Darkness is creeping into the maze as the sunlight drowns in the horizon. Soza finally lessens her pace and falls into a slow trot. This gives me an opportunity to check back over my shoulder on the students behind us.
Aki and his crew are flawless, not even breaking a sweat. There are maybe a hundred students left behind us. All tattered and worn. Mauled and beaten by ghouls. Burned and severed by traps within this gods damned maze.
Soza's hair, once a fiery beacon guiding our way, now flickers dimly in the fading light. She glances back at me, her eyes reflecting a mixture of exhaustion and determination. I nod, silently acknowledging her efforts as she leads us through this labyrinthine trial.
