In a magical land of Humans, Wyverns, Trolls, and many other mythical creatures, stand a pantheon of Gods who govern all the events of history. Gods so powerful that their very existence is enough to shake the reality of the universe.
In a majestic, gold cladded dome stands an alter and a goblet with containing a silver like liquid surrounded by an enormous amphitheater with seating for all the minor and chief Gods. It is the time of great anticipation as the Gods prepare to receive a prophecy which only occurs every thousand year's.
A priestess slowly approaches the alter dressed in a beautiful white dress, her face completely covered that none may look upon her. As she stands at the alter, the Gods go silent waiting with eager anticipation for the prophecy to be read.
"Fellow Gods, we gather here again after a thousand year's to await the coming of a new prophecy. One that will hopefully bring about good fortune and victory. May the Supreme Being guide us with his revelation of the future for the Gods in attendance today."
After speaking, the priestess speaks a foreign chant that none of the Gods understand. As she finishes, she removes her clothing except for her veil, and lies on the alter fully exposed to everyone. Using a hypnotic spell on herself, she goes into a state of confusion and slurred speech.
Another being wearing a full black cloak not revealing his identity, takes the goblet and makes the priestess drink it's contents after she's been fully hypnotized. A while passes and nothing happens, the Gods start whispering among themselves if there is even going to be a prophecy, or did the priestess lie about her purity. Suddenly a loud bang is heard by everyone and the priestess stands up and starts speaking.
"Beware to you Gods who have become complacent in you eternal reign over this world, for the time of your downfall is at hand. A human will be born who's destined to kill all of you for your lack of compassion towards his kind. He will be born of the old blood, the blood of the Soul Killer's and blood of the Divine Mages, who will stop at nothing until all of you have been killed by his hand. Heed this warning, for your time of destruction is at hand."
With that the priestess falls back to the alter unconscious. A slurry of voices can be heard around the amphitheater of worry, anger, and shock as they process the prophecy they've just heard. Who could this human be? When will he reveal himself? How will he get the power to kill them? All these questions plague their minds as they leave the dome and head to their residence.
One of the Gods calls for his spies and assassins as he enters his abode.
"You called for us Lord Grishgan?"
"Yes. I have heard a disturbing prophecy, one that speaks of the end of our reign as Gods. It will be brought about by a human with the old blood. I want you to find him and kill him at all costs."
" It will be done my lord."
With that, they dissappear into the darkness on their mission to find the human child the prophecy speaks of.
