Chapter 212 - Sharon's Embarrasment

The knock on the door echoed in Hill's ears again.

Pretend to not be here? Hill wrote off the idea as soon as it came up, her thinking remaining sharp even in this dilemma.

Many staff and crew members had seen her appear on the mothership.

Daisy's teleportation skills are known to several higher-up officials. She often runs around without any organization or discipline. Nick Fury can't do anything about it and just pretends not to see it, so it's normal for Daisy to disappear for a while.

But Hill is different, if she doesn't show up where she's supposed to be, it would be difficult to explain her whereabouts.

She pecked Daisy's chin, nodding toward the clothes on the floor, signaling Daisy to pack up, while she tried to delay time.

With Daisy's gravity manipulation, underwear, shirts, trousers, and a lab coat were pulled over.

"Shoes! Shoes at the door!" Under Hill's whispers, she also pulled the shoes back.

But as Hill wanted to put on the clothes, she encountered another embarrassment. The clothes of the two of them were tied and mixed together by gravity, and she couldn't untie them in a hurry.

"You hide first, I'll deal with Sharon," Hill said, gesturing and winking. Daisy got the message clearly, but unfortunately, there was no wardrobe here and no space under the bed. She could only hide under the blanket, clutching both their clothes and shoes.

The doors at S.H.I.E.L.D. are all voice-activated, so Hill said a word from inside, and the door swung open.

Sharon had been here twice before, so she was somewhat familiar with the place. She had a slight look of suspicion on her face. Women are very sensitive to smells, and as a well-trained agent, Sharon's abilities were quite balanced. She might not have any particular outstanding skills, but she had no weaknesses either.

As a fellow young woman without a partner, Sharon noticed the unusual scent in the room. Though it seemed mixed with something else, she didn't probe further. After all, this was a very personal matter and she had no right to interfere. Plus she could also hear a very low vibration sound when outside.

Seeing Hill wrapped in a blanket with only her head showing confirmed Sharon's suspicions. Her thought was to immediately leave after saying a few words! This was Sharon's intention at that moment.

"Have you seen Daisy?" Sharon's question made Hill freeze halfway, but luckily, her follow-up words weren't as terrifying.

"Daisy got promoted to Level 8 agent. You must have heard about it, right?"

Hill nodded awkwardly. "Yeah, she crawls to her goals so fast," she said, kicking a certain someone who was misbehaving lightly under the blanket. The certain someone, filled with revenge, started using her tongue again.

Sharon seemed a bit disappointed and didn't notice the momentary unnatural look on Hill's face. "I just got promoted to Level 6 myself, and you just got to Level 7. We're both far behind her."

"I even heard she has a good relationship with Mrs. Lance from the Council. Daisy Johnson is a very capable person," Sharon is still well-informed; even the secret dealings between Daisy and the Council were known to her.

"Yeah, she's very capable," Hill emphasized the word "capable," her tone somewhat fierce. She couldn't help but squeeze a certain someone's head in her thighs, who was being naughty once again.

Daisy could survive many minutes without breathing and just took in the heavenly feeling around her cheeks.

"In fact, her promotion isn't a bad thing. That position involves dealing with all sorts of messy people. With your personality, it would be really hard," Sharon had to admit frankly. After learning of Daisy's promotion to Level 8 agent, she inquired about it among the higher-ups. Though it wasn't a done deal yet, they had a preliminary impression.

Even though Nick Fury hadn't expressed her position for a long time, in the eyes of the higher-ups, Daisy Johnson was the only candidate. She was capable, and the upper echelons believed she had weaknesses that could be exploited. Most important thing is that Daisy was actively aligning herself with the higher-ups.

Currently, there was no one within S.H.I.E.L.D. who could challenge her for this position. Becoming the director in one step was impossible, but there were rumors suggesting the possibility of appointing a deputy Director within the existing framework.

This position was much higher than the former deputy role Hill. While she was subordinate to the director, responsible solely for the Director, a deputy Director was responsible for the entire agency. The rights and responsibilities of both were completely different.

Sharon had heard some news and rumors, and specifically returned to headquarters to persuade Hill. She advised against increasing conflicts and suggested a change in mindset at this stage. With their friendship as a foundation, the three of them forming a united front would actually be a formidable force within S.H.I.E.L.D.

Hill's train of thought was a bit biased. Just because she didn't talk with Daisy, it didn't mean she didn't think about it.

Sometimes, in the dead of night, she would wonder where the difference between them was. It wasn't just about superpowers; the crucial factor was their differing views on the role of agents.

Hill believed agents should be discreet, willing to sacrifice, and should resist dealing with the powerful. At least, they shouldn't compromise their principles.

Daisy had the opposite mindset—she was flashy, fame-hungry, and always seemed to run faster than everyone, with no principles...

That was the root of their biggest difference.

Hill didn't know that there was a passive ability called "Reincarnator's Bottom Line." She could only attribute the difference to their different upbringings; she was more principled, while Daisy was better at adapting on the fly.

Now, someone with principles had been defeated by someone without them—that was the reality.

"What about you? Do you really have no ideas about this?" Hill momentarily forgot that her current appearance, wrapped in a blanket, wasn't really conducive to serious conversation.

To her credit, Sharon handled it well, shaking her head with a smile. "No way, that position isn't suited for me at all. Put me in a room with those politicians? I'd end up shooting them! Haha!"

"Uh, well... You go on with what you were doing. I'll leave first," Sharon had a keen sense, realizing that today wasn't the right time for a deep discussion. She hurriedly bid farewell and left. At the door, she almost collided with Nick Fury, who was like a tower, and coming to see Hill.

"Agent Carter?" Fury's one-eye had a hint of confusion, but not much. He only caught the laughter at the end and was curious about what Sharon wanted with Hill. The king of spies' suspicions flared up, and he wanted to know what they had been discussing.

Seemingly unconcerned, as he stepped into the room, Fury understood everything in an instant when he saw Hill wrapped in a blanket, with only her head visible.

His expression remained unchanged, but his peripheral vision began to observe the subtle changes in their expressions.

For someone of his age, although the smell in the room had dissipated somewhat, there was still a lingering scent. Sharon's departure and Hill's appearance were automatically interpreted as signals by him.

They had a relationship! He hadn't known about this before.

Sharon also thought of these details at this moment. By God, she wasn't like that! She liked strong and powerful men!

But there was no way to explain this. Once explained, she would put Hill in an awkward position. Just half a minute ago, they had been discussing forming a close alliance. It wouldn't be appropriate to kick an ally into the river now.

But if she didn't explain, this sudden realization wasn't the kind of "close alliance" she wanted.

She couldn't explain their relationship, nor could she explain her purpose of coming here. She couldn't say she wanted Hill to give up the competition, form a trio, or anything else.

The blonde beauty was momentarily at a loss for words.
