Emory ran, leaving behind the lifeless remains of the fallen that soon began dissipating into the air. He had to find the missing fallen, who knows what havoc it could be wrecking right now.
"Damn it, how did I not notice" Emory muttered to himself as he began dashing towards the ferris wheel where he encountered the fallen angels initially, breezing past the people who had come to relax in the park and leaving them to wonder what was it that was moving that fast?!
Emory shortly arrived at the ferris wheel, as he began intensely scanning the surroundings for the missing creature. It made matters worse that apparently the fallen could not be seen by mundane eyes, so he could not even ask around to see if anyone had seen it.
"I guess I'll have to search the park…damn" Emory said, dropping his shoulder as he sighed tiredly
Emory released his aether in hopes to attract the stray fallen as he began combing the park with incredible speed while also trying his best not to run into Athena, occasionally stopping to catch his breath.
After a few minutes Emory had ran through most of the park, he was beginning to losing stamina after constantly expelling his aether and running around the park. He decided to take a break so as to try and replenish his aether and resume his search for the fallen.
"How far could the bastard have gone in that short period" Emory said kicking back his head tiredly as he sat and rested his back on a tree "Maybe it went back to whatever abyss it came from…I hope" he continued, partiality closing his eyes
"So this where you are Em" Athena said leaning down towards Emory, her hands behind her back as she stared at him
"A-Athena? What are you doing here?" Emory asked. Athena was the last person he wanted to see at the moment, how was he to explain to her why he was sitting tiredly next to a tree, in a area of the park far from where he left her to go "take care of something"
"Looking for you? And just what is it you had to take care of that put you in such a state" she asked
"Nothing much you know, I was just fighting a few fallen angels who cross the barriers of space and time to kill and destroy, light work" Emory thought to himself sarcastically "Ahem, i was just…I got lost, it's a big park you know and it's my first time here" Emory said, drumming his fingers on his lap as he stood up
"It's your first time here? Really?!" Athena asked, staring up at Emory intently
"Yeah it really is" Emory answered
"Since it's your first time here, why don't we try different rides from the amusement parks and then try the food stands too and maybe have a picnic right here too, it'll be fun!" Athena rambled on, her dark eyes gleaming with excitement
"Hold on, hold on. One at a time, it truly sounds fun but maybe another day, right now we have a rollercoaster ride, you've got the ticket right?" Emory said hastily.
Emory had no time to waste currently, the fallen was still on the loose. He had to find a way to ditch Athena and find the fallen and end the whole charade as he was getting tired and frustrated.
"Yes i do, since you haven't been to the park before, maybe the rollercoaster isn't the best thing to start with" Athena said, staring at the tickets she had in hand
"It's fine, it's just a park ride. I've read about them" Emory said
"Read about them? You really are…different" Athena said
Emory shrugged,"But I really need to go take care of something now, you go ahead" Emory said
Athena furrowed her brows and folded her arms, her eyes set intently against Emory's "What is it you need to take care of this time too?" She asked
"It's personal" Emory replied vaguely, already turning to leave
But Athena wasn't having it. "I'm not letting you run off like that. Whatever it is, I'm coming with you." She said as she latched on to his arm with a surprisingly firm grip.
Emory sighed inwardly, realizing his attempts to ditch Athena were futile, she was not going to let him out of her sight or grasp,"Fine, but let's make it quick."
As they hurried through the park, Emory's frustration grew. Despite his efforts in expelling his aether and scanning the area, there was still no sign of the fallen. He was running out of time, and Athena's presence was only making things more complicated.
And after some minutes, the pair had arrived at the rollercoaster, a sign beside the entrance spelled out the name of the ride; "The big drop".
"We are here, are you excited? I know I am!" Athena said excitedly
"You go on ahead, i'll wait here" Emory said plainly, as his eyes traced around in search of the fallen.
"We are not going to do that now? You are here already why not just get on the ride, besides I go two tickets for a reason" Athena said assertively
"I'm sorry Athena, but right now I can't go with you, maybe another time" Emory insisted
"Ughh, Really? Okay then, if you don't do the ride with me I won't give you your money as promised but if you do, I'll double it" Athena said, as she furrowed her brows in frustration
This wasn't even a choice to Emory, finding the fallen and stopping it takes precedence over whatever amount Athena was offering to pay him. Emory turned slightly and was about to walk away when he noticed something about the rollercoaster, he noticed the peak of the ride was very high.
"If I could get that high, it could be a vantage point and I would be able see the entirety of the park and hopefully and finally find that slippery bastard" Emory mused "Fine i'll ride with you, don't double the money" Emory said to Athena
Emory and Athena boarded the ride after getting their tickets checked. After getting strapped into the rollercoaster's car and inspected by the ride's attendant, they took off, twisting, turning and looping at high speed. Emory soon found himself enjoying the ride, it was something he wasn't privileged to do in the past, due to his weak body. After awhile they began approaching the peak of the rollercoaster and Emory focused, not wanting to miss the few seconds of opportunity he had to find the fallen
He finally got to the top and the rollercoaster car stopped at the peak albeit for a few seconds, but those seconds were enough for Emory to scan around the park as accurately as he could, but still there was no fallen in sight.
"What's that?" Emory said to himself, spotting a huge figure near a food stand. Emory became orey-eyed as he realized it was the fallen, it stood there towering over a woman and her baby in a stroller.
Emory's brows scrunched together in rage, he gritted his teeth hoping the ride would at that very instant but alas, he was trapped and all he could do was wait till he got off before chasing after the fallen.
The ride screeched to a stop and as soon as he got off, Emory sprinted towards the direction of the fallen, leaving Athena behind
"Em, wait! Where are you going?" Athena called out, her voice filled with concern.
"I... uh... I need to use the restroom!" Emory yelled back, not stopping for a moment.
As the fallen came within sight, Emory's frustration and fatigue changed into anger that boiled over, the fallen was reaching for the baby within the stroller, the mother of the child faced the food vendor oblivious to the danger she and her child were in.
"Hey!! Move out of the way!" Emory yelled at the woman, but he was not heard as she was too engrossed in her conversation with the vendor.
With the distance between Emory and the mother and child, he would not make it in time to stop the fallen from getting a hold of the baby and doing God knows what with it. He had to do something, but what? There was no metal rod lying round to help him now.
Emory desperately reached his hand out in the direction of the stroller screaming "No!" Desperately hoping the fallen would miraculously stop its action, but only if it were as easy as that. In that split second Emory's aether surged powerfully, causing his eyes a d markings to glow.
Not knowing what else to do, Emory instinctively concentrated his aether on his fist while simultaneously expelling it outwards, causing a blast of concentrated aether to fly at an incredible speed towards the fallen, blowing safely by the mother and her baby. The blast hit the fallen directly, causing it to fly back several meters into a bush.
Emory chased after the fallen, he rushed angrily at the fallen who was still disorientated from the aether blast. He lands a rage filled punch on the fallen, the fallen forcefully landed face first on the floor. Emory immediately stepped on the back of the fallen, grabbed the fallen by its arms.
"Going after babies now?, I know you can't think but still I can't contain my rage knowing you were about to strip a mother of her child" Emory said, his words calm yet filled with cold rage
And with a grunt, Emory began pulling on the arms of the fallen, and soon the sounds of bones breaking, ligaments tearing and muscle being ripped apart resounded, and with one final grunt Emory ripped off the arms of the fallen.
"Touch some babies now would you?" Emory said icily
The fallen shrieked at the loss of its limbs, even though it had no mouth.
"Shut up" Emory said as he took a hold of the fallen's head and bashed it into the grass, over and over and over and over again, until he could not feel any resistance.
Emory stood over the fallen with bloodstained hands, watching as the fallen's lifeless body dissipated into the air.
