The tension in the class room increased as each student realized what kind of situation they would be in.
"What the fuck is this?" growled Asura angrily as she glared daggers at the professor.
The professor simply laughed at her reaction. He was enjoying their reactions. "Miss Bloodthorne calm down. It isn't necessary to kill these creatures. Just stay alive and come back to the academy. You can also run if you wish." taunted the professor.
Alice gulped audibly. "Will we be getting equipment or items for this event?"
"No." replied the professor bluntly before adding," If any students die or suffer injuries during this exercise. I will be sure to personally inform the families. Oh that reminds me we're already down a student aren't we?" said Professor Gareth as he scratched his chin and looked around the class.
"Ah yes Leon from House Leofard and his two lackeys. What a coincidence that three students from a rival family of Drakonhart died on the first day." said the professor with an evil smirk plastered on his face.
"Are you suggesting that Master did something to the students?" asked Lynette with a hint of anger in her tone. She was ready to attack the professor if needed.
Zenyph placed his hand on Lynette's shoulder stopping her from attacking the old man. "It's alright."
"I see the rumors about the little maid are true. Well whatever happened I'm glad to have gotten rid of those idiots. Their house has been annoying me for years now. So class Alpha now has 540 points and sits at fourth place in the class ranking." announced Gareth.
Zenyph frowned. He didn't appreciate the fact that his actions were being linked to the incident involving Leon. It made him look suspicious and guilty.
"Alas now that class Alpha has less than 600 points you won't be allowed to use the first year training facility until you regain the lost points. You can try your luck in the second or third years training facility or in the Nightborn forest if you're feeling confident. Now class dismissed."
With that everyone stood up from their seats and walked out of the classroom.
Zenyph sighed heavily. Things weren't going according to plan. Not in the least bit.
"Let's go Lynette. We need to train and find a way to get stronger. I refuse to lose points for this event." muttered Zenyph under his breathe.
"Yes my prince." replied Lynette obediently.
The duo left the room leaving the trio alone.
"That asshole!" yelled out Asura angrily punching the wall next to her.
Audrey flinched slightly at this. She knew Asura had anger issues but this was different compared to the previous times she witnessed her lash out.
"Are you okay?" inquired Audrey placing her palm on the angry girl's shoulders.
Asura turned around to face her friend before responding," I'm sorry Audrey." whispered Asura apologetically.
This surprised Audrey who never once saw Asura apologize to her. "It's fine Asura. You don't need to worry about anything. Just focus on the event." reassured Audrey with a small smile. "Besides you're the best person to watch over him."
Asura scoffed at this. "As if I'd protect him, Alice on the other hand sure." said Asura while she smiled at Alice who was playing with her hands nervously." I'm going back to my room. See you tomorrow." said Asura as she walked towards the door leaving behind her friends.
Alice stared at Asura's back with concern evident on her face. "Is she going to be alright by herself? She seemed rather upset earlier." questioned Alice.
Audrey nodded her head.
After Zenyph and Lynette walked around the campus grounds on the middle floating island that housed most of the academic buildings and facilities such as the cafeteria. They eventually ended up near the outskirts of campus.
They found themselves walking towards a large stone archway.
As Zenyph got closer to the archway his eyes widened in disbelief as he took in the scenery before him. The archway was located atop a hill overlooking a vast ocean of trees. A sea of lush vegetation spread across the horizon.
He could feel magic radiating from every direction. It was intoxicating.
Zenyph took a deep breath inhaling the fresh air surrounding him.
A gentle breeze blew past his ear making him shiver.
Lynette looked at the scene in awe. She had never seen such beauty before.
"Wow." exclaimed Lynette with excitement written all over her face.
He turned towards her and smiled warmly at his companion. "I know right? Isn't beautiful?"
The young woman nodded enthusiastically.
"This is a portal connected to the archway right? Where does it lead?" asked Zenyph as he checked his student pocketbook. The book had a description of the portal and its location as well as the rules regarding using them.
The rules stated that students must obtain permission from their homeroom teacher before entering the portal to another world.
Zenyph was hesitant since Professor Gareth was obviously a sadist and he doubted the guy would allow anyone to leave without a fight or two first.
He shook his thoughts.
"We need to find more information on this portal before using it. This academy already showed it didn't care if students dies in the event. I doubt they care if we die outside of it."
Lynette agreed with Zenyph and together they headed towards the library located on the main island.
Upon reaching the library which was located at the center of the floating island Zenyph and Lynette entered the building and headed towards the section labeled 'Portals and Teleportation.'
The section had several books covering various topics including portals and transportation magic.
Zenyph picked up two books titled 'Portals: A Guide' and 'Theories Behind Portal Creation.' He scanned the first book quickly.
"This seems interesting." mumbled Lynette as she skims through the pages.
Zenyph smiled slightly. He always enjoyed reading back when he was in high school. He loved to learn new concepts and ideas. But this world was different. One wrong move can mean death for him.
Zenypth opened the second book and skimmed through the pages.
"Hmm interesting." mused Zenyph as he continued studying the book.
He flipped open the page detailing about the creation process.
"To create a stable teleportation circle you need to draw a pentagram in the ground with your magic power." read Zenyph aloud.
He looked up and noticed the confused expression of Lynette who was listening intently. "A five point star." clarified Zenyph. "Then once you're done drawing it. You need to channel your magic inside the star. You need at least blue mana power and intermediate knowledge on space type." Zenyph immediately closed the book. "So this is useless to me right now." sighed Zenyph
"I'm only at Yellow mana power, I practically only managed to cast a few unstable waterballs. I have a long ways to go."
Zenyph then looked through the rest of the books and came to the conclusion that there wasn't anything else useful to learn about the portal.
"I guess that's that. Lynette what mana power was the bare minimum to fight a nameless Abyssal again? asked Zenyph
"I believe it was blue mana power to be able to damage them at the least. Theoretically the second years and prodigies like Asura can fight nameless Abyssal but you also need to have intermediate knowledge in any attack magic type." replied Lynette
"Aren't you also at blue mana? How come you can't fight a nameless? asked Zenyph
"My fangs Zenyph." answer Lynette with a sad look on her face. "I have uneven fangs it's a birth defect that makes it harder for me to cast offensive blood magic. It hurt a lot when I used it on you back at the palace. I was barely able to hold the shapes of chains for that long. My fangs will grow overtime though so there is still a chance to improve. For now I'm just going to stick close to master and keep you safe. That should count as protecting you too." answered Lynnette.
She smiled sheepishly while fiddling with strands of her hair
Zenyph patted his companion's head. "You really are something."
"Master..." whispered Lynette bashfully. Her cheeks reddening at the compliment.
Zenyph chuckled softly.
"And here I thought putting a bounty on your head would make you hide under a rock." said an unforgettable feminine voice from above.
