Chapter 5 - Ch 5: The Second tutorial [Pt1]

The snakes came after Soma in a wave, their attacks getting more ferocious by the second.

There was nowhere to run, and fighting was the only way out.

[Warning! You are under the effect of the Revenge Fairy. Your affinity for attracting monsters is 200%. If ensured, the user will get +5 free stat points.]

The system warned, but Soma was not worried.

Instead, he looked elated.

"Oh! So, these monsters will come to me out of their own will? Then let them."

At level 15, Soma could take out one snake in a single strike.

That was how he spent his first-day farming.

There were six more days to go, and Soma was already done with the most important part of the test.

But since Soma had already hit level 15, these monsters no longer gave him satisfying exp.

Despite knowing that, Soma continued to fight these snakes, and there was only one reason behind this - to drag the administrator out of hiding.

...

-Crash

-Bang

The snakes collided with each other, missing Soma.

It gave Soma enough opportunity to slit their throat and end their pathetic lives.

"Good, that takes care of another batch. I should slow down now, or my body will start to reject the immunity potion soon."

Soma looked at this poison immunity at around 75% now.

He could resist most poisons at this stage.

But that also means losing his affinity for potions.

The most important reason Soma needed to stop was because his body was beginning to break down due to a lack of sleep.

There was a time when Soma was able to go without sleep for years.

But it was after he had already become immortal.

Currently, Soma still suffered from migraine and other human ailments.

'Let's find a house and rest there now.'

Soma opened the first house he saw and set up a protective boundary.

He had brought that boundary for 1000 coins and wanted to make it worthwhile.

Soma fell asleep within minutes of his head hitting the pillow.

Unfortunately, his sleep lasted only about six hours.

He was rudely woken up by the window of his house being broken into.

"Y-Y-You! Do not move. N-Now, hand over all your possessions…to me…"

The man held a gun out toward Soma to indicate that he would shoot Soma if the other did not comply.

It was a nice bluff, but Some was irritated because his sleep had been interrupted.

"Shit! Why did I spend money on that charm, only to be rudely woken up by a human?"

Soma complained before he pulled himself up in a lazy manner.

"You sure you want to keep standing there? It's not safe-"

"D-Don't say a word, and don't come near me. Just hand over your possessions over to me. Do it, or I will shoot."

The man shot at the wall beside Soma as a warning. The shaking caused the intended shot to miss by miles, and Soma felt his headache.

'Great! Now I have to deal with incompetent humans as well?'

"I am telling you to escape the window for your safety. You will-"

Soma did not get to finish his sentence before the man got eaten by a snake.

[Warning: The Revenge Fairy is in effect. This safe area will lose its efficiency in one minute.]

That happened fast, but Soma pulled his body up and started to farm again.

And finally, he hit a milestone.

[Congrulations: You have killed 1000 snake deities. Unbelievable achievement unlocked. +2000 coins gained.]

[Warning: No further reward will be awarded for your participation. Would you like to continue?]

The system asked, and this was where most people would have given up.

But Soma knew better than to give up now.

Some things were kept behind hard-to-beat walls, and this situation was no exception.

"Yes, I would like to continue. Just because I cannot get exp from this event anymore does not mean I will not get any exp either."

If Soma could hit level 20 in the tutorial stage, it would greatly benefit him.

It would also not take the administrator of this test to pay attention to him.

"Well, that was a sweet six hours of sleep. Now, it is time to throw myself back into the fight."

Soma pulled himself up.

A snake jumped toward Soma to try and kill him, but Soma's senses were working too fast.

He killed the snake before it could reach Soma.

It was a rampage after that.

Soma killed as many snakes as possible, but they were too weak.

They continued to drop the cores as they died, causing the count to keep increasing.

And finally, it happened on the sixth day.

The administrator could no longer take it.

[The administrator would like to request a meeting with you. Do you accept this meeting request?]

That was the line Soma had been waiting for forever.

"A meeting with the administrator of this floor? This was what I was waiting for."

The meeting was finalised, and the monsters stopped attacking him.

...

The admin was a big-bodied man with bulking muscles and a muscular physique.

He was also not someone Soma had seen before his regression.

'This administrator was either not strong enough to make it till the end, or he was a traitor.'

Many fled humanity's side once the outer gods gained dominance.

There was no way to tell if you could trust someone based on their outer appearance.

-Grab

"What the hell? I heard all the commotion and thought that someone strong had finally descended for humanity's side, but now I see that it was a twerp without any power. It is impressive that you hit level 20, kid."

The administrator laughed while grabbing Soma's face and holding it close.

Soma pulled his face back from the administrator's hand but kept a polite distance from the man.

"Oh! So, you are not only smart but polite as well. Would you mind telling me why you decided to drag me out like this?"

The administrator's mood changed instantly.

The older man pressed his power all over the area, maximising the efficiency of his aura.

Soma felt ants crawling up his spine when the aura hit him, but he kept himself upright.

The administrator looked impressed with Soma's determination and quickly released his hand.

"You are not afraid? This is a first? Will you not flinch once you see me do this?"

The administrator asked, punching the wall of the nearby building and making it collapse.

Soma was more impressed that the administrator achieved such a feat with his strength alone.

"Ah, you are still not afraid? What a pity. Anyway, the reason I am here and I called you now is simple - I want you out of my test. You are overqualified for this tutorial stage. Are you a player already?"

The administrator asked, looking at Soma up and down.

No matter how much the administrator looked, he could not find anything.

Soma was not a ranker yet, but he had the mindset of one.

"I am just a normal human with no intention of abandoning this trial."

Soma maintained his calm smile, not letting an inch of his real emotions show on his face.

The administrator's eyes narrowed in suspicion once he noticed how calm Soma was.

No human should be this calm when facing someone stronger than them.

"What do you want, kid? If you tell me what you want, I will give it to you."

The administrator finally caved in and asked this question.

He had never met such a reckless and stubborn person before.

Even now, the administrator had no idea what was happening in this human's head, but he wanted to know.

"You want me to fortify this tutorial stage? So, what can you offer me in return?"

Soma asked, and the instructor gritted his teeth.

'The audacity! How can a kid who has not even made it to floor 1 of the tower ask me such a question?'

The administrator was frustrated but could not participate in a fight with a kid.

Besides, he could see the Revenge Fairy activated on this man.

'So, the fairy shopkeepers I employed finally caused me trouble? I knew this was going to happen eventually. I need to get this kid out of here as soon as possible.'

"Let's see. Since you exceeded the results in the first two trials, I can reward you by skipping the next two and sending you directly to the last trial. No, I can make you skip all trials and send you directly to the first floor."

The administrator tried not to look too eager.

But Soma did not bulge.

"Skip the trials? No thanks. This reward sucks. You can come up with another one, right?"

Soma asked, and the administrator had no choice but to ask him what he wanted.

"Fine! Tell me what you want. But it cannot exceed the value of 10k coins."

Soma agreed, mainly because he was constantly tired of using weapons.

"Then, give me the Rickard spider strings."

Soma held his hand out, and the administrator looked confused.

"Rickard spider strings? Why do you want such a useless thing? No wait! How do you know about the existence of such a thing?"

The administrator asked suspiciously, but Soma waved his hand in a 'do not worry' manner.

"How I got to know about it is not important. Just give that string to me now."

The administrator sighed before handing the material to Soma.

[Rickard spider strings: An extremely durable crafting material. Has no effect]

"Thanks. I will make good use of this material. Now, for the rest of my reward. I would like coins. Give me as much as you can."
