Crossing the threshold of the mouth of the cave, Liam felt the damp air around him becoming chilled. A semi-small opening laid directly after entering and taking advantage of the space Liam lowered and dropped the woman off his shoulder.
With a thud the woman hit the ground with a sharp gasp of air. Dragging her by her arms he pulled the woman against the rock wall before crouching in front of her.
"You will tell me what you know." Liam demanded.
"I need reasons and answers" He continued explaining.
"Okay, Okay I will explain"
"My name is Lurue, my former companion was Tethyr"
"Me and Tethyr have known each other since the war first began some three years ago."
"Cut it short tell me how you knew of the outpost and what happened to the others" Liam requested
"Me and Tethyr fled to the outpost after hearing rumors of it being a sanctuary against the war made to protect the citizens of Rasgha"
"Tethyr is a noble of Rasgha, his father was the grand duke of the house of Siamorphe"
"How did the house of Siamorphe get all the way over here" Liam wondered
"Tethyr was a bastard child from a mistress and quickly disowned and left to the streets to avoid outrage of the main wife"
"Left on his own he had to survive and with his natural talent as a hunter he joined the mercenary group I was apart of"
"I swear on my life by the time we made it to the outpost everyone was gone or dead, we never killed anyone in the outpost" pleading and feverishly going losing her story she explained to Liam her version of what happened.
Listening to her as she avoids telling him the full story using half-truths Liam kept a calm face. Piecing together what he could, Liam deduced the most probable reason they fled was that they probably deserted the band of mercenaries once the Legion started gaining ground inside of the borders of Rasgha.
"So why did you and your said companion act like guards?" cutting her off Liam continued…
"Can you answer me, Miss Lurue? In fact did you know that impersonating a Soldier of the nation is punishable by death?"
Watching realization wash over her face and a lump get stuck in her throat Liam inwardly smirked at catching her in a trap. Watching her eyes dart back to his sword laying on the ground her face visually became more gaunt.
"Are you goi—" Before Liam could pressure her to answer quicker he heard a sound from deeper in the cave. Hobbling over to grab up his sword he told Lurue to be quiet and listen to him.
As the noises echoed closer and closer to their location Liam moved to hide from view. Standing in the corner in the cave Liam's dark silhouette could be seen waiting. Waiting in silence, red eyes could be seen intensifying as the flame was ready to consume its next prey.
