"Rebecca, are you awake?" Maria sat by her daughter's unconscious side every day, having served Mordret faithfully.
Though she longed to spend every moment with Rebecca, Maria couldn't do it. After Eliza's sudden disappearance, she took it on herself to serve Mordret.
And she did not regret it.
"You know what, Rebecca, I was serving dinner to the Lord the other day when—" Maria's excitement bubbled over as she shared every detail about her day with her daughter.
"There are papers stacked on his desk. He's always tired, sometimes even falls asleep right there. Every morning, he suddenly starts throwing tantrums about work and—" Holding Rebecca's hand, Maria spun tales of the Lord. Every detail she shared was filled with her admiration of Mordret.
Having spent nearly all her time with Mordret, Maria slowly uncovered facets of him that only Eliza had ever seen. She found herself enjoying his company.
