"You heartless bastard!" yelled Katyana as she tried to cast magic but was stopped by Cristina
"Stop, there's nothing we can do to them. Even if they murdered those girls. We need to remain calm." explained the Elf calmly
Katyana wanted to argue but she knew Cristina was right. So she relented, for now.
But that didn't stop the rage boiling within her. She couldn't stand Zenyph, or Lynette for that matter. And Asura... Asura was a whole other story. That girl was the absolute worst. Zenyph, she could somewhat understand. He was a royal, so he felt entitled to everything. He saw himself above everyone else, which made him arrogant and cocky. As for Lynette, she has to follow her master's order. But Asura is a royal too, she can stand up to him. She just chose not to, maybe she even loves him? Fuck. She just wants to get revenge for Alice.
"Katyana tell you what," spoke Zenyph as he started grinning.
"You think what I did was unacceptable right?" asked Zenyph as he slowly moved closer to the purple-eyed human.
She was getting increasingly annoyed at Zenyph, especially his arrogant and self-confident attitude towards her. She nodded, determined to prove she wasn't intimidated by him.
Zenyph's grin grew even wider. He used his blue mana to create an intricately designed mana dagger capable of cutting through his skin. He took the dagger and slit his wrist, to show that it can actually cut him. Licking his wound clean he looked Katyana in the eyes.
"Why don't you kill me then?" said Zenyph as he held the dagger in front of Katyana.
Asura, Lynette, and everyone else were completely confused. Why would Zenyph kill Audrey and Alice, then hand over his life so easily. He had to have a motive. He must be trying to lure her in, maybe he would attack her after she accepts. He must have a trick up his sleeve.
Cristina felt uneasy. Although she had no sympathy for the boy, something about Zenyph's proposal didn't sit well with her.
"What kind of trick is this?" asked Katyana cautiously, trying hard not to show her eagerness to end his life.
Zenyph simply smiled slyly. "No tricks. Just pure logic. Either kill me or let me be." said Zenyph with a confident smirk.
"I'll even hold it close to my neck. All you have to do is push it through," said Zenyph as he forcefully grabbed Katyana's right hand and put the dagger to his neck.
"Wait, are you serious? Are you really going to let me kill you?" questioned Katyana incredulously.
"Absolutely," confirmed Zenyph as he kept eye contact with her.
The silence hung in the air thickly. Everyone watched intently, wondering how this situation would unfold. Some hoped Katyana would do it, others feared she wouldn't. The pressure became unbearable for most. Some found themselves trembling slightly, others breathing heavily, some sweating profusely, others unable to move at all. The tension in the classroom had risen drastically, creating an intense atmosphere.
"But if I kill you, your father will kill me," said Katyana suddenly as she recalled that he was royalty, and even if she succeeded there would be major repercussions for killing him.
Zenyph grinned widely, amused at her words. "My father still has three other sons to inherit the throne, at most you'll get sanctions." answered Zenyph as he slowly stepped forward causing the dagger to make a shallow incision.
Asura was terrified, she wanted to interfere, but she still had hope that Zenyph knew what he was doing. Of course, this didn't stop her from readying her magic. The thought of Zenyph dying was incomprehensible, yet she somehow found herself rooted in place, unable to act. She forced herself to stay calm, fighting off the panic threatening to overcome her mind.
Lynette, on the other hand, was smiling cheerfully. Her smile, however, lacked warmth. It seemed almost cold. Her eyes gleamed dangerously, and she seemed ready to pounce. If Zenyph died, then she would kill everyone here and kill herself.
Zenyph stared intently at the girl, daring her to act. Her expression reflected confusion and hesitation. However, as much as she desired vengeance for Alice, she ultimately refused to take his life.
She swiped the dagger into his neck, not deep enough to kill him. She just wanted him to hurt as she was hurting. She looked at the prince, waiting for a response.
He remained silent. His expression betrayed nothing, not pain, anger, fear, regret, nor satisfaction. His eyes bore into hers.
She stood frozen. She didn't expect Zenyph to not react. Shouldn't he be screaming in pain?
He chuckled lightly, "I must say you are an interesting woman." said Zenyph as he covered his wounds in water magic and healed them.
"Who else is thinking of trying to kill me, I'll let you take a free shot and I won't retaliate." asked Zenyph, addressing the entire classroom.
Everyone was afraid of answering, Zenyph had demonstrated that he was willing to let them kill him. He's obviously crazy in some way.
"Great, no volunteers. So I assume we will all be working as a class from now on? That means if the other classes come for my bounty, we will all fight together right? "
They all gave him nods of approval, agreeing with the statement. It would benefit their survival if they stuck together. Plus, no one was willing to risk angering Zenyph. If he wasn't so damn unstable, they might even try to befriend him. They were all so occupied with the thought of Abyssal that they forgot Zenyph was still the son of Notos Drakonhart. He's bound to be a monster.
Zenyph just scoffed and started to walk back to his seat where Lynette and Asura were waiting for him. Not even trying to hide their anger at him. All he did was smile at them and then looked outside the window. Outside of his class, he could see the building where second-years held their classes which was mainly on the second floor as opposed to the first floor. Asura would have probably picked up the other person looking at Zenyph, if she wasn't clouded by her emotions. Zenyph had to suppress his laughter at seeing his little sister Norena. She was intensely glaring at him, and only him. He wasn't aware of how much self-restrained Norena had to use to not immediately kill both Katyana and Cristina. But the crushed head that she was holding in her hand, calmed her down. An unlucky student that wanted to ask Norena a question about their homework.
'Adorable.' Thought Zenyph as he took his seat ignoring the two angry ladies glaring at him.
"Well, that was surely entertaining." Remarked the professor. "I believe it's time to tell you about the end-of-the-month tournament."
