Chapter 106 - Whispers of Power

Professor Thalassa stood at the front of the classroom, her chalk tapping rhythmically on the board as she lectured about Magi shards. Elian sat at his desk, his attention focused on her words despite the turmoil within him.

"Magi shards," Professor Thalassa began, her voice echoing in the room, "are ancient artifacts infused with potent magical energy. They are scattered across the realms, hidden in the most remote locations." She said as she wrote on the chalk board.

Elian wrote quickly, his mind drifting to the possibilities these shards held. He imagined wielding their power, overcoming any obstacle in his path.

Elian's thoughts raced as he considered the implications. With a Magi shard in his possession, he could become stronger, more formidable than ever before.

"As aspiring magicians," Professor Thalassa said, her gaze sweeping across the classroom, "it is essential to understand the significance of Magi shards and the responsibility that comes with harnessing their power."

Elian nodded, his determination solidifying. He would seek out these shards, unlock their secrets, and become a force to be reckoned with in the magical world.

Professor Thalassa stood at the front of the class, her chalk moving swiftly across the blackboard as she explained the intricacies of Magi shards. The students listened intently, jotting down notes as she spoke.

Elian sat among his classmates, his attention focused on Thalassa's words. The idea of possessing such power intrigued him, especially considering the recent challenges he had faced.

"As rare as they are, Magi shards can be found in different parts of the world," Thalassa continued. "Some are hidden deep within ancient ruins, while others may be discovered in natural formations or guarded by powerful creatures."

Elian's mind raced with possibilities. He imagined himself wielding the abilities granted by these shards, envisioning how they could aid him in his journey.

"The abilities they grant are as diverse as the shards themselves," Thalassa added. "From elemental manipulation to enhanced physical attributes, the possibilities are endless."

As the lesson concluded, Elian felt a newfound determination. He made a mental note to explore the possibility of acquiring a Magi shard, knowing that it could be the key to unlocking his full potential.

Professor Thalassa paused, her gaze sweeping across the room as she held their attention. "And finally, there is one more type of Magi Shard, a rare hybrid between black and white, reminiscent of the balance between yin and yang. These shards possess unknown powers, they are like uncharted territories waiting to be explored." Her voice carried a hint of intrigue, leaving the students in anticipation of the mysteries yet to be unveiled.

As the class came to an end, Elian gathered his belongings, his mind still swirling with thoughts of Magi shards and their untapped potential. With a sense of anticipation, he reached into his bag and withdrew a small pouch, carefully concealed within its depths.

Within the pouch rested Elian's own Magi Shard, a precious artifact that he had inherited from the beast be slayed in Eristia all those years ago. Its surface shimmered with a faint, red, ethereal glow, hinting at the latent power contained within.

With a reverent touch, Elian traced the intricate patterns etched into the surface of the shard. It was a constant reminder of his heritage, a tangible link to the magical lineage that coursed through his veins.

Lost in contemplation, Elian barely noticed as Res approached, a curious expression on her face. "Hey, Elian, what's got you so deep in thought?" she asked, her voice breaking through his reverie.

Startled from his musings, Elian glanced up, a faint smile gracing his lips. "Oh, hey Res," he replied, slipping the Magi Shard back into his bag. "I was just thinking about what Professor Thalassa said about Magi shards. It's fascinating stuff, isn't it?"

Res nodded, her eyes alight with curiosity. "Definitely. The idea of wielding that kind of power... it's both exhilarating and daunting."

Elian nodded in agreement, a sense of determination flickering in his gaze. "Yeah, but I think it's worth exploring. Who knows what we might discover?"

With a shared sense of excitement, Elian and Res made their way to the cafeteria for lunch. The aroma of freshly prepared food greeted them as they entered, mingling with the lively chatter of their fellow students.

As they found a table and settled in, Elian couldn't shake the feeling of anticipation that lingered within him. The thought of embarking on a quest to uncover the secrets of Magi shards filled him with a sense of purpose, and he knew that he wouldn't rest until he had unlocked their full potential.

With Res by his side, Elian felt ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. Together, they would explore the mysteries of the magical world, one shard at a time.

As Elian's friends gathered around the table, he couldn't help but feel a sense of detachment, his usual warmth replaced by a cold, distant demeanor. Despite their lively chatter and camaraderie, Elian remained withdrawn, his thoughts consumed by the memories that haunted him.

Drake, sensing the shift in Elian's mood, exchanged a concerned glance with Res. "Hey, Elian, you seem kinda... off today," Drake remarked, his voice tinged with unease.

Elian's response was terse, his words clipped as he struggled to mask the turmoil within. "Just tired," he muttered, his gaze fixed on the tabletop.

Kyke, ever perceptive, arched an eyebrow in suspicion. "Tired, or something else bothering you?" he pressed, his barrier mage instincts kicking in as he sought to uncover the truth behind Elian's stoic facade.

Hera, sensing the tension in the air, reached out a hand in a gesture of comfort. "You know you can talk to us, right?" she offered, her voice gentle yet insistent.

Marco, ever the optimist, attempted to lighten the mood with a playful quip. "Come on, Elian, don't be such a downer. We're here to cheer you up, remember?"

But despite his friends' best efforts, Elian remained closed off, his walls impenetrable as he grappled with the demons that plagued his mind. The weight of his past experiences bore down on him, suffocating him in a suffocating embrace of darkness.

As the conversation continued around him, Elian withdrew further into himself, his mask of indifference slipping further with each passing moment. His friends exchanged worried glances, unsure of how to reach him amidst the storm raging within.

And so, the lunchtime gathering that had begun with such promise ended on a somber note, Elian's struggles casting a shadow over the camaraderie that usually defined their interactions. As they parted ways, his friends vowed to stand by him, knowing that healing from the scars of the past would be a journey fraught with challenges, but one they were determined to undertake together.
