Whoosh~
Moving through the tunnel of the second floor of the dungeon, Scaly soon found a small hole in one of the cave walls and promptly decided to enter. Soon finding herself inside a small space. Luckily there was more than enough space for her to stay, as her current lizard body was tiny.
Rustle~
Making herself at home in the small space located in the wall between two different tunnels, Scaly brought up the interface from earlier.
[Evolution available, choose evolution now?]: [Y/N]
Yes!
Screaming loudly in her mind, Scaly watched the interface in front of her disappear before a new interface appeared in its place.
✧ Evolutions Available ✧
[Big Lizard]
[Requirement, None]
[Description: A lizard that is bigger than average lizards. Nothing special other than its size and increased strength. One of the most common evolutions among lizards]
[Magic Lizard]
[Requirement: Magic 10 or above]
[Description: A lizard that can use magic. Can normally be found around areas with a high magic density.]
[Water Lizard]
[Requirement: Water Magic level 1 or above]
[Description: Water Lizards are among the rarer species of lizard, having not only the ability to cast magic, but also the ability to stay underwater for an extended period of time without needing to resurface from time to time. They can normally be found in areas with lots of water, but are reclusive in nature, spending most of their time hiding in the water. In turn making them one of the hardest monsters among the lower levels to find.]
Reading through the first three evolutions, Scaly could not help but focus on the last one, Water Lizard, it really reminded her of the giant earth lizard that she had seen the humans kill off a few days ago.
Perhaps the next evolution after becoming a Water Lizard would be to become a Giant Water Lizard?
Did this not mean that she would still be an entire evolution behind the giant earth lizard even after she had evolved!?
Rustle~
Thinking about this, Scaly could not help shifting a bit uncomfortably, she was still way too weak compared to the giant earth lizard and the humans.
There is still one more evolution left…
Feeling herself calm down again, Scaly turned to look towards the fourth and last evolution on the list in front of her. Going by how it had been shown until now, the further down the list, the stronger the evolution was. At least she hoped her interpretation of the list on the interface in front of her was correct…
[Ancient Water Lizard]
[Requirement: Water Magic lvl 5 or above, Dragon Bloodline lvl 1 or above]
[Description: It's said that in the ancient past when the world was still young and the environment full of magic, a lizard evolved into the first dragon. The Ancient Water Lizard is said to be the progenitor of the first water dragon and is known to have long since gone extinct after the magic density of the world decreased. The other ancient lizard suffered the same fate, with the ancient lizard species going completely extinct.]
Swish~ Swish~
Not noticing the fact that her tail had begun swaying excitedly upon reading through the description, Scaly could not help but feel a wave of excitement wash over her.
This was what she wanted! Her first step towards becoming a dragon would be to become an Ancient Water Lizard!
[Do you want to evolve into an Ancient Water Lizard?]: [Y/N]
YES!!!
Not thinking about the other three evolutions, Scaly chose the Ancient Water Lizard evolution.
Bzzt~
Wha-!?
A weird blue spark suddenly appeared and soon engulfed her entire body, as a wave of pain suddenly began to spread through her entire body. Instantly knocking her unconscious, as she did not even have time to react before the sweet embrace of darkness spared her from having to be conscious and experience the soul tearing pain that was currently wrecking through her entire body. Slowly changing it from inside out.
…
Rustle~
Hm?
Waking up after sleeping for what felt like days, Scaly opened her still closed eyes and looked around the small space that she had chosen to evolve in.
The overall size of the space did not seem to have changed in the slightest since she evolved… Did her evolution perhaps not increase her size?
Thinking about this, Scaly was suddenly reminded about the fact that she had just gone through her first evolution!
Rustle~
Not able to remain laying on the ground for any long, Scaly got up and sneaked out of the small space she had hidden inside during her evolution before using the light of the crystals covering the surrounding cave walls to look at her own body reflection in a nearby puddle of water on the cave floor.
T-this is me?!
Looking down at the beautiful azure blue lizard reflected in the small puddle of water, Scaly could not help but be mesmerized by how beautiful her new form looked.
Under the light from the crystal above, it almost seemed like her entire body was sparkling. Letting everyone around know just how unique she wa-
How will I hide in the future like this?!
Discovering a problem with her new look immediately, Scaly could not help but exclaim internally filled with sorrow.
All her attacks so far had been based on the fact that she could sneak up on her enemy and attack them when they were unprepared!
Now that she had evolved, she would be able to perfectly hide in water, but she was currently not anywhere near water and was instead inside of a dungeon on a floor that was in the shape of an underground cave…
Not really the best place for her given that she had now become an Ancient Water Lizard…
Shaking her small head upon thinking about this, Scaly decided to leave aside the problem of how she was going to hunt from now on for another time.
Hunting was future Scaly's problem! For now, she wanted to check her own status after her evolution and see just how far she had advanced!
Swish~
Making her way back into the small safe space inside the wall of the tunnel, Scaly excitedly brought up her status.
