Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: His Eyes

Jiang Qian is dead.

Lin Qiyue witnessed the entire process of her death.

The monster descended from the sky, slicing her neck with its nails as if cutting tofu, then gleefully feasting on her remains.

Until the last moment, Jiang Qian's eyes were filled with terror and despair.

Lin Qiyue's mental clarity captured every detail, and his stomach churned, almost causing him to vomit.

Despite enduring much hardship and adversity, his mind had matured beyond his years. However, this gruesome scene was a first for him.

Now was not the time to vomit.

Without hesitation, Lin Qiyue, seizing the opportunity while the monster feasted on Jiang Qian's corpse, turned and ran in the opposite direction of the alley!

The original retreat was blocked by the monster, so he had to go the way where Wang Shao had been attacked.

The monster seemed more interested in corpses than chasing the living, and its lack of pursuit gave Lin Qiyue a momentary relief.

He didn't know what kind of creature this monster was, but it certainly didn't fit into the categories of "human" or any known "beast."

If someone suggested it was a radiation-mutated humanoid ape, he might have believed it. Its physique, strength, and speed were beyond what a normal human could contend with.

But it was just a "perhaps."

In this mist-covered world, having personally witnessed the existence of the Archangels, Lin Qiyue did not believe that science was the only truth in the world.

He believed in the existence of the "mysterious."

Moreover, Lin Qiyue couldn't shake the feeling that he had heard of this monster's appearance somewhere before.

Lost in his thoughts, something else entered his mental perception range. Lin Qiyue abruptly halted, coming to a stop.

His breathing became increasingly heavy.

In front of him, within ten meters, the figure of the monster appeared again. Lin Qiyue was certain it wasn't the same one as before.

Although they looked similarly grotesque, they were definitely different creatures.

The most obvious evidence was that this monster was holding Wang Shao's lifeless body and continued to feast on it.

This was the second monster.

The one that killed Wang Shao!

When he was with Jiang Qian and the others earlier, he didn't see the scene ten meters away subconsciously thinking there was only one monster. But now, looking back, he realized how wrong he was.

From the behavior of the monster that killed Jiang Qian, it preferred to eat corpses rather than chase after the living, or else Lin Qiyue wouldn't have escaped the scene.

But immediately after Wang Shao's death, another monster started pursuing Lin Qiyue and the others.

This could only mean that another monster was already enjoying Wang Shao's corpse.

One alley, two monsters, completely blocking all of Lin Qiyue's retreat.

Lin Qiyue's face turned extremely pale, a feeling of despair rising within him.

In the past seventeen years, only two things had truly made him despair.

One was ten years ago when he saw the eyes on the moon.

The other was now.

In front of him, the monster that had just consumed a face looked at Lin Qiyue as if it had just discovered a beautiful woman, let out a screech, and leaped towards him.

"Damn it, I'm not afraid of you!" Lin Qiyue roared, facing the leaping monster with his broken white cane.

The distance between the two rapidly closed!

Just as the monster's claws were about to slash Lin Qiyue's throat, he suddenly turned, narrowly avoiding the attack!

However, although Lin Qiyue could perfectly grasp the monster's movements, his own physical abilities were still lacking. The claws grazed his temple, leaving a faint bloodstain.

At the same time, the black ribbon was cut, carried away by the swirling wind, disappearing into the night.

Lin Qiyue closed his eyes, seizing the opportunity. He yelled, and his broken white cane stabbed towards the monster's abdomen!

Crack!

A crisp sound echoed. Lin Qiyue felt his hands lighten, and then a huge force came from behind, directly pulling him away!

Thrown to the ground, Lin Qiyue rolled a few times, enduring the pain, and got up. His mental perception indicated that the white cane in his hand had been broken in two.

The cane was originally designed for the visually impaired and wasn't particularly sturdy. Colliding with the exceptionally hard monster, it naturally couldn't withstand the impact.

"Damn it!" He cursed, throwing the remaining half of the white cane to the ground.

Finally seizing an opportunity, and it was wasted like this.

The broken white cane was like igniting a fuse, instantly igniting all the emotions within Lin Qiyue. Standing there, he clenched his fists tightly, nails sinking into the flesh, leaving bloody marks.

"I don't accept it!" He roared!

In this moment of surging emotions, a strange sensation suddenly surged into his heart.

Like a warm spring breeze, it naturally flowed out from his heart, touching the stagnant place in his mind, gently touching it...

The layer of paper window then burst open!

Lin Qiyue felt as if a sun had erupted within him, an unprecedented heat filling his entire body, and the closed eyes beneath his eyelids were as if being roasted, scorching hot!

So, naturally...

He opened the eyes that had been closed for ten years.

And these eyes saw the last scene—a pair of eyes,

The eyes of the Archangel!

In an instant, a dazzling column of hot light erupted from the edge of the old city's alley, piercing through the sky!

At this moment, the dark night became as bright as day!
