Chapter 148 - Gift

===================

The two haven't seen each other for several months. Daisy has been busy Saving Private Stark, pretending to show off with Nick Fury, and investigating the Weapon-X program. She's been occupied every day. Meanwhile, Hill has been serving as the captain on the Iliad aircraft carrier.

A strong sense of strangeness was between them as they sat down. Their relationship should be close, but neither of them knows what to say in this moment.

Dealing with politicians daily, Daisy's conversational skills are higher than Hill's. She broke the silence first, asking casually, "Is it fun sailing on the Iliad?"

Hill, not wanting to strain their relationship, goes along with the topic and begins describing the scenery along the way—from Hawaii and New Zealand to Australia, all the way to South Africa and the Indian Ocean, which is the Iliad's patrol range.

She picks a few interesting incidents to share, and Daisy nods and smiles, easing the atmosphere.

"Was Tony Stark really embarrassed at that time?" Hill also asked about Afghanistan.

Hmm? Daisy was taken aback. Is Stark really so unpopular? Even the cool and composed Hill wants to hear jokes about him?

Feeling somewhat resentful, Daisy wishes she hadn't left so early. At least she could have taken a few pictures of the playboy to make jokes!

Mocking Stark poses no pressure for her. She described it embarrassingly. In her words, Stark was severely beaten by the Ten Rings, barely escaping, facing pursuers. If it weren't for S.H.I.E.L.D. and Colonel Rhodes's timely arrival, he would probably have been done for.

"Stop making things up! I've read your mission reports." Hill knows Daisy's habit of exaggerating, so she just listens without taking it too seriously.

As if thinking about something, Hill looked weird, "Your new subordinate Bobbi is in a really good shape..."

"Really? I didn't pay too much attention to it." She of course wouldn't say that she kept staring at Bobbi while taking a shower, but to be honest, the gymnastic champion Mockingbird is indeed in good shape... slightly worse than Hill and Sharon, who were beautiful women of the same level.

This question should be answered categorically.

Didn't see it, didn't pay attention, these things are too difficult, just say I haven't taken a bath for three months!

Hill obviously didn't believe it, but she just said that whether it is a female soldier or agent, limited by conditions, it's normal to take a bath together.

Thinking about her relationship with Daisy, Hill felt that some things need to be clarified. Between career and not-so-deep first relationship, she chose her career.

Choosing her words carefully, she started, "I think at the moment, we should..."

Before she could finish, Daisy interrupted her. Once words are spoken, they cannot be taken back. Daisy isn't trying to salvage any relationship; she just thinks Hill places too much importance on her so-called career, to the point of obsession. She wants to offer an alternative, a new path for Hill.

She took out a necklace box and handed it to Hill.

"I'm giving this to you; it will be useful to you."

"For me?..." She thought it was a gift from Daisy, which is technically correct. Hill hesitated to refuse but decides to take a look first. Even if she returns it later, it's better than rejecting it outright.

"Hmm?" Originally expecting a necklace, Hill opened the box and found... a necklace? It's a bit crude, though.

Inside the box is a white tiger talisman with a silver-white tiger head and two intimidating claws.

Asking Daisy with questioning eyes, she didn't understand why she was gifted such a weird thing.

"Go to my training ground; I'll show it to you." Daisy's eyes were firm, and somehow Hill couldn't refuse her, so she could only leave the coffee shop with her.

The two drove to Daisy's training ground.

Pointing at the white tiger talisman, Daisy says, "Put it on and experience the superpowers."

This straightforward statement left no room for ambiguity.

Superpowers?! Having experienced much in life, maybe Peggy Carter could resist the temptation of superpowers, but not Hill.

She took out the talisman and under Daisy's encouraging eyes, put it around her neck.

The White Tiger talisman didn't have the slightest dissatisfaction with its new owner; the previous one simply didn't suit its preferences.

Having never communicated face-to-face, and with Daisy gaining the blessing of the Panther Goddess, the relationship between them has become irreparable. You could say it's good that it was intangible, if it had a form, it might have tried to jump out and chat with Daisy.

Now with a new host, and one without much power at that, the talisman is very pleased.

In the spiritual world, the spirit of the White Tiger takes the form of a tall body—a silver-white Bengal tiger, crouching in place, towering like a mountain.

"Are you a god?" Hill looked around in the spiritual world, it was her first time to get close to superpowers. To be honest, Hill was a little excited.

Daisy is automatically ignored by her, similar to Viper, Hill doesn't think Daisy's "vibrational" ability is particularly earth-shattering. Compared to the giant tiger in front of her, it seems rather underwhelming!

The large tiger coughed. It was quite principled and didn't talk nonsense.

"I am not a god, but I can offer you power."

Hill frowned, the suspicion that belonged to every agent kicking in. She thought there was a conspiracy.

In her mental world, the big tiger quickly explained, "I'm just offering you power. You will still be yourself. If you don't believe me, you can ask your partner; she was my previous... previous host."

The previous host's experience was not pleasant for the tiger. Daisy hardly used it. Instead she constantly dealt with cheetahs, lions, and rhinos, which irritated the tiger. Even as a fragment of spiritual power, it found it annoying!

Hearing Daisy's name, Hill finally snapped out of her random thoughts. Despite their competitive relationship, Hill is sure Daisy won't harm her. She even feels that if she were to attack, Daisy would retreat instead of retaliating—no evidence, just a gut feeling.

Recovering from the supernatural awe, Hill clarified the logical sequence and curiously asks the big tiger, "I don't think I've seen her use your power. Has she ever used it?"

The spirit of the White Tiger is speechless, thinking, can we change the topic? Unfortunately, bound by the talisman's rules, it has to answer.

The head as big as a boulder shook.

"Why hasn't she been using your power all this time?"

Although he didn't want to answer, reluctantly, the big tiger explained, "...Because her own power is similar to mine."

It's been almost half a year since Hill last saw Daisy, and she honestly didn't know her power level, just that they exceeded normal limits. But she hadn't seen anything that could be considered against the sky.

Sensing Hill's disbelief, the big tiger was depressed and could only continue to explain...
