Amy was sitting on the rooftop stargazing with Viola who began flying in the air and a simple magic circle behind her. She has especially been skilled with wind magic, so much so that she could fly. While that isn't commendable itself, people often prefer a sense of safety and comfort when flying like riding on top of something or not fly at all because of the huge risk of falling to their death and it takes a lot of concentration and force to carry a human being with just wind. Despite that, Viola has a free spirit and isn't afraid of flying at all.
"It's quite beautiful!" Viola shouted staring up while Amy is looking at the news report.
Amy frowned upon seeing news of an execution. As a result of an incident, Duke Orlando is forced to back down as Prime Minister and now Duke Durham has taken office. Amy is skeptical of that name.
Rufus's favor is for her to read the latest newspaper and tell him about it. Something dark is going on and everyone in the academy is safe and unaware of what is going on outside the school.
She looked up at the starry sky wondering what she should do. Taking the newspaper under her arm, she used her wind magic to fly down to her window.
"I'll be back!" she yelled at Viola who responded with a thumbs up.
After flying in, she heads to go find Rufus. She has a clear idea as to why he asked her to read the paper. He is afraid that it might affect Leon somehow. With a new prime minister, it might be possible.
She then spots Rufus at the training ground with Leon from the window and jumped out much to Leon's shock until she safely landed on the ground.
"How did you do that? You didn't even say an incantation."
Amy frowned at her own carelessness. Even using elemental magic requires a verbal spell unless you are skilled in non-verbal magic.
"I don't need to. I haven't had to need to say spells in a long time." she replied smoothly.
Leon's mouth gaped open while Rufus looks impressed. "Really? But I've seen you say spells out loud before."
Amy shrugged. "I just roll with it. It causes attention." She then shows Leon and Rufus the newspaper. "Did you know about this?"
Leon snatched the paper before Rufus, read it then unfavorably glared at Rufus.
"Apparently not." Leon answered coldly.
"I'm worried that this would affect your time here." Rufus admits. "I heard from my mother that the nobles want you out of the Magic academy and into the Royal Academy. They've gone so far as to petitioned your parents."
Leon groaned. "I passed the damn test. What more are they asking for?"
"I don't think they know."
Amy was silent. She's not paying attention to the squabbling but this is quite strange.
According to her parents letter, they wrote of their reaction and shock of Leon's admission to the Magic Academy and the scandal it caused. Now, many nobles are trying to unsuccessfully enroll their kids in the Magic academy but failed due to the end of the enrollment period. Why are people so desperate to get close to Leon? Sure, he may be future king but there are plenty of opportunities to get close to him. Besides, he has an unfavorable impression on nobles especially brown-nosed nobles. It would be fruitless if they were to try to enroll now or successfully get him to leave the academy.
Seeing as the arguments aren't stopping anytime, she went back inside through the door this time. She came back to the rooftop where Viola was waiting for her.
*
Amy woke up abruptly to the sound of glass breaking. She quickly threw a shawl around her shoulders, put her shoes on, then grab a knife. She dashed out of the door to the next wing where she saw some other people curiously standing by their doors, half asleep. She saw Rufus with a bright crystal ball in his hand. He has the same worried expression she has. They knocked open Leon's door then opened it to see Leon standing by the window, barefoot and eerie. Nothing happened.
Amy was shocked to see Leon turn around with a stoic expression. All of the evidence is gone. Even the window is perfectly intact. He erased everything.
Ever since their first day, Amy has created surveillance around the dorm. Even Rufus added in extra protections but someone got through anyway.
"What happened?" Rufus said.
"Nothing happened." Leon says in a threatening tone. "Do I make myself clear?"
Amy and Rufus shared looked before respectfully nodding and closed the door. For the first time in her new life, she felt respectful to him.
"I have never seen Leon like this." Amy said after closing the door.
Rufus pats Amy shoulder in solidarity. "I know the feeling. He rarely shows this side of himself. Even I rarely see him this angry but do not worry about that. He's not angry at us. He's more angry at whoever did this. There are few people he could keep around him and trust. Being a prince is dangerous and the same goes for being near one."
"It looks like I will need to take more measures." Amy said.
"Like what?"
"Another barrier. One that keeps anyone who is not a part of Team Sun."
"Is that what the Fairy blood is for?" Rufus says.
"No. It is my own personal project but if I have any left, you can have it."
Rufus smiled at her. His expression is still fixed but it looks more genuine. "I'll think about it."
Then they went their separate ways. Thankfully, there are no classes tomorrow so she will begin creating a powerful barrier. She then saw Viola standing in the middle of the hallway. Her hair is messy and she looks spooked.
"Go back to bed. Nothing happened."
"What is going on?" she quivered. "I felt a presence but before I could check it out..." she gripped Amy's arms fearfully, "it disappeared like a ghost."
So it was a person. Leon is quite quick.
Viola looked confused as she whispered in Amy's ear.
"What is going on? How did it get passed the barrier?"
Amy hugged her sister to comfort her but she had the exact same question.
Leon had a cold look. Nothing else could look scarier. If she had seen the body even for a moment, she might see if the person is an assassin or a thief. This is where all the nobles lived after all. Leon is the only one to know what happened but he wants to hide it.
