Their vision was suddenly obscured. Such a shift could have triggered panic, but to their surprise, they all remained strangely calm. Without hesitation, they kept moving forward, straight into the freezing darkness.
There was no light at the end of the path. Normally, even the faintest light would have given them something to aim for, a goal to reach. But here, everything was black, oppressive. Only the sound of their footsteps echoed in the heavy silence.
Cliff hesitated. This darkness awakened old memories within him, memories he would have rather forgotten. Terrifying memories he had never dared share with anyone.
