After weeks of preparation, the day that every Team Sun member is looking forward to has finally arrived. Amy watched as the doors opened and she is floored with how the place looked. By sight, she could identify what magic is used to make this place so magnificent. The ballroom isn't really big, but an enlargement charm was placed to make it big enough to host an actual evening ball. There is also a marionette charm placed on mannequins that were borrowed from the storage room that act as an ensemble providing music. The food is obviously real but magic is used to make them since she could tell none of the nobles could make it by hand. The chandelier is quite beautiful to look at and the colors of the wall are bright orange with a fake starry sky illusion. Amy admits that she has not been to many parties, but this is definitely the most creative scenery she has ever seen in one.
Unfortunately, the one thing they lack is staff to take their cloaks or serve them drinks, but this is nothing that magic couldn't solve.
Amy looked at everyone, seeing them all dressed in beautiful formal wear. She saw that almost every girl brought a flower or a corsage but her. She has made herself quite busy with the spirit chase that she couldn't even think about anything else.
"You, okay?"
Amy stared at Viola, who is wearing a different dress than hers. Her expression is filled with excitement, but she also notices that Amy is tired and overwhelmed.
She had been extremely worried about Viola since she started puberty that she decided to have her checked out. One blood sample from Viola and thankfully, Boris confirmed that she doesn't have the strengthening variant of her purification power like she does, nor would her powers affect her life too much. It will take getting used to but at least it is treatable. So, even if Amy is out of the picture, Rufus will never be interested in her.
"I'm just shocked how well put together this is." Amy replied.
"Amy, would you give me the honor of having your first dance?" Viola said with her hand outstretched.
Amy grabbed her hand and the sisters joyfully danced on the dance floor, having fun. People watched and whisper among themselves and she knows why.
The Anthos sisters develop a bit of a reputation. It is rare for two people with the same power to exist at the same time, even more so that the ability itself is an extremely rare but famous power. It is ironically also common for twins to share the similarities when it comes to natural abilities, so they are quite the anomaly. Amy never expected this kind of attention. Then again, Violet's upbringing and power is kept secret while Aron didn't unlock his purification ability until he is much older. On the plus side, people still believe that Viola has the stronger power, and she intends to keep it that way for both their sakes. Because the likelihood of the birth of twins is usually genetic, stealing one of them is not a surprising move from the other countries. Getel tries to kidnap her last year and Hekaton requested to have one of them transfer there.
Amy looked around and see Sabina dancing energetically while Nathaniel danced with Melissa.
After the first song ended, Viola grabbed her sister's hand and led her to the snack bar where she ate a chocolate bonbon. Then one of the underclassmen approached them, "Miss Violet, would you lend me the honor of dancing with me?"
"Sure," she took the guy's hand and led to the dance floor.
Amy was approached by Rufus. Choosing not to make unnecessary drama, she took his hand the moment he extended it and head to the dance floor. Unlike how she acted with Viola on the dance floor, she maintained an image of stillness.
"Are you going to remain quiet? " Rufus asked.
Amy stared at his eyes and is immediately reminded of his manga variant when he was ousted. The false expression was dropped, and his true colors are revealed. It was enough to shook everyone including the readers. He is more admired than feared but that is because he isn't real. Now, he's standing in front of her, dancing with him.
"Is there something you wish to say?" she asked grimly.
"Leon told me about your letter about the Dead Man's Net. Do you intend to capture that spirit?"
"I want to prepare. It is not a well-known spell and Solin does not have many spiritualists who would get rid of it."
"Dead man's net is not only a powerful spell but it is in the dark magic category, and you know the risks. Besides, it is not guaranteed that it will work."
That is according to the Kingdom's perspective. People have investigated and have theories, and no one practices dark magic. But how could you catch the spirit otherwise?
Before she could answer that, almost immediately the doors opened loudly, catching everyone's attention. She is a sucker for dramatic entrances, but this situation is bad for a variety of reasons.
Prince Leon, dressed in formal attire, walked in looking smug.
Amy looked at Rufus, who also shared the same smug look. It seems he knew about this. She felt Rufus inadvertently squeezing her hand as they kept dancing. At least, he has the manners to not leave abruptly.
"Did you know he was coming?" She asked suspiciously.
"He's been hinting that he would come to the ball." Rufus admits with a smirk.
Her look turned flat as she knew that Leon had the ability to come to the Academy any time he wants even with the restrictions. In fact, she is surprised that he decides to come here now than sooner. "This isn't a good thing, you know. The Palace must be freaking out right now."
Rufus laughed a bit louder than she ever heard him, "Well, you're not wrong." he says mischievously.
Amy cannot hold her smile back now though she hides it poorly, "You two revel way too much in the chaos."
