Chapter 13 - GAME OF THRONES

The queen stood by the window of her grand chamber, watching with narrowed eyes as her maid slipped inside.

"The princess is at the training ground, Your Highness," the maid whispered, her voice barely audible in the vast room.

"I see," the queen murmured, her lips curling into a disdainful smirk. "This is going to be very fun. That naive little thing might have thought taming a dragon is effortless."

She turned away from the window, pacing slowly across the room as she spoke. "But this isn't just any dragon. This is the most powerful species this kingdom has ever witnessed."

A cold, calculated gleam shone in her eyes as she continued, her voice low and dangerous. "This could even cause her death, and no one would be suspicious of a single thing."

A vicious laugh escaped her lips, echoing off the ornate walls of the chamber. The queen's mind was ablaze with dark thoughts and sinister plans. She relished the idea of the princess's downfall, of cementing her own power and dominance over the kingdom.

"But, Your Highness, the king is still watchful of the princess. He organized a long line of knights so they would be able to protect her if something goes wrong." The maid said, her eyes flashing with concern.

The queen's eyes flashed with irritation at her maid's words. "That little minx would snatch the power from our hands sooner rather than later, yet my husband still sympathizes with his niece, I see," she spat, her voice dripping with venom.

She paced the length of the chamber, her mind racing with frustration and anger. The king's continued protection of the princess posed a significant obstacle to her plans.

She had hoped that the girl's reckless pursuit of the dragon would lead to her demise, but the king's interference threatened to derail everything.

"Enough of his foolish sentimentality," the queen declared, her voice steely with determination. "We cannot allow his soft-heartedness to stand in the way of what must be done."

"Wisteria is mine. I would not deliver it to anyone who is not my blood! I would not fall for a stupid treaty her mother had made with the court, she would not live long enough to rule." the queen grunted, her words dripping with malice.

Turning to her maid, she fixed her with a cold, hard stare. "We must find a way to remove the princess from the equation permanently. And if the king insists on protecting her, then we shall deal with him as well."

A dark smile twisted the queen's lips as she contemplated the grim task ahead. She would stop at nothing to secure her power and eliminate any threats to her rule, even if it meant betraying her own husband.

The game of thrones was a ruthless one, and she intended to emerge victorious, no matter the cost.

"We're going to do this together," she said, her voice filled with quiet determination. "You will let me ride you, won't you?"

Cielle gaze into the dragon, her eyes filled with hope and a hint of apprehension. The creature, towering above her, watched her closely with its piercing gaze. There was no growl of warning this time, just a quiet intensity in its eyes.

"You ready?" She whispered.

Her heart pounded loudly in her chest, a mixture of fear and excitement coursing through her veins.

She reached out her other hand tentatively, craddling it's face in both of her hands which seem so small all of a sudden. To her surprise, the creature remained very calm, allowing her touch without protest.

Encouraged by the dragon's passive demeanor, Cielle stepped closer, her anticipation growing with each step.

She could feel the adrenaline building within her, the thrill of the unknown beckoning her forward.

Riding a dragon was something she had never dreamed of, but now, faced with the opportunity, she couldn't resist the chance to seize it.

With a determined nod, Cielle began to climb atop the dragon's back. The scales were sleek beneath her hands, but she held on tightly, her muscles straining with the effort. The dragon remained still, almost as if it were inviting her to mount it.

As Cielle settled into position on the dragon's broad back, a gasp escaped her lips. She felt so high and can't wait to find out how it feels to be flying in the sky.

The rush of victory flooded through her, mingling with the fear and excitement of the moment.

The right next moment anxiousness filled her within because she had never ridden a dragon before so she had no idea what could possibly go wrong. But she was a little too proud that she tame the dragon enough to let her ride him.

She could taste the sweet tang of triumph on her tongue, a sensation unlike any other she had ever experienced.

With newfound confidence coursing through her veins, Cielle glanced down at the dragon beneath her. A smile spread across her face as she realized the magnitude of what she was about to do.

Together, they would conquer the skies, forging a bond that transcended fear and doubt.

"Good luck, Princess, the dragon would come back right here, because the collar in his throat would prevent him from fleeing here." One of the guard assured her. And that is when she thought about the dragon fleeing here and taking her with him.

Thank god it had that collar.
