The fat man started with a wide smile that twisted his facial features beyond recognition, saying, "Miss Johnson truly represents the epitome of contemporary successful entrepreneurs..."
As a politician who survives on his eloquence, he spoke far more gracefully than Justin Hammer, a zesty businessman. His compliments seemed heartfelt and not tiresome, demonstrating the art of conversation at its best. Even though Daisy knew this product was part of Hydra, she couldn't help but feel somewhat pleased.
Senator Stern lavished praise on Daisy as if it cost him nothing, generously throwing out titles like "exceptional scientist" and "outstanding entrepreneur" upon her.
The senator had clearly done his homework for this visit. He moved from discussing data analytics to national defense construction, loudly condemning frontline generals for recklessly squandering the lives of ordinary soldiers.
"They are committing crimes, using the lives of our youth for their own promotions and to make money for oil merchants!" Brother Fatty demonstrated considerable acting skills, perfectly portraying the image of a caring congressman who cares about the soldiers at the bottom.
"You're right, Senator," Daisy agreed, maintaining political correctness.
Senator Stern then smoothly transitioned the topic, "Hammer Industries has always been trying to develop mechanized armor to save those innocent lives, but unfortunately..."
Justin Hammer on the side immediately adopted a mournful expression, "It's a pity that I don't have enough abilities. Neither software nor hardware can be perfected."
Daisy quickly covered her mouth and made a regretful facial expression, trying to suppress her laughter. What Justin had developed could hardly be called armor; they were more like robot soldiers. Without special modification, the driver simply entered. As he admitted, both the software and hardware components were poorly executed.
At this point, Daisy did not see much value in Hammer Industries and had assessed its dangerous situation. Justin had redirected large amounts of funds towards developing his robotic soldiers, and despite having numerous orders from the Department of Defense, his company was now in financial difficulties.
"We know Miss Johnson is a renowned engineer, and we hope you can join Hammer Industries," At the end of the conversation, Justin Hammer finally stated his intention. It was clear they weren't truly interested in Skye Data; it seemed more like they were using shares as bait to solicit Daisy's help.
If the company could be saved, they would all profit. But if it went bankrupt or suffered severe setbacks, the shares of Hammer Industries would be worthless.
It can be said as a businessman, Justin Hammer is pretty smart in thinking.
Daisy did not immediately accept. She bid farewell to Senator Stern and accompanied Justin Hammer, along with the former mob strategist, to his weapon manufacturing facility in the suburbs for a tour.
The facility was expansive, with equipment and personnel that were among the best in the industry. Daisy noticed several key former employees of Stark's weapons development division. These people wouldn't just go work at a wind power plant; they were weapon makers and could only make weapons. Having lost their positions, they had no choice but to step through the doors of Hammer Industries.
During Obadiah's tenure as CEO, Stark Industries consistently dominated Hammer Industries, and as former employees of Stark, they held a deep sense of superiority over Hammer. However, harsh reality forced them to swallow their pride and align with their former enemy, despite their reluctance.
Daisy disregarded the group of spineless technicians and followed Justin deeper into the facility, where she encountered the so-called robotic soldiers in a dust-free processing workshop.
"Mr. Hammer, I heard that each of these soldiers costs about $120 million to produce?" Daisy asked, pointing at the robots that looked more like toys than weapons.
Hammer's face contorted awkwardly, reminiscent of someone who swallowed shit. He had high hopes for these products, which now looked pathetic, and he wished he could just bring out the design and construction staff and give them a 'suicide by bullet to the back of the head' experience.
Unfortunately, he was a businessman, not an engineer, and he was born with no talent in this area. The final products made by the highly-paid engineers poached from Stark Industries were these miserable things. The noose around his neck was tightening, and in desperation, he sought outside help.
In the original timeline, Ivan Vanko provided assistance, but now Vanko had mysteriously died in the hospital, cutting off that road directly
In the desperate situation, Senator Stern, one of the people behind Hammer Industries, found him. And being under severe external situations and internal threats Justin had no choice but to turn to Daisy.
Daisy is so much stronger in position than the imprisoned Vanko, and would naturally command a higher price.
With a forced smile, Justin Hammer looked at his robotic soldiers as if they were his children. "Yes, actually, I quoted the Department of Defense $125.7 million per unit, with each unit costing nearly $90 million to produce."
Daisy assessed the situation: there were twenty robotic soldiers in total, indicating that Hammer had sunk nearly two billion dollars in this big pit.
Considering the hard work she put into building the flying aircraft carrier... What was her income? 800 million, and the broken robots before her, worth at most 400-500 million in her estimation, meant that Justin Hammer had been fleeced of 1.5 billion dollars, or possibly even more.
Daisy sighed for a while, indeed the arms industry was most lucrative. To her, Justin Hammer now epitomized the stereotype of a stupid person with more money than a brain.
Hammer was impulsive, lacked technical knowledge, and had poor judgment, making him utterly unsuited to be a business executive. What was his forte? Salesmanship! Justin Hammer was essentially a master of marketing.
No matter whether his products were viable, he could sell them beautifully. Now, thanks to these shoddy robotic soldiers, he had managed to secure a five-year contract with the Department of Defense. Now the preliminary agreement is in place and only the robotic soldiers are problematic, everything else seems fine.
Daisy's past life experience has been telling her, is money important? In fact, the relationship between people is the most important thing!
The strong relationship Justin Hammer had forged with the Department of Defense was indeed his most valuable asset.
Daisy circled the robotic soldiers, using her hacking tech to breach Hammer Industries' firewalls and access the source code of the robots.
Ivan Vanko had called these robotic soldiers trash, and Daisy reached a similar conclusion.
Hammer Industries had been suppressed by Stark Industries for years, collecting only second-rate talent. Now that they were beginning to improve, Justin's extravagant investments had led them into a pit...
Could she salvage these robotic soldiers? Daisy believed it wasn't challenging. Compared to the flying aircraft carrier, these were child's play.
However, she was dissatisfied with Justin's offer of a mere 3% share. What was that good for? It was hardly enough to appease a beggar. Holding core technology, with capabilities others lacked, she wanted more!
