Sometimes the price needed for our expectations to come to pass was more than the expectation itself. Still, when fate is set down that road, we are bound to endure sacrifices that cost more than we could ever have paid.
"What about you Dylan? Which of your wish was answered?" Curtis asked curiously.
"I don't dwell on wishes, it's childish" the young man answered almost immediately in a complacent tone. He had answered the questions without even opening his eyes, that showed how languid he had been when those words left his mouth.
Faced with their friends smugness, they could only roll their eyes and feel green in their heart. That was the cost of wanting to compare hardship with someone who had lived the life of a king. Why hardship could he ever give? Even still they did not fully accept the mature persona he was putting up, exactly because they knew it was just a front.
