Chapter 167 - Blonsky's Decision

===================

Faced with his daughter's tears, General Ross felt extremely unsettled. After all, he was still a father.

What made him even more embarrassed and intolerable was the gazes of his soldiers. It wasn't ancient times anymore, and no one was much dumber than anyone else. This time, not only were there no casualties, not a single bullet was fired. They only used up some fuel and a bit more tranquilizer.

Compared to past battles with injuries and casualties, this was a complete victory. Why did such a drastically different outcome occur? Without a doubt, it was the fault of the commander.

The grunts might be easy to fool, but he would have to work hard to placate his colleagues in the Department of Defense. There would be various exchanges of interests, which gave him a headache.

At one point, General Ross even had a strange idea: why not just let the Hulk go?

But this thought could only be considered briefly. If he let the enemy go, what awaited him was surely the gallows or a live broadcast of his execution.

"Fall in! Take her too!" Feeling agitated with his daughter crying in front of him, General Ross waved his hand and decided to take everyone back!

"General, I have some experience with tranquilizers. Do you need me...?" Daisy volunteered automatically.

"No need. You two have worked hard. We can handle the rest." The old man flatly refused her help. What a joke! If the military couldn't even produce special effective tranquilizers, they might as well disband!

Daisy felt like she had done her best and didn't insist further.

Everyone came here nervously but returned home relieved.

General Ross was still pondering matters at the Pentagon, Betty was still crying, Blonsky was a bit frustrated for not getting a chance for the ultimate showdown, and Nick Fury was still figuring out how to justify keeping the $5.5 billion budget in S.H.I.E.L.D. Apart from these four main characters, other passersby, including Daisy, were in good spirits.

...

Separated from the S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel, General Ross led his team back to the Pentagon.

Betty Ross cried until her voice was hoarse, gradually calming down. However, she was being watched by several female soldiers and couldn't move an inch. Meanwhile, Bruce Banner was tightly guarded.

General Ross wasn't just boasting. The military's level of poison might not be as good as HYDRA's, but it wasn't weak either. They administered a large dose of 10kg tranquilizers, ensuring that Bruce Banner was thoroughly sedated. They used various restraints, leaving no stone unturned.

Seeing that Banner was completely subdued, General Ross finally breathed a sigh of relief. A more difficult battle was still waiting for him. He would have to face the questioning of the Secretary and the other generals. If he couldn't get through it, retirement and going home would be the best choice.

The old general had always been known for his iron-blooded style, having defeated countless enemies, but he had never felt so embarrassed before.

There were spies of others under his command, and he also had informants elsewhere.

The news that the problem of the Hulk had been solved for $300 had already spread in a small circle. Ridiculous! That was how many neutral parties evaluated him. But his political enemies didn't think so. They had been waiting with their knives out and sharpened.

Betty Ross didn't know that her own father was facing a huge crisis. Even if she did, she probably wouldn't care.

She just wanted to get rid of the two strong-looking female soldiers in front of her and then rescue Bruce Banner.

Unfortunately, although she knew some self-defense techniques, she was clearly no match for the female soldiers. In a democratic system, everyone is equal.

They wouldn't refrain from hitting her just because her father was a general! If she resisted, it would definitely attract the fists and kicks of the female soldiers.

Betty racked her brains for a solution, but no matter how hard she thought, she couldn't come up with a good plan.

Just as she was at her wits' end and the image of Bruce Banner being dissected on an operating table appeared in her mind, a middle-aged man walked in.

The middle-aged man, Betty had some impression of him, seemed to be one of her father's soldiers, named Blonsky?

"The general wants me to ask her a few questions. You all can leave," Blonsky said to the two female soldiers.

The two strong and muscular female soldiers, who looked like tough women, were somewhat surprised. However, Blonsky held high prestige among the group of soldiers, so they hesitated for a moment before turning to leave.

Thud, thud.

Blonsky delivered a swift blow to the back of each of their heads, knocking them unconscious. With his formidable skills as a former military champion and the enhancement from the super soldier serum injection, even though it was an inferior version, the female soldiers fell unconscious without even a groan.

Blonsky gagged and bound the two women's hands and feet before gesturing for Betty to follow him.

"Look normal and walk with me," Blonsky said calmly as they walked out.

As the daughter of General Ross, the girlfriend of Bruce Banner, and the future Red She-Hulk, Betty Ross also had a brave heart.

She pretended to be nonchalant and walked out of the detention room with Blonsky.

There were still many staff members in the Pentagon, and the two of them didn't look out of place.

It wasn't until they walked past two corners, heading towards the underground facilities and entering an elevator, that Betty asked, "Why are you helping me?"

At first, Blonsky didn't want to answer, but Betty asked again, and he said, "I'm a fighter. I want to fight him."

Originally, Blonsky could maintain a detached mindset. He believed that besides the Hulk, he was the most amazing warrior in the world, and since the Hulk was completely irrational, he should be the undisputed number one.

But tonight, seeing Daisy's performance, his mentality collapsed!

He didn't know what the ice bucket challenge was; that thing was too far from him. He had been in the military camp for twenty years and was just a pure soldier.

Originally, he thought Daisy was a government agent, someone he wouldn't even bother to fight with. But when Daisy ran off with Betty, he realized he was wrong, very wrong.

Many soldiers couldn't see any problems due to factors like the rainy night, but having been enhanced by the super soldier serum, he could see it. Daisy's speed far exceeded that of an ordinary person. Clenching his teeth, Blonsky felt that he could run at that speed too, but the key was that Daisy was also pulling another woman, and she didn't seem to be exerting much effort. That was terrifying.

Blonsky realized that he might not be the strongest person in the world after all, and he was depressed.

Unfortunately, Daisy and the others slipped away too quickly. In the blink of an eye, they disappeared. He didn't even have a chance to challenge her. When he returned to the Pentagon, he tossed and turned again and again, and all he could think of was that high-speed figure.

He needed a fight, a fulfilling battle, to reignite the warrior spirit within him.

So, he wanted to rescue Betty, rescue Bruce Banner, and have a fight with him. He wanted to defeat his powerful opponent honorably.

Betty felt a bit dizzy. She felt like she didn't understand what Blonsky meant, but she didn't refuse this unexpected help. She would figure out what to do after rescuing Banner.

As they walked, Blonsky seemed to be muttering about his past experiences in a dreamlike state, trying to boost his morale. Looking at him, Betty couldn't help but feel like she was looking at a lunatic.
