"...She's dead." answered Zenyph solemnly.
Saphirella stared at him dumbfounded. "Dead? But I just saw her here. She can't be."
"She sacrificed herself for you." said Zenyph as he gently placed his hand on her shoulder.
Saphirella's heart sank. Neri was like a little sister to her along with Yuni. She was always there for her and never disappointed her. She felt sad and empty and grateful and angry all at the same time.
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she hugged Zenyph tightly. Her sobs echoed through the eerie silence in a once bustling city.
Zenyph hated seeing her like this. He could've used less mana and Neri would probably still be alive but he didn't. It's better for Neri to die here as a hero than to be killed by him later on. Saphirella would probably try to convince him to bring Neri back with them but that was a risk he couldn't afford to take.
