Chapter 117 - Attack of Daisy

===================

The team of Obama has started to generate buzz about the ice bucket challenge in various media, creating an air of mystery as if they are about to do some groundbreaking event.

Meanwhile, Skye Data, leveraging its early advantage, aggressively pushed advertisements. Using big data calculations, they recommend the ice bucket challenge to specific groups based on individual habits. It seems impossible to escape the promotion.

Three days later, in Washington D.C., a large gathering of reporters assembled in front of Obama's campaign office. They speculated and discussed, curious about what this African-American presidential candidate was up to today.

In order to set off the atmosphere and prevent the candidate from being alone in this event, Daisy is also participating in the ice bucket challenge today.

As the boss of Skye Data and Skye Films, as well as the organizer of the event, she wore a formal OL (office lady) outfit today. After eating the Heart-Shaped Herb that increases the agility attributes of the user, she can now comfortably control the stiletto heels with one-step skirts.

However, in preparation for the challenge, she also prepared a raincoat; after all, women enjoy certain privileges.

At the moment, the raincoat was in the hands of a maid. Daisy also brought James Wesley with her. The former gangster is enjoying his current lifestyle more and more, interacting with the upper echelons of society. He is no longer interested in Kingpin and the drug laundry business and already looks down on it.

This has nothing to do with friendship; it's purely a matter of personal values.

Daisy and he were networking with people in the crowd separately. Regardless of Mr. Wesley's abilities, for now, he needs Daisy's influence; after all, as a former drug launderer, who among these people would recognize him?

Daisy casually chatted with a few congressmen's wives when suddenly she noticed a figure and recognized it after a look. She was surprised to find that the person was also part of the Democratic camp!

"Huh? You're Dr. Hank, right? I heard Professor Charles mention you. You're a genius." She extends her right hand to the middle-aged man dressed in a refined manner, wearing frameless glasses. This is the member of the X-Men, The Beast. However, he has left Xavier's School and is now working independently for the cause of mutants in society.

Beast, also known as Hank, has the mutant ability to transform into a large blue-furred man, resembling a gorilla from a distance.

While Professor Charles' abilities complement his knowledge, Beast's transformation into a blue-furred gorilla doesn't contribute much to his scientific talent. He has become a top scientist entirely through his own efforts.

Fate has been unfair; Beast's genetic defects are evident, but he hasn't given up. Through hard work and talent, he has gained recognition from many people.

Daisy admires Beast very much; she has seen his photos, and it turns out he recognizes her as well.

With Professor Charles as their common acquaintance and now their similar political stances, they quickly become acquainted with each other.

"I heard you had a spar with Ororo? The kids at the academy were scared by you." Beast is good at conversation. He brought up this event, indirectly complimenting Daisy.

Daisy also praised Hank for inventing the Danger Room. Indeed, the Danger Room was developed by him and Professor Charles, but most of the work was done by Beast. Daisy is quite familiar with Danger, perhaps even more so than its creator. Now just discuss a few superficial issues, and the two of them now have a closer relationship.

"Professor Hank, do you believe that the mutant issue can also be classified as racial discrimination?" She lowered her voice. Although many know about the Beast's mutant identity, this topic is not suitable for discussion with fanfare.

"The current living conditions for mutants is very bad. Many people undergo mutations at a young age, and there are very few mutants like Charles who show no external abnormalities. Their genetics make them show characteristics different from ordinary people. This results in discrimination and insults that often lead these children to run away from home. They lack social awareness and are highly likely to take the wrong path. In my opinion, this is a social problem."

Beast, Hank, delivered a lengthy talk about his own philosophy. Of course, it's not that he and Daisy have to but their heads at first meeting; he hopes she can make efforts in the upper echelons to eliminate the gap between mutants and humans.

Daisy doesn't shy away from this discussion either, "I've seen from S.H.I.E.L.D.'s data that the number of mutants has been increasing in recent years, and there's a trend toward younger ages."

"You've analyzed it correctly; that's my observation as well."

Daisy stretched out a hand, indicating she hadn't finished speaking, "Professor Hank, I know you want to fight for some rights and political status for mutants. But have you considered that the mutants might be like a wave, very active in some periods of time, and then disappear and reintegrate into human society?"

"If we help mutants gain social status now, when the mutant population declines, will the disputes with humans start again?"

Beast had heard about this "Wave Theory" for the first time, and he found it a bit new, but at the same time, this thought process was too negative. It suggests that conflicts might naturally resolve over time.

Daisy knows that things follow a certain pattern; mutants won't pose a threat to humans themselves. Stories like Neanderthals and Homo sapiens won't occur in modern times.

Whether it's the moderate Charles Xavier, the radical Magneto, or the current Beast seeking a new path, they are overthinking it. Genes are making a joke with them. When this wave of genetic outburst is over, the mutant population will drastically decrease, and it will eventually return to calm, just like historical mutants who reintegrated into the human population.

There's no issue of one group replacing another.

"Let's discuss this in more detail sometime. It's about to start over there." Daisy ended the conversation with Beast, after all, today's protagonist is Obama.

As an important aide and the challenger for the second bucket of ice, she also needs to make some preparations.

Obama faced the national media with a serious expression. He's not concerned about any shame of getting wet. At this time, he was dressed in a sharp suit, tie, and meticulously polished shoes, not worried about his image.

People like to see big figures make a fool of themselves; it brings them closer. Obama doesn't know which of his staff gave him such a suggestion. Obama gritted his teeth and made up his mind, no longer worried about image problems, and without any mission protection, went directly to the ice bucket.

Blah blah blah.. Talk about the significance of the Ice Bucket Challenge. Then, to show his strength, he added some more ice cubes to the large bucket of water and showed it in front of the camera. After that, he threw the bucket over his head.

The cheering spirit is universal, particularly enthusiastic in the United States. Journalists went crazy, capturing the image of Obama drenched to the bone and in a mess, ready to make it headline news.

After Obama's performance, he wiped his face and moved on to the next segment. He formally invited Daisy to continue the challenge.

Donating a hundred dollars to skip the challenge is not even considered; for the sake of publicity, Daisy is all in. Handing her bag and coat to the maid, she put on a raincoat and stepped onto the stage.
