Chapter 10 - Don't eat Rat Possums...

[Rat Possum, lvl 2]

Keeping an eye on the rat possum as she slowly sneaked closer to it, Scaly got close enough as she directly launched a water spear towards the still unsuspecting rat possum.

Whoosh~

Squeak?

Giving off a confused rat like squeaking sound, the rat possum had no time to react as the water spear conjured by Scaly directly pierced through its body soft furry body.

SQUEAK!

Letting out on last painful squeak before losing its voice due to blood clogging up its lungs, it barely turned around to look towards Scaly filled with disbelief at how she had just suddenly appeared out of the blue…

[Gained 15 Exp]

"…"

Watching as the rat possum fell into a pool of its own blood while laying down on the same stone that it was relaxing on just a moment earlier, Scaly suddenly felt bad about killing the rat possum.

Rumble~

But that feeling was instantly thrown aside the moment her hunger came back, and the rat possum suddenly appeared to look like a delicious meal found in a five-star restaurant…

Swish~

Without thinking anymore about the death of the rat possum, Scaly's small feet skittered across the ground before arriving directly in front of the dead body of the rat possum.

Munch~

Just like that, Scaly's small lizard mouth bit down on the dead body of the rat possum and before long, the entire rat possum had completely disappeared from the cave tunnel. Leaving behind only a satisfied small lizard lazily making her way back to her new home located in a small crevice in one of the many cave tunnels that made up the second floor of the dungeon.

After an unknown amount of time, Scaly woke up and looked around herself with a confused expression plastered all over her small lizard face.

How long did I sleep for?

Thinking about this, Scaly soon realized she had no idea how she had even gotten back to her new home in the first place! Most of her memory from after eating the rat possum had become rather hazy for some reason…

All she remembered was that she had encountered a rat possum, killed a rat possum, and returned to rest after the large, delicious meal…

Ah…

Why did she seem to remember encountering a group of humans? And why did she save them from a group of slimes…?

Just what in the world happened to me after eating that rat possum?

Hopefully the encounter with those humans won't lead to anything troublesome… At the very least, I can't even remember how they looked like…

Thinking of this to herself as a wry smile slowly made its way onto her small scaly lizard face, Scaly decided to bring up her status to see if there was anything new that could help her understand just what had happened to her.

Name: Scaly

Race: Ancient Water Lizard

Level: 2/15, 7%

STR: 12 |VIT: 26 | DEX: 12 | M: 29

Skills: [Dragon Bloodline lvl 2], [Flight lvl 1], [Water Magic lvl 6], [Poison Resistance lvl 1]

"…"

Looking over her status, Scaly instantly comprehended what had happened to her… Apparently, she had been poisoned at some point and thinking back to what little she could remember, Scaly highly suspected that it had something to do with the rat possum she had just eaten before her memories became all foggy.

Ok, information noted! Rat possum is bad to eat! At least she had gained a new skill…

Thinking on the positive side of what happened, Scaly quickly inspected her new skill and was met with a not so kind description…

[Poison Resistance lvl 1]: Normally, this skill is acquired through combat with poisonous monsters or through surviving a poisoning attempt at one's life… But you managed to gain this skill through eating the poisonous flesh of a rat possum and by consuming the flesh of one such monster, you managed to increase your resistance to poison… You can now freely consume all the rat possums you desire without worrying about being poisoned again!

Why did it feel like the description was personally made for her…?

[Poison Resistance lvl 1]: You have an increased resistance to poison.

"…"

Dismissing the description before pulling it up again, Scaly could not help but narrow her small pair of reptilian eyes as she clearly realized that the description had changed!

Was someone messing with her…?

Not knowing who would be able to do such a thing, Scaly could not help thinking of the winged human she had seen before reincarnating… Was he perhaps on a break or something from managing reincarnation stuff and decided to mess with her…?

"Yeah, I swear! We saw the weird blue lizard hide just over here!"

Just as Scaly was about to complain about the description she had read earlier, the sound of footsteps echoed out from the tunnel just outside her small home as the voices of humans talking with each other could soon be heard.

Did the humans she had saved during her hazy and poisoned state come back to thank-

"I hope you are speaking the truth… Blue lizard scales are exceptionally rare on the market at the moment! Even with its small size, we should be able to earn a lot from it! Especially so if the scales are as beautiful as you told me…"

"Haha, no need to worry boss! The blue scales of that small lizard are by far the most beautiful scales I have ever witnessed in my life! And even those scale related necklaces, rings and bracelets found in the auction house or jewelry shop are nowhere near as pretty!"

"I really hope what you say is true…"

As the conversation of two humans echoed out, Scaly felt her face slowly grow dark…

She had very clearly saved them before she fell asleep, yet now they are returning to turn her into different scale ornaments!?

Swish~

There was no way she would ever stay behind and be turned into some kind of scale related necklace! Before the group of humans arrived at her short-lived new home, Scaly dashed out of the crevice in the cave wall before hiding behind the corner leading into a nearby cave tunnel.

With an escape path secured, Scaly watched expectantly towards the direction of the human voices, still curious about the strength of the humans that had come to catch her…
