"Oh, Asahiko, you're back. I thought you'd have to laugh for a while longer before you came back."
Waving his hand in Asahiko's incoming direction, Miroku speaks softly, while pointing at the people resting nearby with his finger.
"What are you saying? Obviously I am incapable of doing that...much...dema."
"¡Asahiko!"
"Inuyasha there are people sleeping" x2.
Both Miroku and Asahiko spoke at the same time, causing Inuyasha to be completely silenced and dark faced due to the level of synchronicity demonstrated by these two.
*crack* *crack* *crack* *crack*
The wood burning in the campfire slowly burns down, causing the fire to dwindle, though Miroku quickly throws other branches into the pile, preventing the fire from going out.
Christopher/Asahiko pov.
"Just a doubt, are the three of us going to stay awake and stand guard?"
"Since you're offering like this, I can't refuse. Good night."
"Miroku... Have some decency."
"A sound mind resides in a sound body. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure Asahiko won't do anything."
This is what it feels like when they have confidence in your person... Miroku you'll have the best night and you won't even have to bother with anything... What the hell.
"Get away from there or I'll wake her up."
"What a betrayal this is, I trusted you Asahiko."
"And I trusted you, until I remembered you're Miroku."
"Ha, bs. Well said."
Laughing with Inuyasha under our breath at that monk's situation, we stare at Miroku until he wanders away from Sango's direction and gets a place to sleep by the fire. Other than that funny little incident, the evening passed quietly and in a few moments an hour had easily passed.
"Ask if you're going to do it and make it quick, I don't want any detours in the conversation."
"How is Kikyo feeling?"
"Ouch, that must hurt."
"What does that mean?"
Is she an idiot or is it done? No, maybe it's because she's now in that human form and her senses are reduced to those of one who can't feel it. I'm talking about Kagome's minimal reaction, apparently the girl is awake and I hear her question from Inuyasha.
"Nothing, nothing Inuyasha. Now if we're talking about Kikyo, she's doing quite well, if we ignore the extreme little moments."
"Extreme?"
"Yes, yes, yes. One moment she's looking at me with absolute indifference and the next she looks ready to hit me with one of her arrows. There are also instances when she acts soft and then suddenly she becomes like a block of ice... It's certainly interesting."
I said little to nothing about Kikyo, so that Inuyasha wouldn't get too interested and then Kagome would ignore him as if he didn't exist. what a good friend I am! I hope this idiot appreciates it, wait because he clenches his fists.
"I'm warning you, even if you're in that human form, I'll beat you up if you throw yourself at me."
"Tsh"
"Race equality, boy."
Enjoying Inuyasha's helplessness, I throw some branches into the campfire and make the fire grow in size, before asking my good albino companion a question.
"Are you going to stay awake as well? I'm just asking, but I don't mind standing guard by myself."
"No."
"Umm?"
"Nnnnnnnn"
Before I could shout whatever I whispered earlier, I silenced him with one of my tails and pointed at the sleeping boys nearby. Noticing that he had already calmed down, I withdrew my tail and waved my hands at him to keep talking.
"N. Me. I've never been able to fall asleep these days... What do I tell you, you'd never understand."
"Since you've opened up to me, I won't hit you for saying those words. Moving on, this has to be one of the big drawbacks of being a Hanyō... So your wish is not to be a full demon, but to get rid of your human part?"
Striking my left palm with a fist formed by my right hand, I look towards Inuyasha with eyes that send shivers down his spine, I'm literally watching him tremble.
"Who cares about that... In the end it's all the same."
"Certainly dear Inuyasha, but it's given for a completely different matter... Maybe it's because you associate your human side with weakness, maybe you don't want to remember old times, or"
"¡Asahiko!"
"I'm sorry... There are just times when I can't control myself."
What an awkward time for this to happen, just now I have to want to dig into other people's thoughts and in front of Inuyasha who seems to have a complex past.
"Never mind."
"Are you nicer this way or is it just me?"
"You know what, just die... But since you started it yourself, what do you want the pearl for?"
Profound question the one you just posed, sure if I wasn't a person who just collects the fragments for fun. But I can't answer that, where would the fun be there and I seem to have the right answer.
"Since you have opened up to me, how could I not open up to you. Obviously my wish for the pearl is for Kikyo to be human again and for us to live happily ever after."
*crack*
The truth is I don't know if the source of the noise was Inuyasha's teeth rubbing together, Kagome who no longer disguises that she's awake in the slightest, Miroku who clearly turned halfway to this side or just me trying to hide my laughter.
"You're... You're... You're... You're kidding, right?"
"Of course I am."
My neutral words cut through the tension that had built up in the surroundings, I even thought I heard someone's sigh and I think I know whose it was.
"You're a"
"Quiet Inuyasha can you feel it Miroku, Sango?"
Stopping Inuyasha who was most likely going to complain about my tasteless joke, I address a few words to two of the three who like to eavesdrop and get up from my spot.
"It's a huge amount of negative energy."
"It's coming from over there, your excellency."
Following my gaze to where Sango's hand is pointing, I notice how in the distance the sky has become cloudy due to the amount of negative energy. It was something truly strong to achieve that effect, something on the level of Naraku's demons or close.
"They were always up!"
"We have to go find the source, your excellency, we can't let it go!"
"¡Don't ignore me!"
Giving a "Poor guy" look to Inuyasha and a knowing one to Miroku, we quickly broke camp, then went to investigate the situation going on.
