Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: Your Shield Is Really Useful (Part 3)

At this moment, Robert wasn't just trying to uncover the secret behind the gorilla person's transformations; he wanted to understand why its Qi and life force were depleting so rapidly. Could it be that these animal warriors wouldn't live long even without fighting?

Unfortunately, Robert couldn't begin his research; perhaps the gorilla person's berserk state drained too much life force. Even though Robert locked the gorilla person with his Qi-electricity, he couldn't stop it from turning into a mummy, as his Qi couldn't replenish the rapidly depleting life force.

"Sss!" The defenseless gorilla person mummy was instantly disintegrated by Robert's electric current, disappearing completely.

"Artificial creations, these people have no reverence for life!" Diana, after defeating the remaining tiger person, sighed softly, looking at the mummies, "Such desecration of life will surely backfire!"

"No worries, they'll strike again!" Robert shook his head, seriously saying, "After all, only that force is after the talisman. They won't give up easily!"

"Sss!" As Robert spoke, a shockwave targeted the crocodile person. Jackie Chan and the others were struggling, having moved beyond mere scraping, but they needed more time to fully resolve the crocodile person, so Robert intervened and took down the crocodile person.

"Huff! Huff! Huff!" Jackie Chan and Xiaoyu, somewhat exhausted, breathed heavily. Compared to Steve, who only used the Pig Talisman, they were indeed busier, especially Jackie Chan, who almost single-handedly withstood the crocodile person's berserk counterattack. Without the shield, Jackie Chan wouldn't have managed so easily.

"Tired already? Seems like you need more training. When I was young, I could fight like this all day…" Steve approached Jackie Chan, jokingly saying while his energy quickly returned to that of a normal old man.

"Your shield is really useful!" Jackie Chan, somewhat reluctantly, handed the shield back to Steve, "Wonder where I can get such a shield..."

"Sorry, if it weren't so meaningful to me, I might have considered giving it to you..." Steve accepted the shield, smiling at Jackie Chan, "You're quite adept with the shield, have you trained before?"

"No, I naturally adapt well to weapons…" Jackie Chan shook his head, asking quietly, "So, the news said you were dead. Why are you living in seclusion here, becoming a painter?"

"If there hadn't been a war, I might have been a painter already. But it's not too late; my experiences have given me plenty of inspiration. If it weren't for wanting to keep the Pig Talisman for new story ideas, this commotion wouldn't have happened. My secret base might not be safe anymore..." Steve sighed, initially feeling nostalgic, then twitched his mouth at what he saw.

Robert was cleaning the battlefield, erasing the animal warriors' mummies and nearby bloodstains.

Robert had been too focused during the fight to notice any injuries, but being cautious after combat was never

wrong. Steve fell silent upon seeing Robert's use of Qi blasts, shaking his head after a while before asking, "Are all young people this powerful nowadays? Does he also have the power of a talisman?"

"No, this is his own power." Jackie Chan looked at Robert with a hint of envy, though Robert mentioned that as long as he and Xiaoyu continued their cultivation, they would eventually possess such abilities. However, Jackie Chan felt that day might not be close.

"His own power? To have such a powerful individual, Section 13 must protect his information well. If others find out, they will definitely try to poach him..." Steve paused, smiling as he advised.

"In fact, he's just an external ally and not from Section 13. I hope you can help keep Robert's information confidential..." Jackie Chan said in a low voice.

"You trust me this much?" Steve looked at Jackie Chan in surprise.

"If I can't trust even you, then there aren't many people who can be trusted!" Jackie Chan smiled, softly speaking.

"Have you seen the dangers of the talisman? Do you still intend to keep it?" Robert and Diana approached, their fighting spirit subsiding, returning to their appearance before the fight. Robert asked Steve, acknowledging his combat skills as impressive, even better than Mrs. Gao's, though Steve's own strength was much weaker.

"And it's not just about these ugly monsters. There are enemies like shadows. I heard from Uncle Long that someone once kept a talisman and ended up having their house destroyed during a fight!" Xiaoyu chimed in, supporting Robert's words.

"Hmm, the talisman does seem troublesome. If I were younger, maybe I'd get involved, but I'm old now, ready to enjoy retirement..." Steve removed the Pig Talisman from his neck, shaking his head softly.

"People must accept aging; just fighting for a while has left me with a sore back and legs. But, handing over the talisman to you is fine, as long as you promise not to use it for evil. I know you won't, but I'm not so sure about Section 13 behind you..."

"Don't worry, Section 13 is very safe. They already have several talismans, and there haven't been any accidents!" Jackie Chan assured, unknowingly setting up Section 13 for potential issues. Perhaps the original Section 13 was indeed safe, but after repeated jinxing, even its iron walls might start leaking.

"Captain, let's exchange contact information? If you encounter any extraordinary events, you can reach out to us for help!" After receiving the Pig Talisman, Jackie Chan smiled at Steve.

"If some people knew about your actions, they might explode, but it doesn't matter; I like you guys!" Steve smiled, shaking his head, and exchanged contact information with Jackie Chan, "Feel free to visit my exhibitions; after all, being a painter is now my primary job..."
