Chapter 35 - Alice? (2)

Zenyph, Alice and Asura reappeared inside the dorm room.

Lynette Shadowthrons, Zenyph's personal maid, ran towards the dragon prince.

Her ruby-red eyes were glimmering brightly.

"Master!" squealed Lynette excitedly throwing herself at him.

The half angel hugged Zenyph tightly, squeezing him lovingly.

"Gah, hey Lynette." wheezed Zenyph.

"How was it!? Did you have fun? Was it dangerous?"

"Fun would definitely describe the forest." joked Zenyph sarcastically.

Lynette loosened her grasp allowing him to breathe properly.

"Are you alright master? Are you hurt anywhere?" worried the obsidian haired maiden.

"I'm fine. Nothing a quick bath can't fix."

"Allow me to assist you."

"Later. First I wanna change clothes and unwind. The forest was exhausting Lynette." groaned Zenyph.

Alice's face heated up while Asura's ear twitched in irritation.

"Understood master." replied Lynette obediently.

Lynette let go of her hold and retreated behind her master.

"Where Audrey?" asked Zenyph curiously, noticing the absence of the Elven beauty.

"Ms.Elvira went out."

"Out? Where?"

"To the library. She felt that her performance was lacking during the event. Ms.Elvira wished to study further."

"Audrey should've relaxed. The only thing that mattered is that we survived." grumbled Zenyph.

"That woman didn't strike me as much of a learner." remarked Asura.

"Oh well I'm gonna freshen up a bit." informed Zenyph.

Lynette followed him, however, Asura and Alice remained inside the dorm room.

"Your boyfriend better shower. He's filthy." sneered Asura.

"Pffft. He's not my b-boyfriend." stuttered Alice.

"Really? Could've fooled me. You clung to him the whole time."

"We talked a lot okay? That doesn't mean I l-like him."

"He's technically my husband, you know? Bonded, remember?"

"I-I know." answered Alice with a sad tone in her voice.

"Whatever. Just clean yourself up."

Alice nodded and headed to her bedroom. Asura went to her own room as well.

Meanwhile, Zenyph stripped naked entering his luxurious bathroom.

Lynette walked inside carrying a towel.

"Need any help master?" offered Lynette innocently.

"It's just a quick shower this time Lynette. No need."

"Ok master, but please call for me if needed. It's my duty to serve you."

"Of course Lynette."

"Then allow me to prepare a relaxing bath later. You seem quite tense." suggested Lynette.

"Sure. I'd love that."

"Then please take care."

Zenyph entered the glass stall closing the curtain separating him and the half-angel.

He turned on the hot water allowing steam to fill the room. Zenyph stood underneath the spray closing his eyes enjoying the warmth.

His muscles loosened up. The dirt and grime washed away leaving him refreshed. Steam fogged up the walls.

The dragon prince washed his body thoroughly. After finishing, Zenyph dried himself dry stepping out.

"Here's a fresh pair of clothes, master."

"Thanks."

Zenyph dressed quickly. Once clothed, the silver-haired prince exited the bathroom heading towards the living area.

"Did Audrey return yet Lynette?" inquired Zenyph.

"Nope, not yet," replied as she slouched further on the couch. Relief could be seen etched onto her face as she stopped talking politely. She waved her hands causing the magic tv to turn on. The default channel was a news station with an angel and vampire duo that had their wings out. They were flying over what seemed to be a giant city.

"This is Thalia from Enchanted Insights with Alistrair from the vampire division. We're currently

flying over the elven capital Thorneon."

"Indeed Thalia. What usually is a beautiful sight to behold, today a terrible tragedy has struck the elven kingdom and the entire capital. As you can see in the distance a massive Abyssal vortex has opened. Thousands of Abyssal monsters are pouring out as if they're organizing an army."

"Alisterair, does this have any implications towards the elves themselves?"

"Thalia, This is without a doubt a disaster for the elves. These creatures are extremely hostile and powerful. The elves are already preparing their best warriors alongside several churches, the angels, and the dwarfs. However, a full scale invasion is not their only concern."

"Could you elaborate, Alistrair? Has there been reports of the Abyssal Monsters attacking the civilians?"

"No but her highness Elara Everglen has sent out all the members of the Silverleaf order. There must be purple named Abyssals in those hordes, possibly a half step demonic or seraphic. This is unprecedented. All these Abyssals could mean a calamity to the Elves and the empire."

"Wow, that's truly frightening," Alistrair thought. How could we viewers help?"

"Well Thalia, prayers, aid, and hope would help the Elves immensely. The Silverleaf Order and the Royal military will take the lead, but casualties will happen regardless. However, all the races will have to work together and unite."

"Thank you Alistrair, for that shocking insight. I am sure everyone is praying alongside me right now for the elves to survive and thrive."

"Yes indeed. Thank you Thalia and viewers. This has been Thalia and Alistrair signing off."

Lynette switched the channel off.

Everyone was stunned speechless. Zenyph couldn't believe his eyes. An abyssal rift appearing was rare, a horde led by a purple name was catastrophic, and a half step seraph or demonic was an apocalyptic scenario. Having the talent to reach pink ranks already puts you in the 1%, purple puts you in the 0.1% and having Seraphic or Demonic means you're a monster in your own right. There's only seven confirmed Seraphic/Demonic ranked beings, well eight if you include Luciana.

"Holy shit."

"We just fought an Abyssal back on that planet and now a Abyssal horde is invading the Elves." exclaimed Zenyph.

"It's not our problem though. I have no interest in saving the elves. Especially since they are prejudiced against vampires." scoffed Asura.

"But people will die, Asura. The Silverleaf Order was called out. That's serious." rebuked Alice.

"Good, they can die for all I care. They're discriminatory pigs."

"Enough Asura. You have to root for the elves. You do know we're next if they fall. The Abyssals are ruthless." intervened Zenyph.

"Your father will step in if it gets dire." stated Asura confidently.

"My father is not omnipotent." retorted Zenyph after he remembered the unlucky fact that his father was deathly ill back at the palace

"A husband should agree with his wife no? Plus the Elves can handle themselves Zenyph. Have faith in the Everglens."

"Huh?" Lynette was taken aback by Asura's comment.

"Wife? Husband? When did that happen."

"Oh yeah, Zenyph and I are bonded. He's married to me." explained Asura nonchalantly.

Lynettes face paled. Her ruby red eyes lost their brightness.

"B-bonded?" mumbled Lynette sadly.

"Yup."

"Congratulatons, your highness Zenyph Drakonhart." congratulated Lynette forcing a smile.

"Lynette we only bonded because we ran out of options. Don't take it seriously. We're not actually married.

" Master, you shouldn't joke about things like this. A vampire's bond is forever. Forever." lectured Lynette.

"Forever?" Zenyph echoed.

"Correct, there's no divorce, no separation, no cheating, and no annulment. Marriage is for life."

"Shit Asura. What the hell were you thinking?" shouted Zenyph.

"Hey, how is it suddenly my fault? Your life was on the line. I saved you. End of story." argued Asura.

"By marrying me."

"And? Unless you secretly despise me, it's a non issue."

"Non Issue? I've barely known you for a few days and now I'm permanently chained to you."

"Look Zenyph. Take a deep breath and relax. You're getting worked up." advised Alice.

"Worked up? I'm too young to get married. I have goals, dreams, ambitions. Things I wanna do, people I wanna meet. Relationships complicate things." complained Zenyph.

"Again. We're bonded not married." corrected Asura.

"Shall I kill her Zenyph? Would that solve the marriage predicament master? A war with the bloodthornes is but a small price to play" offered Lynette with the sweetest smile on her.

"Wha-" Asura's body froze.

"Ha, funny Lynette, very funny. No murder today ok?" chuckled Zenyph nervously.

"A shame. Very well." pouted Lynette.

"Alice back me up." Zenyph turned to the human beseeching her for assistance.

"U-u-um" Alice avoided eye contact, while fidgeting and biting her lower lips.

"Traitor," growled Zenyph.

"Sorry." timid Ravennette apologized.

"Whatever, I'm going to find Noleria. See ya."

"Do you need assistance master?" inquired Lynette.

" Nah, i'll be fine." declined Zenyph.

Lynette puffed her cheeks.

"I'll watch over the children. Stay safe Zenyph." said Lynette.

"Children? Children. Excuse me." Asuras' eyebrows twitched irritably.

"I'm twenty two and Alice is nineteen."

"Exactly. Such youthful naive immature little children."

"Humph," huffed Asura indignantly.

"I'm going for a walk, I'd rather not spend my free time with a disgrace to the Royal vampires.

"Disgrace? Oh~, is someone sensitive." teased the obsidian haired maid.

"Sensitive. I'll show you, you sensitive bitch."

Asura prepared to lunge forward aiming straight for the throat of the half-angel but she was stopped by a water tentacle that dragged her out of the dorm room.

Alice sighed, relieved that a conflict was prevented.

"Now, who wants a nice warm cup of tea?"

Lynette smiled warmly at the human girl.

"Green Tea." requested Alice shyly.

"Gotcha."

"Uh-um Lynette can we talk?" Alice played with her fingers nervously.

"About?"

"Zenyph and Asura and you..."
