Outside the door, Daisy could hear people inside yelling loudly about something. She pushed the door open and walked in.
"Who are you?" Daisy casually entered the office, and everyone inside was surprised, and a gray-haired old woman with a slightly stern expression asked.
Daisy glanced at the people inside. The boy with a small stature and a thin figure was Peter Parker. Across from him stood a larger boy, a bit taller than Peter and quite muscular for an eleven-year-old.
The boy seemed angry, veins popping on the back of his hands and he seemed to give Peter a good beating.
This must be Flash Thompson, right? She observed him for a moment. He was indeed a big guy, and their relationship reminded her of the American comic book version of Nobita and Gian.
The two had been entangled for years; Flash bullied Peter every day, but at the same time he was an enthusiastic admirer of Spider-Man. Eventually, Flash Thompson himself became a superhero, codenamed Agent Venom.
The transformation from a school bully to a hero was a result of the somewhat twisted worldview in America. Bad people, once reformed, were immediately forgiven, while a good person who made a single mistake was quickly condemned.
Being able to bully classmates was considered a sign of strength in the eyes of adults. If you were bullied, well, you deserved it. If you had the ability, fight back! If you couldn't, endure it.
As a firsthand experience of school bullying, Daisy had a great say in this. She hated this kind of environment.
However, she also understood the mindset of these kids. Lectures from elders were simply one word, annoying! Pointing at Peter Parker, she said, "I'm here to take him away."
"Who are you to him?" the teacher asked.
Daisy had anticipated this. Posing as a child's relative was a stupid idea. Little Spider-Man was smart; he wouldn't go with a stranger.
She waved to the teacher, and they walked to the side. Daisy handed her an identification document.
She didn't have a SHIELD ID; she was still a student after all.
The ID she showed the teacher was an FBI ID. SHIELD agents all had one, and it was the standard identification they used for official matters.
In the school, this ID was useless, but in the eyes of this old woman who had been abiding by the law all her life, it was as good as gold.
However, she was still thorough. After a careful inspection and with Daisy's consent, the teacher called to confirm the identification number. Finally satisfied that everything matched, the photo was clear and accurate – this was indeed an FBI agent!
Without hesitation, the old woman politely escorted them out, leaving Flash Thompson to continue listening to the lecture.
Outside the school, as Daisy opened the car door for Peter, the little spider became immediately alert.
Seeing the guarded look on his face, Daisy had to explain her intentions.
Spider-Man's mouth slightly opened. The temptation of being in a movie was even more significant than Daisy had estimated. Peter wanted to earn some money to support his Uncle's family financially.
Seeing Peter Parker's willingness, Daisy started contacting his family.
Uncle Ben was cautious, repeatedly confirming over the phone, and only believed her after a lengthy discussion.
When Daisy drove Peter home, Uncle Ben and Aunt May were already waiting for her.
After presenting proof of her company and bank statements and making several reasonable assurances – no interference with studies, no exposure shots, etc. – it took an hour, but they finally signed the contract.
As they were about to leave, Daisy seemed to suddenly remember something and said to Peter, "There are a few climbing scenes in the play, like climbing fences and trees. If you have time, you can try practicing on your own!"
With Spider-Man sorted, dealing with little Gwen was much easier.
Director George was easy to talk to, not just because of their previous acquaintance, but because he knew Daisy's identity. As the Commissioner of the NYPD, he was familiar with SHIELD and knew Nick Fury. Fury had even inquired a lot about Daisy from him.
Making a movie wasn't a big deal for him. If his daughter was eager and interested, he agreed over the phone.
The chaotic early auditions went well; both half-grown kids demonstrated good acting skills. Peter Parker had a natural talent for climbing, effortlessly scaling trees and wire fences. Surprisingly, Gwen was also quite good at climbing. Daisy was satisfied with their performances.
The role of the black computer expert was rejected by the Director, and they found a replacement within the students.
With the main roles cast, the only character left was the mastermind behind the blackout on Dinosaur Island—a fat man who was greedy for money.
There were plenty of fat people in America, but none within SHIELD... Daisy had to continue searching outside.
Daisy arranged to meet Pepper Potts and asked for help in introducing Stark's bodyguard, Happy Hogan—the fat man they needed.
Happy interpreted what it meant that a driver who does not want to be a director is not a good bodyguard. He had filmed a few movies for his own amusement, but he is very amateur...
Daisy had only planned to meet Pepper in the restaurant, but to her surprise, not only did Happy come, but Tony Stark himself was also brought along.
"Let me see your script," Stark said without ceremony, sitting down and reaching out his hand.
Daisy glanced at Pepper, who gave her an apologetic look. Since it wasn't classified information, Stark wouldn't probably use her script to film Jurassic Park, right? Suppressing her displeasure, Daisy handed it over.
As a top scholar of the time, Tony Stark's reading speed was incredibly fast. Descriptions fell short; he could read ten lines at a glance. Considering the simplicity of the script, he quickly went through it.
He wanted to say it was garbage, but Stark hesitated a bit due to Daisy's beauty. "It's passable, but it's just a simple cloning of dinosaurs. If you give me the dinosaur genes, I can do it myself. No maybe even without them, I might be able to extract some from bird genes..."
He spoke casually, and Daisy quickly interrupted, "Our movie is meant to warn people, to respect life, not to show off your skills!"
She was afraid that her movie would turn Iron Man into a Dinosaur Man or something, which would be ridiculous.
Stark thought through the process again. There were indeed many difficulties, and he, being a mechanical engineering expert, had little experience with biological genetics. He stopped his wild thoughts and handed the script to his fat bodyguard, Happy Hogan.
Happy reading speed wasn't as fast as Stark's; he looked it over for about ten minutes.
"Is this role really suitable for me?" he asked Stark and Daisy.
Daisy wanted to say there were many fat people, but fat people whom she could trust were few. She talked nonsense on everything from acting skills to experience and personal values, and even proposed inviting him as an assistant director.
While she was convincing the fat man to take part, Pepper, having read the script, had a new idea. Excitement filled her eyes as she said, "Miss Johnson, you are truly talented. This script, in my opinion, has great commercial value. If it's well-made, it will create a sensation. Do you need funding for the production?"
