"I'm so envious!" Not only Lana knew about the rumor that Robert was Kara's boyfriend, but Pietro and Peter Parker also heard about it. They watched Robert and Kara walk away together from two different directions, simultaneously feeling sentimental.
"It's really nice!" Selena, also watching Robert and Kara, felt a bit envious. Although the school didn't really interfere with student relationships, Selena, being quite acquainted with Clark, had asked him about the families' attitudes besides Robert.
Therefore, Selena also felt envious since Clark was truly difficult to pursue. After more than a year without progress, Selena chose to give up. After becoming just friends, their relationship seemed to improve a bit...
On the other side, Peter Parker returned to his somewhat old house. As he passed by the mailbox, he paused momentarily without reacting, but after walking past it, he stopped, stepped back, and opened the mailbox.
"Whose letter is this? Hm? Osborn? It's Harry!" After retrieving the package, Peter saw the note on it and his expression lit up with joy. He peered back into the mailbox hoping to find another package, but unfortunately, it was now empty.
"Sigh." Peter sighed lightly, but soon adjusted his mood and went back to his room to open the package, which contained a photo of him and Harry Osborn and a letter from Harry.
"Peter, why didn't you tell me in advance before you suddenly transferred schools? I thought something happened to you..." The letter expressed Harry Osborn's regret and dissatisfaction that Peter, his best friend, had left without properly saying goodbye, only leaving a letter behind, which really shouldn't have happened.
Moreover, at the end of the letter, Harry Osborn urged Peter to call him as soon as possible because communicating by letters was just too slow.
Peter Parker felt somewhat helpless reading the letter because he truly didn't know how to tell Harry Osborn about moving and transferring schools, considering he had somewhat sneaked away from New York.
Holding the photo with Harry Osborn, Peter fell into silence. Harry was truly Peter's only close friend at Midtown High in New York, even closer than Mary Jane, whom he adored.
Harry Osborn never looked down on Peter despite the significant difference in their family's social standings and often stood up for him when he was bullied, which Peter always appreciated.
As Peter was absorbed in thought holding the photo, he didn't notice a nondescript spider in the corner of the package. As he picked up the photo, the spider crawled onto his hand and, taking advantage of his distraction, bit him sharply!
"Ow!" Peter screamed in pain, saw the spider on his hand, and instinctively swatted it, killing it on the spot.
"What the heck? Spiders, really?" Peter looked at the dead spider on the floor and complained, "This house is too old, huh?"
Peter didn't realize that the spider had crawled out of the package; he thought it had come from some corner of his decrepit house...
"Peter! What's wrong?" Aunt May's concerned voice came from outside the room.
"Oh, it's nothing!" Peter, feeling dizzy, replied.
"Could that darn spider be poisonous?" After Aunt May went silent, Peter looked doubtfully at the spider's corpse on the floor.
Not sure if it was his imagination or if the spider was actually problematic, but he did feel very dizzy...
After throwing the spider in the trash, Peter, feeling exhausted, lay down on his bed and soon fell into a deep sleep, not even stirring when Aunt May called him for dinner.
Aunt May and Uncle Ben came to the room later and found Peter asleep, so they quietly closed the door without disturbing him.
During his deep sleep, Peter's body underwent radical changes, each cell strengthening and mutating, as if he had become a completely different person!
When Peter woke up the next morning, he was startled by the time and exclaimed, "Oh no, I'm going to be late! Aunt May, why didn't you wake me?"
Peter instinctively jumped out of bed, nearly hitting his head on the ceiling. When he landed, he looked up bewilderedly at the ceiling, muttering, "Is the ceiling in this new house really this low?"
Shaking his head, Peter didn't dwell on it but grabbed his glasses to get ready for school.
But when he put on his glasses, Peter realized something was off; wearing glasses actually made it harder for him to see his surroundings.
"What's going on? Is my myopia cured?" Peter scratched his head, looking confused, but he didn't have time to ponder further because he was really going to be late.
Thinking this, Peter threw his glasses onto the bed, grabbed his backpack, and rushed out, shouting to Aunt May who was still having breakfast, "Aunt May, I'm leaving now!"
"Wait, Peter..." Aunt May started to say something as
she watched Peter rush out, but he was too quick, and she soon lost sight of him.
Peter hurried to school and just made it before class started. Up ahead, he saw two familiar figures, the same Robert and Kara he had envied the day before as they walked together.
How Peter wished he could one day walk side by side with Mary Jane like Robert and Kara, drawing everyone's envy.
"Huh?" Robert suddenly stopped as he was walking to school. He felt an extraordinary presence, far beyond that of an ordinary person, coming from behind.
Instinctively, Robert turned to look in Peter's direction, his eyes flashing with confusion. He had seen Peter before and sensed his aura, but how had Peter become so much stronger all of a sudden?
"Hisss!" When Robert looked at him, Peter inexplicably gasped.
Peter felt an extreme sense of danger spreading throughout his body. At that moment, his body seemed to move on its own, jumping onto a nearby wall and clinging tightly, warily watching Robert...
