The sun's rays struggled to pierce the dense canopy as Rakahn moved quickly with his team of scouts. Twilight was approaching, and the thought of fighting creatures lurking in the night shadows wasn't exactly thrilling. They had to maintain a steady pace.
They were six in total, with Rakahn leading, winding along a canal that served as their guide through the impenetrable forest. Straying from this path would have meant facing the thick mass of trees—a move that could slow their progress drastically.
They kept up the pace until Rakahn, aware of his companions' limits, decided to call for a break. While they were all trained, they didn't share his level of endurance.
Yet, despite the apparent calm of this pause, Rakahn was simmering internally. An underlying irritation prickled at him, like an itch he couldn't scratch.
"Kido could have handled this, right? He's the strongest, after all," he muttered through clenched teeth.
