"How are you feeling?" Boris asked.
"I feel much better now. No nightmares or hallucinations anymore. I am a bit surprised that they just stopped like this," She answered and sat up in bed as he examines her. Despite what happened, she has been getting dreamless nights, the best sleep she had for what seemed like forever.
"It has been over eight months since you've been diagnosed with Temporal disease. I think the effects are waning now. It shouldn't disappear immediately, but the symptoms should start becoming bearable."
"That's good to hear. It has been rough." She sighed. Sometimes these hallucinations and dreams are so unbearable, she could barely walk. "Did anyone keep an eye out for Colin?"
"Yeah, we kept a watch on him. He buried his comrades, and everyone held a funeral for them. The money and silk have been put to good use too. It seems that Ethan was truthful in his conversation."
Amy nodded as she took a sip of tea.
"I should also mention that Colin lost his memory due to the trauma, so we didn't feel the need to erase them."
"That is fortunate." Amy noted.
"As for Yerenis's body, we preserved it so that it wouldn't disintegrate. I will begin the autopsy and research once you make a full recovery." Boris concluded.
Amy nodded again then looked out the window, "I know that there are some vampires in this world that desire to be human or have equal rights, but I didn't think that there are some who hate their existence this much. I remember when reading the Story of Aron that some vampires risk walking during the day to interact with others."
"Not all species are the same, Amaryllis." He said, "Not all vampires enjoy consuming human blood. The often try to stray away the prejudice that vampires are blood-sucking killers. Some prefer to have their own livestock of cows, pigs or any animal they could find and go to the market to buy some. It just so happened that the vampire settlement you broke into is a human-eating kind."
"We might need to add animal breeding and husbandry to the list to teach monsters who are carnivores." Amy said.
"I agree. Even if I can change a vampire's weakness, doesn't mean I could just change their diet. The entire body would be heavily affected."
"Unlike a succubus, at least a vampire's biology is more similar to humans."
"Are you even ready for this? Permanent transmutation on a living being's nature with your construction ability is going to be extremely difficult, not to mention, dangerous."
"I am going to need to get some practice done before I use it. If we're going to do this, we have to prepare to get our hands dirty. Yerenis's body and cells would be perfect to use."
"We might need more." Boris said.
"But they are all ash now."
"Vampires are already hard to find, not to mention the kind that we have no trouble riding the world of."
"You got any better ideas?"
Boris thought for a moment. "Cloning,"
Amy raised a brow at him. "Cloning in this world is possible but not perfect. Only one perfect clone was ever created in this story but he died a short life."
"We only need them to live long enough to ensure that the experiment worked. Then if we have full confidence, we can just test it on a living subject."
"Great, we're gonna be using more dark magic. That is just what we need." Amy said sarcastically then changed the subject, "What about you, Alabaster? Are you doing alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." He answered.
Alabaster is busy with the production, paperwork and other things. Running a business is hard especially when it is growing more popular. He had an ambitious project on urbanizing a small village and spreading it to other towns for convenience. He has been so busy that she hasn't talked to him since she woke up.
"I thought you wanted to work on a plane. I didn't think you mean drones."
"I had access to your memories and saw them and decided that I should try making it since you aren't able to."
"Well, it's not perfect, I'll give you that but at least you made one." Amy says in a mildly surprised tone.
"These ideas and plans you have are necessary for the mission. It will give me exactly what I need to find the succubus."
"Did you check that village I told you where it could be?" she asked.
"I did but it's not there. Right now, its location is unknown." Alabaster answered.
"If it comes down to it, we might need to ask the Witch of Endor."
Boris are confused but Alabaster is skeptical. "The witch of Endor?" the men said simultaneously.
"Isn't she a myth?" Alabaster said.
"Who is that?" Boris asked.
The fact that they are unaware of who she is, is not a surprise. The Witch of Endor is based on a figure of the same name from her original world. In the Story of Aron, she is believed to be a myth and not even a well-known one, but she exists. The legend says that the Witch of Endor is an immortal being who lives in the Misty woods where travelers can wander in and never come out. The Witch has the power of infinite knowledge and is said to be the only living thing to exist since the Age of Angels and Demons. She can only answer one question each person and no more. The only clue to come inside and meet the witch is to translate a riddle on a stone slate and figure out what it means. It was however broken into several pieces, collected by both Leon and mages all over. After finding the pieces, one of Aron's friends figured it out but no one was willing to try except Aron and earned the witch's favor. He successfully got through the woods and met the witch, asking her how to defeat the Cambion, leaving him to not only come back alive but with crucial information.
To tell the truth, the Witch of Endor was a plan she decided to keep in the back of her mind because there are some unexplained circumstances to the plot but because she can only ask her one question, she decided to wait until she is at a situation where she is desperate but with two other people with her, she can ask her three.
"The Witch of Endor is an old folklore saying a witch with unearthly knowledge lives in the Misty woods of Hekaton and that any who have a question for her would try to reach her only to never return." Alabaster answered nonchalantly.
"Question?"
"She can only answer one question per person without fail and in explicit detail. She never leaves anything out and she knows everything in the world despite never leaving the forest. How to become immortal? She has the answer to that. True love? Answer to that too. Your entire future? She has the answer." Alabaster explained to him.
"Wait, if she lives in Hekaton, how come I, a native, know nothing about her?" Boris asked confused.
"Hekaton tried to erase any knowledge of the Witch of Endor because people have been trying to risk going into that forest for any answer they have. No one has ever made it out. Also, they believe that Angels are the true immortals. Any human who is immortal is deemed both impossible and sacrilegious." Amy answered. "In the story, Aron meets the Witch, and she told him his weakness. One of them is the Creeping Crystal. Though it was already too late, but with everyone's efforts, they managed to banish the Cambion. The only person capable of killing him is Leon but he died."
"So, you plan on killing him." Boris said.
Amy nodded. "With your access to my knowledge, you should know how to get inside."
Alabaster cringed at the realization. "That is insane." he groaned.
"I know but it works, and you must follow that instruction completely or you're stuck in there forever. Not even a teleportation circle could get you out." She said.
"Alright, I'll see what I can do."
