Chapter 97 - Pursuit Battle

===================

It looked like Viper really didn't want to participate further in this drama, as most of her trusted subordinates were South Asians.

While it was unclear how Viper took twists and turns to hire this group of people. In Daisy's eyes, except for Bartok and his team, who were relatively professional, the rest were mobs.

As the mercenary group stretched out, a bulky figure walking at the rear instantly caught her attention.

This person was extremely tall, nearly three meters in height, and his physique was burly to the extreme. Clad in deep red half-body battle armor, a red rounded helmet, and bulging arm muscles, with each step, the enormous weight pressed onto the ground, producing a deep muffled sound.

Daisy was surprised; she didn't expect the Juggernaut had come to Wakanda. The Juggernaut had clashed three times with the Hulk, all resulting in defeats, but the difference in strength wasn't big.

This overweight man was often mistaken for a mutant, but he wasn't. The Juggernaut's power came from the Crimson Cosmos, from the demon known as Cyttorak, who was hailed as the most powerful. In the early days, this big shot had powerful strength and he was not even afraid of the Court of Life. While he had declined somewhat in strength these days, he could still ignore the Infinity Stones.

A bunch of miscellaneous soldiers didn't matter much, but facing the combination of the Juggernaut and Bartok, Daisy wasn't optimistic about T'Challa.

Bartok and Captain America were 50-50, and the Juggernaut could contend with the Hulk. Black Panther, in essence, had to confront an evil version of Captain America and the Hulk.

If it were the mature Black Panther from the future, perhaps he could rely on his equipment to handle a two-on-one situation. However, the current young Black Panther was just in his early twenties, full of youthful vigor, and whether he could win was uncertain.

"I'll go with you, this enemy," Daisy pointed at the Juggernaut. "Look at his weight; you can tell he's a pretty strong guy."

Regarding whether the heart-shaped herb should be stolen or given by the other party, Daisy had a rough plan. Originally, she had been worried about Bartok's strength not being strong enough, but now the Juggernaut had arrived at the perfect time.

Black Panther was naturally cautious, even though he had become younger, his personality hadn't changed much.

After thinking for a moment, without uttering any grandiose words, he nodded and agreed to Daisy's assistance.

Storm is actually very awkward in Wakanda. She wasn't an outsider, yet she wasn't exactly one of them either. The queen wanted to marry her niece to her son to maintain the political position of their tribe throughout the country.

So, this prospective mother-in-law found Storm quite awkward, and at the same time, as a Kenyan priestess and magician, and the deputy leader of the X-Men, Storm had her own pride. She hadn't learned how to get along with a malicious mother-in-law.

Making her bow like a submissive daughter-in-law and listen carefully to the mother-in-law's teachings? That was a dream! Now, seeing T'Challa and Daisy going to face the enemy, without asking who the enemy was she followed suit.

The three joined the bald female guards, took the Wakanda tram, and hurriedly headed toward the hiding place of the mercenaries.

The mercenaries were a bit dazed at this moment. Initially, they thought they were coming to Africa to steal some antiques or items like gold and ivory. They never expected that after following a convoluted path through the mountains, they unexpectedly discovered a high-tech city.

They were unaware that Wakandans had already detected them, and the leaders of various factions were still arguing with each other.

The Americans believed they should immediately return and report this news.

On the other hand, the Russians grab a fortune first and then discuss other matters.

Bartok, being more rational, felt that the situation here was not simple. He advocated for an immediate retreat and suggested bringing more manpower for further investigation later.

In a short time, Bartok, relying on his high reputation in the mercenary profession, suppressed several dissenting voices.

Just then, he heard a very brief call from the perimeter security personnel.

"Enemy!'' His reaction was swift, and his wolf-like gaze swept through the dense forest, secretly calculating from which direction the enemy might launch an ambush.

Bartok indeed proved to be an experienced mercenary; his predictions were very accurate. When Black Panther dealt with a hidden scout and reappeared, the two collided head-on.

Bartok swiftly kicked, and Black Panther dodged to the side. Bartok's leg attacks were exceptionally precise, with a rhythmic sequence of kicks, displaying both skill and deadly intent.

Black Panther managed to block the powerful sidekicks with his Vibranium battle suit. He then revealed his claws and countered the opponent's aggressive attacks with the sharpness of Vibranium.

Bartok relied on his pair of legs to be a top mercenary, and he had a unique vision. Although he didn't know what Vibranium was, he wasn't stupid enough to confront sharp claws with his flesh.

His footwork was fast and elusive, akin to a French version of Ling Bo Wei Bu. While his speed was that of an ordinary person, his varied footwork, alternating between left and right, front and back, left the physically superior Black Panther dizzy.

In the intervals between evading Black Panther's claw attacks, Bartok's own attacks continued.

Though being kicked a few times didn't cause much harm to Black Panther, who was entirely covered in Vibranium, he couldn't afford to lose face. The once pitch-black solemn battle suit now bore several dusty footprints, which was undeniably an insult. It was alright if no one was watching but unfortunately, his girlfriend and bodyguards were here.

This made Black Panther feel somewhat embarrassed. Instead of dodging Bartok's kicks, he aimed to take down the opponent in the shortest time possible.

The two moved at high speed, exchanging blows. The mercenaries finally reacted. Bartok had a high reputation among them, so they didn't dare to interfere in his battle using guns. Many of them took out melee weapons and joined the fray to assist.

"Kill!" A bald female guard shouted, then charged forward with a spear.

The guards displayed decent combat skills, employing a formation similar to a battle array. Three of them formed a group, with two attacking and one defending. Under their sharp attacks, casualties began to appear among the mercenaries.

Storm started summoning weather to assist in the battle. With her white hair floating, eyes turning white, and her loose robe lifted by a whirlwind, she floated in mid-air. Dark clouds began to cover the sky, and raindrops started falling.

Daisy was speechless at Storm's ability to fly in the air, everything was "blown" by the wind!

The dark clouds and heavy rain which might cause some vision difficulties didn't affect the black people with innate stealth talents much.

The presence of the white mercenaries seemed out of place. To show that she loved peace, Daisy refrained from causing serious harm, focusing on injuring the enemies.

However, the heavy rain was annoying. Daisy wasn't wearing combat gear, and her normal shirt was getting soaked. After dealing with two enemies, she stepped aside under a tree, ready to watch the show.

"Boom!" The clouds gathered quickly, and thunder echoed continuously. Storm, suspended in mid-air, began to unleash her power, occasionally directing lightning to attack the enemies.

The mercenaries couldn't dodge the lightning strikes. They fell one by one, reducing the pressure on the female guards. A small team immediately joined the encirclement against Bartok, and victory seemed within sight.
