In front of a doughnut shop named Randy's, she saw these familiar faces.
"The toxicity from Stark's poisoning is getting worse. Do you have any way to mitigate it?" Black Widow, back in her S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform, was discussing with several agents from the science division.
Seeing Daisy approaching, she quickly waved her over, signaling that she needed help. Several agents who had been sweating profusely, also turned their attention to her.
If Daisy wanted to monopolize the Arc Reactor technology, she should have just watched Stark succumb to the poisoning. Stark was already showing severe signs of visual decline, and his life was effectively on a countdown due to the lack of a detoxifying agent. He had no strength left to research new energy sources.
But she didn't do that. Stark might be a bit annoying and mischievous, but it was hard for anyone to truly hate him, thanks to his unique charismatic personality. Unlike the earnest, straightforward Captain America, Stark was like the friend next door—unreliable at times, but willing to bravely forge ahead when it mattered most, even if it meant sacrificing his own life.
Daisy had specifically consulted Viper about this issue. As the person with the highest level of expertise in poisons in the world, Viper couldn't instantly resolve palladium poisoning, but she did have a secret formula that could alleviate the toxins. With prolonged use, it could gradually eliminate the toxins from the body.
Daisy examined the detoxifying agent configured by the agents, shook her head slightly, and had to give some suggestions.
As the palladium in the test tube was suppressed by her secret formula, all the agents gave her a thumbs up.
"Incredible!" Black Widow exclaimed, picking up the antidote and heading into the fast-food restaurant. She was known as the Black Widow because of her operational methods—her skills in using poisons and antidotes were only average, nowhere near comparable to Viper.
Daisy followed her into the fast-food restaurant, and it had been a week since she saw Tony Stark again, wearing his Iron Man suit and mask removed.
Stark's face was very pale; the metallic palladium was causing him significant bodily harm.
There was no sign of any staff in the store, undoubtedly, the place had been commandeered by the FBI again.
Watching Black Widow and Daisy enter, especially looking at Black Widow's agent uniform, Stark's tone was still teasing, but there was a hint of anger in his eyes.
"Is this how you invite me? How many more agents are around me? Is my chef also an agent?" Stark asked Nick Fury seriously.
Black Widow, holding a syringe, injected Stark's neck and observed the effects for a while. Only after seeing that it indeed had a suppressing effect, she then sat down at another table with Daisy.
Neither of them paid any more attention to Stark. Good old Agent Coulson had prepared some food for them.
Daisy had eaten some baguette and a bit of foie gras on the plane. She was already hungry. She didn't care if it was junk food or not; she grabbed a couple of doughnuts and started eating.
"Where did you come from?" Black Widow didn't have as good an appetite; such high-calorie food would ruin her figure, eating a bite meant an extra ten minutes of exercise, so she just drank a few sips of water, watching Daisy eat continuously, she couldn't help but ask.
"Edwards Air Force Base." There was nothing secretive about it, and she answered frankly.
"You went to see Rhodey?" Stark appeared to be talking to Nick Fury, but his ears were tuned to their conversation, and upon hearing 'Edwards Air Force Base,' he immediately reacted.
Daisy nonchalantly nodded.
"You all betrayed me one by one..."
"It was Colonel Rhodes who betrayed you, I'm not close to you."
"You are also a shareholder of Stark Industries."
"The American Constitution gives us equal status. I own shares in Stark, but I am not your employee," Daisy said lightly, waving her hand to indicate she didn't know him.
Stark pointed at Black Widow, "She's supposed to be my assistant, and I pay her a high salary! This salary should be far higher than what you agents make."
"I am now Miss Potts' assistant, and I will resign after this month," Black Widow responded indifferently.
"Cough cough—" Nick Fury, frustrated, wanted to kick them out. You must be here to sabotage!
He looked like he was about to cough up a lung, but relying on his superb acting skills, he managed to refocus everyone's attention on himself.
"We are here to help you." The Director's eye was intense as he signaled his subordinates to stop talking nonsense.
Daisy continued to eat while listening to their conversation.
When she heard Nick Fury, this semi-literate and pretentious person telling Stark that he hadn't tried all the elements yet, she almost laughed out loud. She seriously doubted whether the Director even remembered half of the periodic table of chemical elements...
Finally, the conversation ended smoothly, at least for the moment.
Nick Fury gave Daisy a meaningful look. She was surprised. What is he planning?
Fortunately, she was quick to react. Seeing flames ignite under Stark's feet as he flew southward, she wondered, "Going to his villa?"
Fury gave her a 'you guessed right' expression. Daisy saw Black Widow and Coulson also coming over, indicating they would all go together. She could only nod silently. The group was a bit large, but the distance was not far; she would transport everyone at once.
As for the science division agents left in the fast-food restaurant, they would wait for orders. Maybe seeing several leaders disappearing from the restaurant out of thin air would add to the mysterious aura of high-level agents in their minds.
She teleported, taking the group into Tony Stark's villa, which was already wrecked like a ruin.
Yesterday's birthday party must have been wild. As Daisy walked through, she saw over a dozen shoes left among the rubble, and even more mobile phones, handbags, and watches scattered all around.
Looking around, the fight between Rhodes and Stark had demolished half of the villa. If this happened to her own villa, this was enough to keep her up for three nights. Yet, Tony Stark entered the villa as if walking into someone else's house, casually kicking the rubble and broken furniture.
The second phase of the conversation officially began. Agents who had been waiting for long time nearby brought out a large box from a Quinjet.
Nick Fury said that everything Howard Stark had left at S.H.I.E.L.D. was in this box, and there must be something in there that could help him.
"I'll be watching you," Fury said as a closing remark at the end of their conversation.
Cosmic rays hadn't much enhanced Daisy's physical abilities, but they had significantly improved her control over her own powers. She opened a portal and sent Nick Fury back to Washington. Black Widow, according to her, had to go back to work to earn this month's salary. As for Daisy herself, she was incredibly busy.
The three left separately. Stark, looking at Coulson smiling nearby, asked, "They all left, why aren't you going? Did they leave you here to help me clean up the place?"
Coulson wasn't upset and just smiled amiably at Stark. In his eyes, this billionaire was no different from the immature kids in the school...
