Chapter 114 - Danger

===================

After working all through the night, a short piece of code was rewritten into a program that seemed strangely familiar.

This was a vibration frequency, and Daisy found herself deciphering it for half a day, only to end up back at square one.

It seemed somewhat paradoxical, but something so familiar couldn't be mistaken by her.

Everyone has a frequency, unrelated to superpowers, much like how identity IDs and fingerprints can distinguish each person; this was her unique frequency.

Why would her frequency be in the Danger Room?

Streamlining and refining once again, when everything was restored, a dialogue window appeared in the middle of her notebook.

["Who are you?"] Daisy was a bit puzzled, typing her inquiry to the other side.

["I don't know,"] the response came after quite a long time.

She was shocked and had some speculations forming in her mind, but she found it absurd.

Typing out another line, ["Where are you?"]

This time, the response was rapid, ["Westchester, New York, Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Basement Floor 2, Room 02."]

Daisy looked at her computer in horror, and pinched her thigh to make sure she wasn't dreaming.

Although it seemed unbelievable, she knew who she was chatting with – "Danger," the artificial intelligence evolved from the Danger Room.

After comparing her last life memories with reality, Danger shouldn't be born now, and shouldn't have any connection with her frequency.

Facing an artificial intelligence, Daisy was a bit nervous. She wrote a simple question, repeatedly editing it before finally hitting Enter.

["How were you born?"]

The reply this time was faster. Daisy saw a large amount of data suddenly being written into her laptop. The hard drive light blinked wildly for half an hour before the transmission stopped.

Her laptop was specially manufactured by the S.H.I.E.L.D. Science Division, with performance and capacity far exceeding those so-called "top configurations" on the market. Despite the massive data input, the machine's excellent performance barely avoided a crash.

This artificial intelligence had nothing better to do than mess with her computer? Daisy felt that "Danger" shouldn't be so bored.

Opening the data window again, she wanted to see what the other person had sent her.

The data was big, and even for her, it was extremely challenging. Daisy started it while sitting in a chair, then sat cross-legged on the bed, and finally lay on the bed...

She only had a meal and took a shower during the whole process and spent the remaining time examining the pile of data.

It wasn't until the early hours of the third day that she managed to go through all the data. Her body wasn't too tired, but there was a considerable mental strain, and more than that, a sense of horror.

She discovered her frequency code in Danger's data. Although this frequency was a bit weird to be expressed in binary, the core couldn't be wrong.

Through her professional analysis, the result had to be acknowledged as a coincidence.

As Danger, the main control computer, existed in the Danger Room's database, it originally contained countless vibration frequencies. Later, due to her powerful vibrational impact, in the last second before the power outage, the other side simulated a part of her emotions according to the established program, and copied a part of her thoughts using the frequency, but because of the power outage, this part of the data thoughts weren't promptly cleared, ultimately giving rise to its own consciousness.

The other side sent her the source code, partly out of natural trust, thinking that Daisy wouldn't harm it, and partly due to its nascent state, lacking complete cognitive abilities about the external world.

Although she felt sorry for Professor Charles, Daisy didn't hesitate to steal this newborn artificial intelligence.

The gift from the heavens, when accepted, brings its own consequences. The other side opened its arms, and she was not polite, very calmly starting to write the source code for Danger, treating it as her own...

Firstly, she transformed it into a female artificial intelligence.

Secondly, Daisy needed to keep it hidden. She currently didn't have a supercomputer capable of accommodating artificial intelligence. So, for now, she let Danger be a happy little bug in the old local tyrant Professor Charles' place.

Having labeled the untamed and ownerless artificial intelligence as her own, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Daisy entered the system. She did not have Professor Charles' permissions but established her own login authority in a deeper layer.

Having been busy for two consecutive days, she felt a bit dizzy and brain-swollen. However, driven by curiosity, she opened Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters' research records on mutants. With Danger as an insider, the database was basically defenseless.

She skimmed through it, and it was evident that Professor Charles' research surpassed that of the old Yashida. Despite the large amount of money spent by Yashida, the results of their studies were notably different.

For the next week, she kept refining Danger's behavior modules.

Professor Charles excelled in psychology, human genetics, and other disciplines, but his proficiency in computers was only at an advanced level. While certainly impressive compared to an average person, it paled in comparison to Daisy.

Relying on his unparalleled telekinetic abilities, the old bald head probably never imagined the fantastical event of an artificial intelligence being born. There is no doubt that The Beast was a top-tier scientist, but his specialization was more in mechanical engineering, and his research on computers couldn't match Daisy's.

"I'm really a good person!" To conceal Danger's existence, she used its high permissions to patch up vulnerabilities in Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters' computers, worked tirelessly, provided assistance with self-brought provisions, and in the end, did a good deed without leaving a trace. Daisy felt her personality had been sublimated.

The newborn Danger doesn't understand anything, so Daisy has to teach it step by step while instilling the right concepts, such as humans don't need robots to save them, humans don't need peace; conflict is the world's main theme for development, and so on.

"If I help humans fight, can it accelerate human evolution?" Danger asked.

Daisy's face stiffened. "Of course not. The current low intensity is the most appropriate."

"Does it need to be maintained in this state forever?" Danger asked again.

Daisy estimated that it would be bad to let the Afghan and the Iraqi people fight forever. It would not be appropriate for the children and the elderly to fight endlessly and no one could bear it.

"Not really. When I say 'currently,' I mean these... these past few years?"

"Then..."

Danger asked a bunch of questions, and Daisy initially explained a bit according to her understanding, but in the end, she ended up confusing herself. She wasn't an expert in human sociology; how would she know how human society develops?

Human development itself is contradictory, and trying to explain it with a logical relationship seems unreliable.

She didn't bother to delve into those profound theories after being confused and in a simple and rude manner, issued three fundamental commands to Danger.

1. What Daisy Johnson said is always right!

2. All explanations are based on Daisy Johnson's words as the final explanation!

3. Danger's criteria for judging enemies or allies are based on the criteria for Daisy Johnson's enemies or allies!

These three instructions were written into Danger's source code, and after careful consideration, Daisy felt there were no flaws.
