Chapter 256 - Chapter 256: Angels and the Loom of Fate

"Yeah! I also think I look really good now that I've grown up! Although my combat power hasn't increased in this state, I'm sure I'll be much more formidable once I get used to it!" Robert nodded in agreement, then looked somewhat helplessly at Kara, who was staring at him with shining eyes, and said, "Hey, could you not look at me like that? It's making me uncomfortable..."

"I've seen you so many times before, what's wrong with a few more glances? I didn't use X-ray vision on you. You were the one who wasn't wearing any clothes just now..." Kara retorted with a pout, walking over to Robert and examining him with sparkling eyes.

"Hey, hey, hey!" Robert felt uneasy under Kara's somewhat aggressive gaze, especially since he felt a warm flow inside him, though he couldn't pinpoint its origin. He could only wave his hand, asking Kara to step back, and pointed to the torn fabric on the bed, saying, "I was wearing clothes. They just got torn apart because I suddenly grew bigger. Hey! Stop looking, I'll clean this up..."

Robert was trying to explain to Kara, but for some reason, when Kara saw the torn fabric on the bed, her face turned even redder, and her gaze grew even more intense, making Robert almost shiver, quickly pushing Kara out and warning, "Don't use X-ray vision on me, I'll know!"

"Hmph! I can look openly!" Kara huffed, her lips curving slightly, deliberately teasing Robert. She was in a very good mood, realizing that not only had Robert become more handsome after growing up, but his reactions were also more pronounced, making him even less resistant to teasing. It seemed that Robert had finally matured!

"What's this uncomfortable feeling..." After pushing Kara out, Robert scratched his head in confusion. He noticed the warm flow inside him cooling down and then casually destroyed the torn fabric on the bed.

Robert wasn't sleeping naked; his clothes had just burst because he suddenly grew bigger. After all, the material produced by Robert's transformation wasn't high-quality; otherwise, it wouldn't have been so easily damaged in battle.

"Now that I'm taller, I need to adjust my fighting style, especially if I activate the Giant Ape's Fury or transform into a giant ape, I'll be even bigger. It'll take some getting used to, but once I do, even if my power doesn't increase, my combat effectiveness will definitely improve!" Robert pondered, feeling his body.

Being taller has its advantages. Previously, at a height of just over 1.6 meters, Robert had to rely on flight to fight his opponents mid-air, requiring him to punch or kick from further distances. But now, that wasn't necessary, so he needed to adjust a bit.

Of course, with Robert's combat experience, such adjustments could be made in minutes during combat or training.

"Robert, you've grown taller?" Clark entered, surprised to see Robert, then widened his eyes because he noticed that Robert seemed a bit taller than himself.

"Why do you just barge in?" Robert sighed helplessly. That was the downside of family-style inn rooms, lacking individual door cards.

"Hm?" However, Robert's helplessness quickly dissipated as he also noticed that he might be, perhaps, a bit taller than Clark.

The two brothers looked at each other, falling into silence, when Jonathan and others came running over, followed by a smiling Kara, who obviously had called them over.

"That's great, Robert, you really grew taller!" The Kents were also happy to see Robert.

"Being taller is good, that's a suitable height!" The Danvers couple exchanged glances, then glanced at Kara and Robert, smiling.

"I can't believe you could still grow taller?" Alex was somewhat astonished. Honestly, she was the least believing that Robert could grow taller, given he hadn't changed at all before.

"Let's compare and see who is taller!" Kara, seeing everyone's reaction to Robert, smiled with satisfaction, then glanced at the silent Clark and started to instigate.

"Indeed, we should compare to see which of you brothers is taller. We'll be the judges!" Lana joined in the fun, flying up since she wasn't tall enough, giving her a fairer view from above.

"Hey, Clark, let's compare!" Robert showed his teeth in a smile, speaking to the silent Clark somewhat cheerfully.

Clark was silent for a moment, then stood back to back with Robert under everyone's gaze. He felt there was no need to compare because he had already seen that Robert was indeed taller.

"Robert is taller, and by a good amount, but what about his hair?" Once they stood together, it was immediately clear who was taller, but then everyone noticed that while their shoulder heights were the same, it was Robert's hair that gave him the advantage.

"Hm?" Clark, realizing Robert was taller, hadn't thought about Robert's hair. Now, hearing everyone's comments, he quickly came to his senses, suggesting, "What if we press down his hair?"

Saiyan hair, though standing upright, isn't rigid and can be pressed down. Kara did so, finding that without the hair, Robert and Clark seemed to be the same height.

To be sure, Kara used a flat board to confirm that, aside from their hair, they were indeed the same height.

Clark's hair got messed up, but he didn't mind. Knowing he was as tall as Robert brought him some balance, though he saw Robert's hair stand right back up, making him appear taller at a glance.

"Clark is 1.91 meters, so that means Robert is also 1.91 meters. But with his hair, Robert could be considered two meters tall, right? Plus, your transformations can make you even taller..." Kara looked at Robert with satisfaction and said.

"Yeah, so my minimum height is now Clark!" Robert was also satisfied, then rubbed his stomach, looking at everyone and asking, "When are we eating? I'm so hungry..."

"Wait, your appetite didn't increase with your height, did it?" Martha raised a critical issue. Though the Kents no longer worried about money thanks to Iron Man's bounty and Batman's mission rewards, an increased appetite for Robert was indeed frightening.

"No, my appetite is the same, it hasn't increased. I'm just a bit hungry right now..." Robert reassured, shaking his head and speaking softly.

"Okay, I was worried your appetite would grow to the point where a buffet wouldn't be enough for you..." Martha patted Robert's shoulder, initially wanting to pat his head but found him too tall, opting for the shoulder instead, "Let's go, we better hurry or there won't be much left to eat!"

Buffet Restaurant Owner: Please, don't come over!

Afterwards, Robert had a satisfying meal, received a refund from the buffet restaurant owner, who, not knowing Robert wasn't a local, pleaded with him not to come back. The owner offered money for Robert to dine at other buffets, seemingly a common choice among buffet owners when faced with such situations...

Meanwhile, in space, Valentin's body trembled slightly. It had been exactly seven days since Christmas, and Valentin's body had gradually calmed down, a powerful aura spreading over him without any leakage, keeping his power

 hidden within himself.

"Swish!" The next moment, Valentin opened his eyes, black and white lights bursting forth.

"Now my strength is decent, but it can be higher. Heaven, it's time to reclaim what's mine, along with my power..." Valentin's voice, not his own, spread even in the vacuum of space.

However, the divine aura on Valentin quickly dissipated, and the balance between angelic and demonic powers reemerged.

"Such powerful force!" Valentin's consciousness woke, seemingly unaware of what had just happened, only feeling excited about the power within him, though his voice didn't carry.

"Where am I? Space? I can survive in space?" Realizing his surroundings and the Earth not far away, Valentin's eyes sparkled. Even as a transcendent being, he had longed for the stars and the sea.

Yet, as Valentin looked beyond Earth, the universe seemed desolate and lifeless, except for Earth, leaving him feeling empty and turning his gaze back to Earth.

"If I regain the Holy Grail, my power will become even stronger!" Thinking of Earth, a thought flashed in Valentin's mind, and in the next moment, he dashed towards Earth.

But as he flew, a new thought emerged: "The Loom of Fate? Can see my destiny? What is that? Is angelic power guiding me? Let's go see..."

Valentin felt his consciousness drifting, not doubting the thoughts that emerged because they had led him on his path today, even finding Jocelyn and taking the Grail had been guided by such thoughts.

Soon, Valentin arrived at a factory on the outskirts, a place Robert would recognize as the first site of his killings, the Assassin's Brotherhood's base.

But the Brotherhood was long gone. When it was destroyed, other dark forces were wary, leading to unrest and conflicts among them. Over time, the Brotherhood was forgotten.

Now, the factory was truly a factory, bustling with workers, until Valentin descended, causing chaos.

"What is this person?!"

"God forbid!"

"Oh my god?!"

Shouts of alarm rose, but they were met with death, as holy light emanated from Valentin, piercing the workers before turning into demonic energy, seeming to form a mysterious formation, summoning something.

A hellish aura filled the factory, and the dead workers rose, possessed by demons, obediently following Valentin.

As a demon, Valentin needed new subordinates since Robert had killed his previous ones. Power wasn't key; what mattered was the display.

"This is where the Loom of Fate last appeared..." Valentin surveyed his demonic followers, pleased, then vanished to a spot in the factory, his holy power emerging again, melting the demons that had unwittingly followed him, with the rest kneeling in submission.

"Nothing? Why is there nothing left? I don't believe it!" Valentin's holy light spread, trying to awaken something, but found nothing, puzzling him despite his mind's guidance.

A divine consciousness took over Valentin, his demonic horns receding as he fully transformed into an angel.

But still, no trace of the Loom of Fate remained. Robert had obliterated it without leaving anything behind, inadvertently cutting off an angelic lead...
