Chapter 11 - Chance Encounter

=============

Frank's matter is already in the past, at least it has no connection with her anymore.

She didn't know that from her "car wash" to the final visit, Frank had been silently observing her all along.

He carefully observed everything from age, appearance, and height, to the way she did things.

After she walked away, Frank made a phone call.

On the other end was a deep voice, "Old buddy, I've heard about your situation. I'm sorry, there were no signs beforehand. Whatever you need, just let me know."

Frank remained expressionless. After a long time, in a hoarse voice, he said, "Don't bother about my affairs."

His words carried multiple meanings, rejecting the other person's help and not wanting official interference.

The person on the other end understood him, "Alright, I promise you."

Both sides fell into silence. Just as the other person was about to hang up, Frank said again, "Nick, I saw a woman who fits the criteria for your deputy."

"A candidate has already been found." The other person firmly rejected him.

"I'm giving you the information, whether you use it is up to you." Frank quickly provided a bunch of identity information, then hung up the phone, looked at the white clouds, and thought of his family's infinite sadness in his heart...

Daisy didn't know that her information had been noted by someone with intentions. Being poor, she didn't know where to go and could only go back to school.

However, after staying for ten minutes, she ran out again.

She naturally clashed with these white girls, and while she could control herself before, now with her abilities, she could easily handle the Russian gang, let alone a few girls!

Daisy's daily attire included cropped pants, short socks, canvas shoes, revealing an ankle. It not only made her legs look long but also added a touch of slimness. Ten years later, everyone on the street dressed like this, both men and women, and she found it normal.

But in the eyes of those white girls, she appeared very different. They are still in the era of big baggy pants, hip-hop style, long socks, and thick-soled shoes.

Some white girl thought her outfit didn't comply with school rules and wanted to talk to her about "rules."

Daisy gave a loud "slap" and knocked her down with three punches and two kicks, relying on her strong physical fitness. With her bag on her back, she walked away.

Strolling on the street, she checked her wallet again. Did she really have to find a job?

Facing the bustling streets of Manhattan, watching the busy roads, she momentarily didn't know where to go.

She headed towards the convenience store where Angela worked. Daisy had no psychological burden of being poor and was planning to treat her friend to lunch and enjoy a good meal.

Just passing a street corner, she saw four women running out of a Japanese restaurant like crazy, with more men behind them holding knives and sticks, chasing after.

Daisy could only understand a few words, like "baka" or something, as for the rest of the Japanese, it was like hieroglyphics to her.

As luck would have it, her position was right in the path of the running group of women.

The leading escaping woman desperately gestured to her, urging her to run away.

The Japanese people behind were yelling.

From the Hand? Her first reaction was the Hand, but it didn't seem like it. The Japanese men didn't look like they had undergone rigorous training. Their steps were unsteady, breathing irregular, and they seemed a bit like they had been drained by alcohol and debauchery.

The leading escaping woman's clothes were disheveled, her face still pretty, but there was a slap mark on her face, blood at the corner of her mouth. Nevertheless, she persisted in running outward, and the remaining women were also in various states of embarrasment.

"Baka!" A guy with a crew cut grabbed the last woman by her hair, violently pulled her down, and raised the baseball bat in his hand to strike.

Daisy couldn't just watch the excitement. She rushed forward, kicked the crew-cut guy away, and picked up his baseball bat. She didn't have much combat skill, but with her enhanced physical abilities, dealing with a few Japanese guys was easy.

With a combination of smashing and kicking, the Japanese men were no match. They lay scattered on the ground.

"Quick, run!" Seeing more people about to come out, Daisy heard the sound of bullets being loaded. She urgently called the remaining women to run with her.

As a native of Hell's Kitchen, she was familiar with the terrain here. Leading the Japanese women through twists and turns, they evaded their pursuers, finally stopping when they believed it was safe.

"It's safe for now." She could run non-stop in the underground city all day, and for her, this level of physical activity wasn't even considered a warm-up. But for the Japanese women, it was like high-intensity exercise.

The women hugged each other, still finding it hard to believe that they had been saved.

The leader among the women looked at Daisy with a hint of admiration in her eyes. She stuttered a thank you in English and bowed with each sentence.

Daisy could only nod and return the courtesy. The woman's English wasn't great, but through a combination of words and gestures, Daisy finally understood the whole story.

It had to be said that the Japanese could be ruthless to outsiders, and they were just as cruel to their own people. A few university students dreaming of the American dream were deceived into coming here, only to find out they had gotten involved in something they couldn't handle.

Seeing the danger, they tried to escape.

However, just as they reached the gate, they were discovered. Some of them struggled to move the obstacles at the entrance, and by the time they ran out, there were already pursuers behind them. If Daisy hadn't been there today, they would have been captured and taken back. And they wouldn't have been able to escape after being beaten so hard, with more tragedy yet to come...

Daisy curiously asked the leading woman, "You said your name is Maki? Maki Matsumoto?"

"Yes, I am ashamed to say my old name. I now go by this name. Please take care of me." Maki Matsumoto bowed again.

"What major are you studying? Have you graduated?"

"I study law."

Daisy was pleasantly surprised. This person could be considered pretty famous in the future.

Maki Matsumoto, a lawyer, someone not to be messed with—three points all fitting the description. If it weren't for Daisy today, she might have witnessed the ruthless killing of Kingpin's henchman Bullseye one day in the future. From then on, she would have become crazily infatuated with Bullseye, calling herself Lady Bullseye.

Although not on the level of Quake's status, she was still a second-tier character.

However, without that experience now, whether she would turn into a cold-blooded killer was still a big question mark.

Daisy escorted the group to the Japanese embassy. As for what happened next—whether they returned to Japan or not—had nothing to do with her.

The remaining three Japanese women bowed and thanked her, each leaving their addresses, hoping that if she ever went to Japan, she could give them a chance to express their gratitude.

Only Maki Matsumoto remained in place bowing deeply to Daisy.

"Is there something?" Daisy was afraid that she might be asked for money, which would be too embarrassing.

"Miss Johnson, I am willing to stay and serve you as your retainer!" Her voice was loud, and the Japanese women who hadn't gone far and the consul all showed expressions that said, 'I knew it.'

Daisy almost spat out a mouthful of blood. What era was it that she has a retainer?

She waved her hands frantically, "I'm just an ordinary person, there's nothing worthy if my service. You should follow Mr. Consul's arrangements and return to your country. Your parents are probably worried about you."

Maki Matsumoto bowed again, "I am a disgrace to my family, a fool with no insight, just a daydreamer. Please, take me in!"

Another ninety-degree bow, and she didn't get up.
