The forest is in absolute silence, added to the original darkness of the night and the moon that barely makes it through the clouds, makes it look like a dangerous place.
Walking through the trees that spread twisted shadows, a disheveled young man follows a strange white shikigami. It was Asahiko, who wears ugly and crude clothes for his tastes, has twigs tangled in his hair, even cuts on his clothes.
"Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm! Umm, Umm, Umm!"
Despite the rather battered state she is in, a smile is plastered on Asahiko's face, so much is her excitement that she even mumbles a song.
After walking for a few more minutes, a tall tree appears in the field of vision. It has easily a height of 10 to 15 meters, leafy green branches, a thick trunk and in which there is an opening.
Christopher/Asahiko pov.
I have seen amazing scenes since I came here, just waving my hand and creating fire out of nothing, but what I have in front of me is beautiful. Now I understand a little of the obsession Inuyasha and Naraku have.
The soul snakes dance around, while the moon drops its light on Kikyo, making her look like a beautiful, melancholy sculpture, as she curls up against the hollow of the tree.
"Kikyo, Kikyo... If you don't open your eyes, I won't be able to hold back."
Kneeling in front of her and speaking softly, I notice how her eyelids flutter briefly, but fail to open. Maybe it was just a natural reaction, maybe she was conscious... But what's said is owed.
Feeling that my thoughts are the right ones, even though they most likely are not, i pushes aside her long black hair and reaches up to caress her right cheek.
The human warmth has completely disappeared, leaving an inhuman coldness on her skin. Nor can one feel traces of flexibility, color or an atmosphere close to humans. Kikyo currently looks like a beautiful doll.
"So this is the effect of losing your souls. You three, if I'm talking to you. Go collect those souls."
Pointing to a group of shikigami floating around, I look into their deep red eyes and give them a simple command. Where are you going to get them from? Obviously from the giant snake.
Answering myself, in my mind obviously, otherwise how weird would it be. With that out, a small vibration runs through the ground and in the distance a great rumble is heard, it was clear that the giant snake had finally fallen from the sky.
"What are you waiting for? Get going!"
Finishing petting Kikyo, I got up from the ground where I am kneeling, before directing a hard glare at the shikigami.
The surprise was great, seeing how not only three left, but more than half of them left. Noticing the strangeness of the matter, I turned around and easily knew why.
It was a trail, not a simple one, but a huge trail of souls rising towards the sky, just by looking I could count more than a thousand. The good thing is that now it will not lack souls, the bad thing is that any spiritual being will be attracted.
"Asahikoooo!"
"Well, it was obvious that they would be attracted. Though what luck for it to be just Inuyasha, fate perhaps..."
Considering if such a thing called fate exists, I give a quick glance at Kikyo, who is still at rest, right after my ears hear something interesting in the distance.
Clearly Inuyasha is heading this way, that stalker thing suits him quite well. On the other hand I can also hear strange noises, as if someone inexperienced is walking through the forest. Yes, Kagome is on her way too.
"If god gives you lemons, make lemonade. If fate gives you actors, make drama."
I'm very satisfied with my words, while ignoring that the manipulative fox thing I'm good at, what can I do, it's instincts that control me.
"Yes, yes, yes. How wicked the instincts are, they make me want to watch an intense love drama."
"You can just grab her and go."
"Saya... My friend..."
"I didn't say anything."
Watching as Saya quickly hides in the depths of Cloud Fang, I stopped spinning myself around, like a mental derangement, and then disappeared in the direction Kagome will come from.
Slowly time went by as I rested on a branch, the shikigamis delivered the souls to Kikyo, Inuyasha is still approaching and Kagome too, all the actors are here.
"I shouldn't have come, but there was no one waiting for me... I'm sure they must be around."
Muttering under her breath, while pushing away tree branches with her bow, Kagome moves until she is right underneath me. What was interesting was what came next, as her face went pale, she opened her brown eyes and ducked in an instant.
"Kikyo... What about Inuyasha?"
Ahhh... That uncertainty, a mixture of wanting to know what's going on and also not wanting it, with just a spark can evolve into despair in its purest form.
Swallowing saliva at my thoughts, in an instant I gave myself a sharp slap on my cheek, it was enough to knock me off the branch and make me fall unbeautifully to the ground.
"K...."
Before I can scream uncontrollably, one of my tails silences Kagome and spins her around to watch me closely. After she calms down and nods towards me, I slowly let go of my tail.
"What were you doing there, no more importantly...what happened to your eyes?"
"I would understand if you ask about my cheek, also why I watch the show, but my eyes...are you serious?"
There was a definite hint of confusion in Kagome's voice, but it was kind of obvious, who wouldn't be confused if someone suddenly crashes next to you.
Massaging my cheek that doesn't really hurt, but is still a little red, I get up from the ground and kneel down next to her to see what Inuyasha is doing.
"It's you that settles the first two questions. But your eyes, look at them... They're so spectacular."
"Kagome... I think you'd better stop looking at them. Seriously, stop looking at them."
Words don't seem to work on her, as her voice becomes more and more fanciful, causing me to find myself lying on the green grass in a few seconds and Kagome on top of me.
It was obvious that something weird is going on with Kagome, it must be the eyes, that's all she's been talking about. wait! She's not behaving just like someone enchanted, you understand, like she's under a love spell or something.
This was dangerous, not the situation itself, but what would come after that. Considering that, I blow Kagome's eyes so that she reflexively closes them, before quickly turning and dropping her underneath me.
*crack*
"Shit, no shit..."
Wanting to punch any being that controls luck, she mechanically lifted her head and just my eyes met four others. A couple of them were icy as a winter blizzard, while the other pair burst into flames.
"Everything has an absolutely logical and rational explanation, which will leave us all satisfied."
Make it not look awkward and it won't be, oh hell what an awkward thing to do... Well, what's the worst that can happen.
"Asahikooo!"
"Yes, a rabid dog!"
