along with others in the vicinity. The private jet also started floating but only a few inches off the ground. Before anyone could react, everything fell back to the ground as if gravity had been restored. The private jet exploded upon impact, killing Dominic and the Mysterious Figure instantly. .
The scene cuts back to Robinson's house where Jonathan holds his head tightly due to stress and mainly from the impact on the stairs earlier.
"Honey!" Michelle called out worriedly.
Michelle notices Jonathan's injuries and takes out a tissue from her purse to wipe off his forehead and lips. Jonathan is stressed out with his stress levels reaching up to ninety-nine percent. He shrugs her off, turning now to face Jake Robinson, who is closing windows and curtains shut, acting as if they'd uncover a greater deal just among themselves.
Jonathan, puzzled, asks his son, "Jake, what are you doing?"
Jake responds confidently, "What I'm doing is... protecting our family, who now suddenly possesses a greater deal... A power from the outside world. Stay secretive, dad," Jake said.
Jonathan, annoyed, retorts, "Your imaginations are wild, son!" Doria teases her brother, "Earth calling Jake Robinson."
Jake doesn't find it amusing and responds, "Mmhp! Funny how we almost flew out of the earth's orbit." He then adds, "By the way, I already thought of names and-"
Jonathan interrupts him, "No! I don't want to hear anything! And you kids are so admirably relaxed, carefree of what just happened! Genuinely speaking, don't you care about your lives?"
Jake responds calmly, showing no sign of panic disorder, "Of course, we do."
Jonathan headed straight to the kitchen and grabbed a long cup glass, pouring it full of beer. Meanwhile, Eric grabbed the remote control and turned on the TV, which showed news about what had just happened minutes ago.
The female news anchor reported, "Now for the most serious topic of discussion. A sudden, or as scientists now call it, a gravity shutdown!"
Michelle reacted worriedly to the news report, "Gravity shutdown!" Images caught on camera showed in front of the TV screen, including one of the woman, mom, and Daniel.
The female news anchor continued her report, "Which made things float for a mere seventeen seconds, but it was enough to make people well aware of it." Doria interrupted her brother's secretive plan, "It's secretive, huh!"
The female news anchor went on to mention the names of different countries where this strange phenomenon occurred. "It took place in some parts of the world, in areas like Angola, Australia, the Philippines, Chad, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Belgium..."
As she continued mentioning the countries' names, Eric muted the volume as he was still unable to understand what was actually happening.
Meanwhile, Jonathan chugged down his second glass. As he positioned himself to drink for the third time, the glass didn't even reach his lips. Michelle snatched it away, tossing every bit of it into the kitchen sink.
Jonathan reacted annoyed to Michelle's action and asked her, "Was that necessary?"
Michelle yelled at him in response, "Why do you look so wasted?" The room went silent; nobody uttered a word; eyes ready to see what would be next for the two couples.
Michelle composed herself and said to Jonathan, "This whole gravity shutdown, this whole strange phenomenon, only lasted about seconds! But it looks like it severely beat you up."
Jonathan agreed, "No doubt it did."
Michelle sighed and said to Jonathan in an emotional tone, "Jonathan, the kids need someone stronger; someone to help them go through this strange occurrence."
Feeling sure, Jonathan told Michelle, "Sure, there is no need to worry about that." But before he could finish his sentence, Michelle emotionally left the room and headed to their master bedroom. Jonathan followed behind, leaving the room with Jake and Doria, and exclaimed, "Jake just imagined all of this to be some superhero play!" Doria glanced at Jake, indicating that it was his fault.
Jonathan rushed in after Michelle, feeling sorry for his careless actions. He started to apologize, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I just-" but was cut off by Michelle, who wiped a few tears off and reassured him, "No, it's alright. The heck just happened; it would be normal for an adult to lose a few screws." Jonathan smiled softly but looked offended.
Michelle continued, "We just need to appear to be strong for the kids. To make them think at least that they are safe when with us." Mimi found herself present in her parents' bedroom and leaped onto the side of the bed.
Jonathan agreed with Michelle, "You're right. I-I better go and talk to Kelvin to see what we can do, and-" But before he could finish his sentence, Michelle talked firmly, interrupting him, "You're staying with the kids."
The mood in the atmosphere changed again as if they were now arguing and playing with each other's sensitive nerves.
