Meanwhile, on the Savage Island, Carol frowned. She had indeed received a distress call from Nick Fury. At this point, the development of Savage Island was on track. With Carol's constant assistance, and the technological prowess of the Kryptonian spaceship, the new base was quickly shaping up. Even without Clark's presence, operations continued smoothly.
Not only were living supplies in order, but the farmland was also fully cultivated. Jor-El had even designed personal rooms and activity areas for everyone based on Earth's aesthetics, including a special place for Robert to train.
However, while helping out, Carol received Nick Fury's distress signal and fell silent. Although she had been back on Earth for some time, Carol still wasn't sure how to communicate with Nick Fury.
In fact, during these days Carol had slowly realized that since Nick Fury had become the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., it was natural for him to become a politician, which Carol didn't quite like. Naturally, his actions and the people he interacted with would change after taking up such a position.
But, understanding aside, Carol definitely couldn't help Nick Fury against Robert and Clark. Not to mention that Carol wasn't a match for Clark, even if she could defeat him, she wouldn't strike against her own family.
Moreover, mediating was clearly not an option. Although her interactions with Clark and Robert weren't frequent, Carol could still feel that neither was willing to be commanded by official forces. They had their own lives, and if their identities were truly exposed, with the government's style of operation, the Danvers and Kent families might really have to move to Savage Island sooner.
As much as Savage Island was prepared for this, it was better not to expose their identities if possible, as that would only increase the restrictions on their future lives...
Carol's mind raced with thoughts, but she still hadn't figured out a solution as she gazed in a certain direction.
"Should you guys leave first?" Inside Nick Fury's secret base, as he frantically called for help, Robert's figure appeared next to Claire. He handed Joslin to Claire and asked.
"No, I want to go with you!" Claire held Joslin in her arms, showing no intention of leaving. She looked at Robert and shook her head firmly.
"Suit yourselves, just don't get hurt…" Robert waved his hand and looked towards a small door, saying, "I'm going to see what that mysterious energy is all about!"
Robert wasn't overly concerned about Constantine and Claire's safety. Now that he knew the eerie blue energy was inside the small door, he reasoned that any danger would likely meet him first, and those outside with guns couldn't harm Constantine and Claire significantly.
"Claire…" When Nick Fury saw Claire holding Joslin, he gave Robert a wary glance. Not knowing whether Carol would come, he definitely needed to buy some time. But before he could speak, Robert had vanished from the spot.
"Whoosh!" Just as Robert disappeared, an arrow flew towards the space outside the small door, a shot predicted by Hawkeye Barton. Although he anticipated correctly, the arrow was simply too slow. Robert was no longer in the arrow's path but had already punched through the small door.
"Boom!" The sound of the door being smashed by Robert was heard almost simultaneously with Hawkeye's arrow hitting the ground.
"Hmm? What is this?" Upon entering the small door, a trace of surprise flickered in Robert's eyes. He indeed saw the blue energy, which was moving from a central core into pipelines, showing no reaction to the intrusion. There were no formidable beings here; everything was just automatically operating with this blue energy.
"What kind of energy is this? Even more powerful than Tony Stark's Arc Reactor? Why does it block the energy of the portal?" Robert was puzzled as he looked at the bundle of blue energy, his mind racing with thoughts.
"Whoosh!" Just then, another arrow flew towards Robert's head from outside. Although Hawkeye didn't understand why Robert had rushed to the central core or why he stopped, it didn't stop Hawkeye from seizing the chance to launch a sneak attack.
"Snap!" Robert casually caught the arrow shot by Hawkeye, and a burst of energy immediately enveloped it.
"Pop!" The arrow exploded within Robert's energy but didn't release its explosive power; it seemed to be merely a dud.
"Where did this monster come from?!" But Hawkeye knew his arrow was no dud. His pupils dilated slightly, a thought flashing through his mind, "With such terrifying speed, strength, and defense, could this be another Superman or Saiyan-type creature?"
Robert tossed the remains of the exploded arrow to the ground and glanced back at Hawkeye, not yet deciding to kill him but instead walking towards the central core's blue energy.
"Don't mess around! If you let this energy leak, the explosion could
be more terrible than a nuclear blast!" Seeing Robert's actions, Hawkeye's expression changed and he urgently warned.
Others might not know what the blue energy was, but Hawkeye had some idea. He felt that if the energy were released, it could indeed deal with Robert, but at the cost of everyone's lives here, including Nick Fury.
In Hawkeye's mind, his own death was trivial, but if Nick Fury were to die, that would be a major issue. Nick Fury's role was far more important than his; he absolutely couldn't die here, not even to take down a mysterious powerhouse like Robert.
"Hmm?" Robert raised an eyebrow and looked at Hawkeye with interest, "You seem to know a lot about this energy. So tell me, what exactly is it?"
"…" Faced with Robert's question, Hawkeye fell silent, because this was one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top secrets, classified at least at a Level 9 clearance.
Had Hawkeye not been assigned to protect the researchers of the blue energy, he wouldn't have known about its origins either...
"Buzz!" Just as Hawkeye was momentarily distracted, he felt his body freeze, unable to move as if a great pressure had immobilized him. Despite his best efforts, his muscles only trembled violently, with no chance of breaking free.
This extraordinary power, beyond his understanding, even shook the seasoned heart of this trained agent.
"Buzz!" The next moment, Robert placed his hand on Hawkeye's head, and telepathy activated instantly, searching for significant memories.
Before their conversation, Hawkeye's most important memories might not have included the blue energy. But since they had just discussed it, and given Hawkeye's moment of distraction, he was likely recalling a particular memory segment...
"What is this cube? Is this blue energy coming from here?" Soon, just as Robert had expected, he saw a blue cube from Hawkeye's memory perspective, feeling the terrifying energy contained within it even through the memory.
"Such a powerful object, almost like a pure energy conglomerate. What is its capability? Powering these technological products? Developing energy weapons? Or perhaps releasing it to strike opponents? But why would this energy block a portal?" Robert pondered as he looked at the memory, then ceased the mind-reading to inquire further and study the cube in person.
"Saiyan?" Just then, Robert heard a familiar voice and turned to see Carol, glowing with a radiant light, appearing outside. She looked at the battling Claire and the surrounding combatants and said, "Alright, stop fighting!"
"Who are you?" Hearing Carol's words, Claire frowned. If not for Carol mentioning Robert's name, she wouldn't have stopped.
As Robert entered the central control room followed by Hawkeye, Claire had already started fighting with Nick Fury's side. Not only had Fury's people knocked out Joslin, but they had also nearly killed Luke's stepfather. She couldn't let that go!
Even though Nick Fury was the head of an official organization, it didn't mean he could act recklessly. Especially since Melinda and Hawkeye were right there, Fury couldn't deny anything.
Previously, Joslin was still in Coulson's hands, so Claire had held back for a while. But now, with Joslin safely rescued by Robert and in Claire's arms, she felt confident enough to protect her mother and seek vengeance.
Claire didn't just want to leave with Robert; she also wanted to stay and show Nick Fury what she was capable of.
As the fight went on, Fury's men were no match for Claire. To ordinary people, these combat squads were elite, but to a superbeing like Claire, they were nothing more than fodder. Even Melinda, who had mingled among them attempting a sneak attack on Claire, was no different.
Claire's powers, a mix of magic and super abilities, had launched her into an unparalleled mowing mode, leaving Constantine with little to no opportunity to act...
Fury's carefully trained combat squad fell one by one to Claire's hands. And now, even Fury didn't dare speak out, fearing to draw Claire's attention. He frantically continued contacting Carol, retreating until she finally appeared, imposingly ending the ongoing battle.
When Fury saw Carol, his eyes brightened, and just as he was about to speak, he heard her words first.
Fury paused, looking around, puzzled why Carol would call out a Saiyan's name when there was no Saiyan there.
But soon, Fury's gaze turned grave as he looked towards the central control room. Just feeling Robert's formidable presence, if Robert was indeed a Saiyan, Fury realized he had narrowly escaped a deadly encounter.
Fury knew his past conflicts with Robert, including several attempts to manipulate him for his own ends. If Robert learned of these, coupled with his explosive temper and strength, Fury believed he would surely die...
"No way!
How do they know each other? Saiyans have only appeared recently, and Carol hasn't been back for many years..." Fury turned back to Carol, a thought flashing through his mind.
"Carol? What brings you here? Did you come for him?" As Robert saw Carol, he stepped forward, glanced at Fury, and said with a smile, "He had my friend's mom brought here, and nearly killed his stepdad..."
"Misunderstanding!" Fury heard Robert's words, and as Carol's gaze turned towards him, he quickly explained, "That's my sister. I invited her to inquire about the supernatural world, nothing malicious. As for his stepdad, that's completely baseless. We didn't...hmm? A werewolf?"
Fury was explaining when he suddenly remembered Coulson's mention of a werewolf attack. He opened his mouth slightly, looking at the unconscious Joslin.
While he wasn't particularly close to Joslin, hearing that his sister had chosen a werewolf as a partner still felt odd to him, especially since Joslin's previous partners hadn't been very reliable, and this one seemed even less so...
