After creating the first story, Ei realized that They were struggling to differentiate between all the things he had invented and decided to use Imagination to create the concept of Name.
"I am Name, the one who differentiates everything" Name said. "You who are my creator, what do you want?"
"Please name this story I just created, I feel like it's my masterpiece, the most perfect story I will ever create, so I would like it to have a name which reflects its importance" Ei said.
"Well, it will therefore be called the Primary World, the first of the worlds, which will forever remain incomparable and unequaled" Name said. "But, creator, you too need a name"
"Really ?" Ei wondered. "And what name could suit me?"
"Ei" replied Name. "A simple but supreme word, which will designate your status as the first being"
"Well, in that case, Ei it is, thank you for your hard work, Name. How can I thank you?"
"No need to thank me, I only did what I exist for" Name said before going away to name more things.
As he walked away, Ei thought about something else:
'Hmm, Name's work definitely deserves to be rewarded but he doesn't seem to want to receive anything, what should I do?'
They pondered this question briefly before coming to a conclusion: something fundamental was needed, something that would be the basis of all sincere thanks.
Thus, Ei created the concept of Gratitude.
"I am Gratitude" the concept presented itself. "I am the will of each being to reward their benefactors. I exist in every being capable of thinking about others, but as my creator, you can be excluded if you wish. Do you still want to welcome me in your being, Ei?"
"Yes, I want to be able to feel Gratitude towards Name" Ei replied.
"Are you sure ?" Gratitude asked. "It is true that welcoming me into your heart will allow you to repay Name, but it'll come with a price: just as every good action leads to a reaction, every wrong action will also result in one. By accepting Gratitude in your heart, you also accept Resentment in you, are you sure of your choice?"
"Yes" Ei replied without hesitation, categorically.
Gratitude therefore entered Ei's heart, as did Rancor, the concept that would eventually lead them to tragedy.
