Kido remained silent, his thoughts swirling in his mind. Every inch of his skin felt on fire, every breath painful. An all-consuming shame overwhelmed him as he remembered attacking his comrades, driven by an uncontrollable thirst for blood.
He fixed his gaze on Rakahn. "Where is the master? How could I have let myself be carried away like that?"
Rakahn shrugged, his eyes never leaving the piece of meat he was chewing. "No idea," he replied indifferently.
Kido frowned, anxious. Why had the master left him in this state?
Struggling with great difficulty, Kido rose, each movement a torment. He approached Rakahn, who was sitting near the fire, and watched as he held a glowing essence stone.
Rakahn, absorbed in the stone, did not notice him. Kido reached out towards the stone, but Rakahn pulled it away. "No," he said. "This stone is for me. Scout the area while I absorb it."
