Chapter 47 - Mind Games and Malevolent Intentions

"Umm excuse me? Isn't he the first son of Lycanthor Nocturne? I'm pretty sure he's going to surpass his father soon." questioned Zenyph, dreading the answer. Ragnar is close to reaching Seraphic rank. The same rank as Luciana.

"So? He's weak compared to you. He doesn't have the same talent as you." Serene teased, clearly enjoying watching Zenyph squirm uncomfortably. He looked adorable to her.

"Well, umm yeah if I have enough time to train. But..." Zenyph trailed off, not wanting to argue with this beautiful monster anymore.

Serene noticed this and laughed joyfully. Her melodic laughter echoed throughout the room, reverberating throughout the space around them. Zenyph couldn't help but chuckle, finding himself oddly relaxed despite the stressful situation.

After several seconds of continuous laughter, Serene stopped abruptly. She stared intently at Zenyph, staring straight into his eyes. She scrutinized every aspect of his appearance, focusing her senses to take in every detail about his appearance. A final attempt at reading his mind.

"Weird...Your aura is really strange. I've never felt anything like this before. But yes you have a year to reach Seraphic otherwise Asura will be marrying Ragnar." Said Serene, as she scanned Zenyph's body trying to find anything weird. She even tried to pierce through his mind barrier but it wouldn't budge. This man was really something else.

Zenyph grinned, pleased at this new challenge. A year to reach the highest peak. And not to mention kill someone who even dared to covet what was his. Planning on starting a war did get his blood pumping, it was probably his dragon-blood amplifying the feelings he had when he decided to join the army. Of course, he didn't have as much of a blood-lust as he did now seeing as he never killed anyone back on earth.

He let his mind wander, contemplating just how many enemies he might face. How many opponents he'd encounter along the way. As his thoughts swirled around inside his head, his eyes fell upon Asura, who was still blushing lightly, staring lovingly at him. Seeing her expression, Zenyph couldn't stop himself from grinning broadly at the sight. He leaned over and wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her close to his body. He kissed her cherry lips, feeling her heart rate accelerate dramatically, pounding rapidly against his chest.

He finally recognized the feeling he had when they first met. Mutual obsession. Something that was frowned upon back on earth. His ex, Lillian, was obsessed with control while Zenyph was obsessed with Lillian. But things took a turn for the worse, they got into a fight and broke up. Only for her to 'commit suicide' and blame him for everything. The trauma stayed with him after. Even till this day, the insecurity of having his woman leave him, his mental state was constantly at odds. Yet here Asura was, staying loyal to the soul of Zenyph even after the prince treated her coldly. Zenyph was really going to keep her for himself.

A few minutes later, Serene teleported Zenyph out of her office. She let out a breath she didn't even realize she held. It was rare to find someone immune to her aura but Zenyph proved her wrong. There was a mystery surrounding him but she was in no hurry to find out just yet. Zenyph on the other hand was pretty exhausted after talking with her for so long.

Talking to someone who could read minds is not something he'd like to do often.

Zenyph decided to head to the library to learn more about mind magic. Unaware of the encounter that's happening between Lynette and Norena.

A short blonde-haired woman was talking to a raven-haired vampire with crimson eyes. They were standing at a familiar place, the training ground that belonged to the second years.

"Norena? What are you doing here? Actually, why am I here? I was heading to the general concierge." asked Lynette as she looked around suspiciously.

"I just used a little magic to lure you here," said Norena as she held a pink-colored ball in her palms.

"Mind magic huh? I suppose that's expected of the daughter of Notos," praised Lynette as she stood opposite from the princess, her posture rigid and defensive.

"Indeed. Well, what do you think about our Zenyph?" questioned Norena casually, her tone casual but her face betraying her true intentions.

Lynette paused for a moment, thinking carefully before she spoke again. She didn't want to offend the princess. Even though they weren't necessarily friends, they did share common ground in their loyalty towards Zenyph.

"I think he's incredibly talented, but there's also a lot he doesn't know about. He's a bit reckless at times, but overall, he's reliable." Replied Lynette, trying to stay as diplomatic as possible.

Norena raised an eyebrow curiously, "Reckless you say? Well, that stunt he pulled today in class certainly was reckless. Though, I can't say I'm disappointed by the result."

Lynette smirked proudly, "It wasn't reckless, it was calculated. You just don't know Zenyph like I do."

The two women continued to stare at each other silently for several long moments, neither backing down from the other. Finally, Lynette spoke up.

"You're wasting my time, Norena. So, why did you really summon me here?" She demanded irritably, her annoyance growing rapidly.

"Well, it's simple really. Cristina and Katyana, they insulted Zenyph in class. That's unforgivable. So, I brought you here to help me teach them a lesson." explained Norena, sounding nonchalant and unconcerned by Lynette's attitude.

"They're still our classmates and we still have to win Frostfire, it's better if we play nice, just like Zenyph has done," countered Lynette, a frown appearing on her face. She didn't want to get involved in this mess.

"I must say I'm disappointed in you Lynette. After seeing you kill Alice so cold-heartily, because you thought there was a tiny chance that she could take Zenyph away from you, I thought you'd be up for anything. So, come on, do it for Zenyph." Concluded Norena as she released another pink ball, teleporting two girls in front of her.

The two students froze, their eyes widening in horror as they realized who they were up against. Lynette scowled at Norena, hating the way she manipulated people to get her way. But she couldn't deny her excitement at the thought of torturing her enemies. Her sadistic tendencies and thirst for vengeance overwhelmed her rationality.

"I didn't know you could teleport, Princess Norena?" accused Cristina as she struggled to break free of the bindings holding her back. She wasn't weak, but she was clearly outmatched.

"There's a lot you don't know about me, Cristina. But enough of this nonsense, let's begin the torture!"

"What are you going to do to us, Princess Norena? You can't just attack us like this." Interjected Katyana, her voice shaking with fear. She looked to Lynette for help, hoping that she'd intervene on their behalf.

Lynette hesitated a little, before eventually agreeing with Norena. "Yes, let's get started."

"Thank you, Lynette," said Norena happily, her lips curving upward into a small smile. She stepped closer to Cristina, her face inches from the girl's nose. She licked her lips in anticipation.

Lynette followed suit, moving to stand beside the princess, staring blankly into the terrified eyes of Katyana. The pair stood silently, waiting patiently for the inevitable to happen.

And so, it did.

With a snap of Norena's fingers, the world around them seemed to fade into a dull blur. Everything except the women disappeared entirely. In its place, an ethereal space replaced it, a vast expanse of white stretching into infinity in all directions.

It felt odd to Lynette. She knew this wasn't real, yet somehow it felt as if she was somewhere far away from everything else.

"This is Cristina's mind space." said Norena, her voice echoing strangely.
