Amy listened in as she watched the adults argue. Literally, no one is being professional right now. There are too many differences between their respective disciplines and their approach, so she decides to look around herself.
She heard Rufus's explanation and sighed in relief to know that they are getting it faster than she thought. The farther away from the mainland she goes, the longer her letters take to get there so she is glad that it made it though she is too late to save Sabina. Her legs are not looking too great. Even if the bones were properly put together and gets physical therapy, she will have trouble walking let alone run again.
She sighed deeply than intended. This is far too cruel, but she is not discouraged. By the time that Viola wakes up, she will send someone to help with Sabina's legs as soon as she returns home. Magic may be able to heal but a downside to it is that restoration is almost impossible. She must be feeling distraught. Hopefully, she will persevere until she could receive help. She needs surgery for this, and it will be hard work.
Amy looked around and Lisa followed behind her.
"Watcha doin?" she asks curiously.
"Trying to see if there are any hidden entrances."
"Ooh, I can help with that." She licked her finger, put it up to the air and waited for what seems to be a long time. She heads to a crossroads and Amy followed her until they hit a dead end, and she grabbed a hammer and gently tapped the wall. The sound is compacted.
"This place has no wind. If I were to place treasure, it would be somewhere it would be well hidden."
Lisa spit on her hands and with a sudden surge of magic, she yelled, "Seismos!" and broke through the wall showing more wall and she kept going yelling the same spell. Amy realized that she is making a shortcut then she stopped after her spell isn't working.
"What's wrong?" Amy asks.
"I can't use my smash magic." Lisa says in distraught.
Smash Magic? Amy thought distastefully and watch as she attempts to conjure her own magic on the wall but failed. Curious, she decides to yell out the word to bring it out, "Diatrisi!" Nothing.
Then she decided to try and purify the wall, and it disappeared, scaring Lisa.
Ah, it makes sense why those guys were arguing now. They were trying to find a solution to this. This place is clearly not meant for ordinary humans and attempts on using magic as a means is impossible. Only Ability users can come through here. Amy could also feel something strange about this place. She then kept going as she purifies the wall.
"You're an ability user?" she said in disbelief.
Amy looked at Lisa, her expression seems daunting before turning to the wall. "Are you scared of me?"
"Not of you but your kind." she response reluctantly.
Amy abruptly stops to turn around. "What do you mean, 'my kind'?" she implores. She isn't offended but curious.
"I met many who have powers not entirely linked to the world's law of magic. Those I've seen are always noble folk. People are always brownnosing, entitled and always look down on the common folk. They think of themselves as gods. There was one who demanded money and compensation for the plague that took me mum."
"Are you originally from Getel?"
"Yes," she answered.
"That makes sense." she said, I know what you mean.
"Not all ability users are like the people you describe. All the ability users my age go to the same school as me."
"How many are there?" she asks nervously.
"There are a lot in Solin. There are over a hundred in the kingdom, and they all make up the nobility. Hekaton has the far least number of ability users. They tried to kidnap me months ago." she shook her head, "Didn't work."
Lisa looks disgusted to hear that. "So, they are not special after all."
"Yeah, you're right. They're not." she agreed then whispered. "The real special ones are the ones with the ability to shake the world to its knees."
Lisa looks shocked to hear that and opened her mouth but sputtered a bit as she struggled to find the words.
"Not me. No!" she answered with a sheepish smile. "My powers are far too weak to do that, but they do exist. They are just biding their time as they grow stronger."
There are a couple other than Leon, Rufus and Aron who fit the criteria, but they were all killed or had the discipline not to. Not every ability user is born in nobility but could rise in ranks and become one. The ability users who are not in the noble class in the story choose not to or are expelled for certain reasons. Despite the strength, for Leon, rather than self-restraint, he feels no need to do so. But if he desires to, he could destroy the whole world. Rufus is probably powerful enough, but it would take more effort. Aron didn't even know he had an ability this powerful, but in the short time that he cultivated it once it emerged, it had already surpassed Violet.
"What exactly is your power?" she asked.
"In a general sense, I erase things. As long as they exist, I can erase them. For example, you complained the other day that you get mosquito bites but I don't. It's because of this power. I can use it subconsciously around my body so if anything with no magic tries to harm me, it gets erased."
Lisa is intrigued now, "So can you erase the bites?"
Amy looked at Lisa's arm, covered in it then shook her head. "I can't. It's your body's reaction to it. I can erase any diseases that you might contract from it though. And no, I can't erase the inflammation or the itching otherwise I risk erasing you from existence." she said.
Lisa then stopped talking as Amy uses her ability on the wall. Lisa is right. The powers she got doesn't follow the rules of magic. It uses magic as a source of power, but it doesn't get inhibited by its rules without the special equipment and items.
After one final push, they see a chamber filled with old relics. Lisa scrunched her face with disappointment.
