Rhett's gaze held mine captive, his dark eyes smoldering with an intensity that sent a shiver down my backbone.
Silence reigned between us as he drew closer to me. I waited in apprehension. Even my breaths were ragged. I didn't know what to do, so I fidgeted with my clothes.
"Study shows that the briefest hugs can reduce a fair percentage of stress." He cooed.
I stared at his legs as though I wanted to catch his steps before they arrived. "Oh," I said.
"I am stressed, Isleen." He clicked his tongue, hands intertwined behind him.
My cheeks burned. This man, with his rough demeanor and captivating presence, had a way of turning my insides to mush. "I— I don't know what you mean," I stammered but it felt as though a million of voices were yelling at me.
It felt like they were shouting 'liar!'
