Chapter 75 - Chapter 75

Previously in NWC-

Reno and Luna begin getting things set aside for the trip. They also begin introducing Luna as Reno's sister which quickly devolves to them trying to embarrass the other more...

Deb nods her head. "Really now? Well, I'd love to hear about this little rascal!" She playfully ruffles Luna's hair, smiling.

Reno crosses his arms and smiles smugly. "Of course! I remember when she was just a little baby, still in diapers! I had to change her a couple of times and she just wouldn't cooperate!"

"RENO!" Luna's face flares up with embarrassment, turning a shade of red that was previously thought to be impossible.

"She liked to kick her feet while you tried changing her and laughed when you tried to hold her feet down!" At first he spoke with the intent of embarrassing Luna, but he quickly reminisced on the time when his brother, Arthur, was an infant. "Then she grew up now she's half your height but doing so much more than me when I was her age." Reno's face turns somber as he begins thinking about his little brother.

Luna quickly realizes what's going on and she sighs, patting him on the back and speaking to Deb. "My big brother sure is a weirdo, huh?" She playfully smiles, trying to play it off. Luna pats Reno on the back and ends up silently comforting him.

Deb laughs, nodding her head. "Now that you're done being all sentimental, what can I do for ya'?" Deb confidently places her fists on her hips, smiling brightly.

Reno finally snaps out of his mild depression and shakes his head. "That's right, I almost forgot! I was wondering if you had any more bags? Now that Luna is here I need something she can carry her stuff in."

Deb thinks to herself, nodding her head after a bit. "I might need to adjust the straps, but I've got an older bag that should be good enough. Why don't you come on it and say hi to Ken while I get it ready? He's been wondering about you since the festival."

"Oh, sure!" Reno and Luna follow Deb inside, waiting at the counter like usual.

"Ken, Reno is here! He brought his sister too!" Deb shouts into the shop before leaving through the other door.

After a couple of seconds the shop gets noticeably quieter. Kent enters and waves. "Hey, Reno. Feeling better?" An eyebrow raises when he sees Luna. "Hmm, and who's this?"

Reno sighs. He was wondering how many more times he'd have to say it before he accidentally convinced himself they were actually related. "I'm doing great! And this is my little sister, Luna."

Luna bows politely. Reno and Luna silently decide not to mess with the other this time around, opting for a normal introduction. "It's nice to meet you, sir."

Kent nods his head, turning back to Reno. "Didn't know you had a sister. Somethin' happen with your parents?"

Reno shakes his head dismissively. "Nothing bad, just business. I'll be taking care of her for the time being."

"I see." Kent looks back at Luna, thinking. "Sorry, kid, there's not much fun for a kid your age around here. Not much fun in general, if I'm bein' honest. Is your brother keeping you entertained?"

Luna nods her head and smiles sweetly. "He's taking me to the capitol next week!"

Reno motions to the room in which they are standing. "That's why we came hoping you guys had another bag we could buy so Luna has something to carry some of her things in."

Kent scratches his chin, letting out a noise of understanding as he listens. "Hmm, makes sense. You aren't traveling in the usual getup, are you?" Kent raises an eyebrow, looking Reno up and down.

Reno tilts his head in confusion, furrowing his brow. "What do you mean? I'm not going to wear the same pair of clothes if that's what you're asking."

"No, I meant you aren't going to take any armor or anything?"

Reno looks down at himself, realizing how much better the last month would have been if he had armor. "I mean, I don't really have any, and we're leaving in less than a week. It's not like I have the time to order any."

Kent shakes his head, crossing his arms. "Wait here kid." Kent retreats to the shop once more, coming out moments later a suit of leather armor. The dark brown leather was accented by what appeared to be small intricate designs that had been pressed in with a tool. Kent hands over the armor, motioning towards it. "Try it on, kid." Without any further instructions, he begins clumsily equipping the arm. By the time he's gotten the main piece on it's apparent it's slightly oversized, but nothing too crazy. "Hmm, I think I can work with this. Tell you what kid, I'll resize the armor and sell it to you at a discount if you want. You're gonna' need something a bit better than nothing if you're gonna' protect your little sister."

Reno looks back at Luna, thinking. He sighs as she smiles and turns back to Kent. "Yeah, I guess you're right. My little sister can be a bit overbearing at times. So, now that you've pointed out my lack of armor, she'll never let me hear the end of it until I get something. How much do you want for it?"

Kent thinks to himself, writing numbers in the air as he makes his calculations. "How about 10 dulls? I think that's pretty reasonable considering I'll be resizing it."

Reno agrees, pulling out his coin purse. "Sure, sounds great! (I still have no clue how much a lot in this world is.)" Reno hands over the money and Kent nods his head.

"Well then, I'll be workin' on this if you need me. It was nice meeting you Luna." Kent nods and makes his way into the shop with the armor.

Not long after, Deb returns. "Here we go!" She plops a bag on the table. The bag is a tealish color that looks like an oversized purse you wear on your back. The bag had a single sling that you used to wrap around your body like normal. While on the smaller side, it looked like it would be doable. Reno picks the bag up, poking it for holes and not finding any. Deb watches speaking as he checks the bag.. "I don't wanna give out too many free things so how about you pay 2 dulls and call it good?"

Reno shrugs his shoulders and hands over the money, handing the bag to Luna. "Wanna try it on?"

Luna tosses the bag over her shoulder. She looks down at it then does a little spin, observing the bag. She smiles and nods her head, seemingly liking the bag. "Thanks Reno, you're the best!" Luna smiles brightly, clenching her fists with excitement.

Deb, seemingly satisfied, nods her head and crosses her arms. "That there suits you, little lady! Take good care of it! It's a present from your big brother after all!" Deb yawns, the afternoon warmth causing her to be drowsy. "Well, if there's nothing else you need then I think it's about time I found something to keep me awake, otherwise I'll be asleep before 6!"

Reno and Luna wave as they exit the shop, stepping back out on the street. They decide to have a quick plan update, going over the things they can do today. "I don't think there's much we can do until it gets closer to the day we're leaving."

"I agree. Perhaps we can go see how CeCe and Lyn are doing with game planning the discussion tomorrow?"

Reno nods his head in agreement. "That sounds good to me. Let's head over there." They begin making their way to Lyn's shop, but their attention is grabbed by something on the way. Reno spots the gate to the church is wide open along with the door to the actual building. Curious, he takes a detour to investigate, his curiosity winning the better of him.

"What's wrong Reno? You look confused, is something going on?"

Reno points to the church and speaks. "I just haven't actually seen this place open until right now. I kind of wanted to check it out. Is that going to be an issue?"

Luna shakes her head. Reno was worried about being annoying, but in reality it was the opposite. Luna was excited to see the inside of the last church dedicated to her. "No problem at all! I'm actually quite excited!" The two make their way to the church, entering it slowly and taking in their surroundings. Their attention is grabbed, however, by an older gentleman. He's wearing a white robe with a water drop on it, presumably the insignia given to Luna due to her elemental mastery.

The man suddenly approaches, a calm but big smile on his face. "Hello, my children! It is always nice to see new faces!"
